So he might not be the best or even amazing but he plays in the pocket solid and the first 3 albums are a bitch especially an Justice for all I have played for 25 years and lived most of that in the Bay area were I was lucky enough to meet them along with many bay area and so cal epic thrash & metal bands so show some respect. If James did not steal most of Ride The Lightning minus the solos from there origanal lead guitarist DAVE MUSTAINE of Megadeth fame they would'nt be were they are today. He says in the interview that challenge in Metallica for him lays in the songwriting experience and onstage performances. I'd put him into Messhugah's lineup without any doubt.

I saw that show too! I think it was the first US tour. They were playing while spinning in circles. Was almost ready to go after they played but remembered that Slayer was on next.
I like that Meshuggah is under the radar now. They are free to do what they want without the constraints that popular bands sometimes have put on them.
i used to love metallica, but after i heard meshuggah and started understanding them, NO one could be as good or better than them (thats my opinion). however, with that being said, i don't hate metallica, i respect them, cuz they started a new metal scene. even meshuggah was influenced by metallica back in the day. dont disrespect the band who was the origin of other metal groups
Rob seems like a guy that's just a good natured person. Like he doesn't let the money or the status go to his head. He's always seemed extremely genuine and grateful for everything that he has. I'm not saying that the others don't, but he seems very humble and kind. He's also a damn fine bass player. I loved him in Infectious Grooves.
I love when one great musician references another. I watched the making of Medulla documentary and it made my day when I found out that Bjork is a fan of Swans.
Meshuggah's first album+ EP sounds like a combination of Pantera and Tool with Metallica/Slayer. Besides that, going into Future Breed Machine they are a completely different band.
I'm not a fan of metallica (well now a days) but I gained a lot respect for Rob to mention one of the most innovative bands that we will see in our generation.
