I know you guys are rightfully confused by the mountain goat not being a goat, but he's right. Mountain Goats are in the genus "Oreamnos" while all true goats are "capra". So, not a goat, but a close cousin. Reasons like these are precisely why the scientific naming system is so important, because anyone would look at that and go "it's a goat" but genetically, they aren't.

8:15 It's in the scientific name, Rocky-mountain "goats" are of the genus (Oreamnos) derived from Ancient Greek meaning Mountain lamb. True Goats are of the genus (Capra) derived from Latin meaning Goat, being the Latin for Goat make them true Goats. This is why Rocky-mountain "goats" aka Oreamnos aren't really Goats, technically they are Mountain lambs.
Its not the name, it has to do with phylogenetics which *theyre literally in the same subfamily full of other things that look like goats you cant tell me theyre not goats*

So I just look it up and mountain Goats belong to the Bovidae family (which includes antelopes, gazelles, and cattle), it also belongs in the Caprinae subfamily/ Caprini tribe, which informally are called goat-antelopes, which includes the takins. It's also the only member of the Oreamnos genus

Context for the Mountain Goat not being a goat thing:
Mountain Goats are not part of the Capra genus (Goats)
They are in the Bovidae genus, making them in the same genus as Antelope, Wildebeest, Bovines, etc.
But suffice to say they are somewhat distantly related to goats, I assume, since technically capras are classified as Bovidae.
Bovidae essentially means a family tree of animals with "Cloven-Hooves," which includes goats and cattle.

They are of the family: Bovidae (Bovids), but they aren't Bovines as that's specific to the subfamily: Bovinae' (Cattle, Bison, Buffalo, Elands etc). Oreamnos are in the subfamily: Caprinae' (Sheep, Goat, Muskox, etc).
