Grew up in Australia, the man-o-war or "blue bottles" would float up on a beach near where I live. I still remember the time we were on the beach, not allowed to swim because they were floating around so we were just in the rock pools and sand, and one of my younger cousins picked one up, looking at it, and proceeded to rub it on his stomach because he was told they "hurt" (he was little they simplified it) and not to touch them so he wanted to see what everyone meant by that...........Darwinism.

My dad got nailed by a man 'o' war on his calf before I was born. My mom said it was the fastest she'd ever seen anyone swim. He was luckier than the dude close to where he was playing in the ocean though, the thing fully wrapped around his torso and he had to be carried out of the sea by lifeguards.
Okay, so: the reason people still eat fugu is because most of the restaurant fugu is raised on a special diet without poisonous bacteria caught in fishes fugu feed on (which they eat in the wild and become poisonous themselves). Those who eat wild caught fugu do so at home and win a ticket to afterlife instantly
