I think NY city has competition for the title "BIG APPLE". I really liked the yellow 'apple' car. Got a big kick how Julia looked like she was in a daze after your 'nap'. I get that sometimes, too. You wake up and wonder where you are or why you are there or what day it is! I imagine that happens a lot when traveling like you do. Love the scenery surrounding the city. Impatiently waitng for more. Especially sharing some dining experiences. BTW Matt, be careful around that guy in the market. He might try to steal Julia away from you. He looked kinda shifty and way too interested in Julia! 😅🤣😂 God bless, be safe, and enjoy!
Hi Chris 🥰 Unfortunately there was literally no other way out of Aktau, all the buses, trains, shared taxis, to any city were fully booked in advance as it was summer season😣 pretty gutted to have to finish it like that, but, what can you do I guess 😊 Hahaha, 100% more often than not to be honest 😁 especially this year with the constant time zone changes 😀 Matt said he is ready to battle anyone that tries 😁 See you in the next one Chris 🥰❤️❤️❤️
Travelled to Almaty in 1999 and spent most of my time at the railway station, British Embassy and Airport bc my travelling arrangements were stuffed up. Waste of a visa. I'm grateful to you for providing me an updated glimpse. Safe travel and peace to you. 💕

I am really enjoying your videos. I cannot well imagine the stress that you both must be under currently. I married a girl from behind the Iron Curtain many years ago, & experienced huge amounts of stress & difficulties at that time. I was also an economic exile from my country living on my wits & out of a backpack for many years. Seeing your posts brings much of this back to me, so it is really great to see you surmounting some really hard issues along the way. There was a happy story for us at the end, & I hope & pray that there will be a similar happy ending in the years to come, when the current madness comes to an end.
Glad you made it, great city! Some overriding memories from me. Aktau airport, not changed at all. Almaty airport, never ever get a gate, always a bus! But the biggest for me, which you probably never noticed was the air conditioning fans coming out of the baggage reclaim hall - it's odd what you remember a place by. I have to say, you were very brave flying SCAT, but get the reasons behind it. The guy in the shop was the salt of the earth, but also could sell snow to the Eskimos!!! Enjoy the apples.

Stunning photo of the Tien Shan Mountains. Beautiful hotel view and nice walk around the City of Apple. I have been in the far north of Kazakhstan. I had a trip plan through the Stans but a car accident changed that. It is still my intention to make it to Almaty and the rest of the Central Asian part of the Silk Route and over the Tien Shan Mountains.
That's very interesting about Almaty being where apples originated. I live in north central Ohio, where John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Appleseed ) was known for introducing apple trees to this part of North America.
