One of the most electric and visual groups ever.

I never get tired of listening to this, they ought to show this in music lessons in the schools, "children this is what's known as super funky cosmic musicianship" the Funk doesn't come anymore stronger than this. Thank you for sharing GC 👽🤘🏿

You can't teach the FUNK in no regular school. Come on now. Not to mention the parents would be going out their minds trying to get it shut down. Imagine if little Suzie that played the flute came home all funked up...

The template for funk. Grew up listening to them. One of the reasons I played guitar etc., in two bands. The first concert I went to was with them, (jealous alert, lol), Parliament{Duh], Graham Central Station, Jimmy Castor Bunch with the Lockers opening up locking all over the stage. When " S*!t, g-d@mn get of your ass and jam" came on, the priceless expressions on the middle aged, snooty people was something to behold. We just jumped up and starting dancing in the aisles.

On lead guitars, I think: Gary Snyder and Eddie Hazel trading the classical riffs attendant to "Cosmic Slop." Gary leaving no doubt he could carry the lead as well.

Garry Shider, Eddie Hazel and Ron Bykowski RIP ALL 3 of these funk gods

Should have saw the show in Houston in 1978. They always went out the way to give Houston the best. We jam that mother out.

I’ll look for it on TH-cam. It’s been great finding the live concerts on TH-cam. Since I’m from Detroit I only saw them in the Detroit area venues starting in the early 70’s when I was a teen.
      Thanks!

Every P Funk show should start with this classic.

@@smoothoperator7023 OK, its cool. Ive been to near 100. The past 4 or 5 years they have not. They opened with I Bet You, Music for your Mother, Im Gonna Make you Sick, Mothership Connection, Get Low, etc.. Not trying to start anything. PFunk is fun , its own reward and a great way of life. Just making a comment on my favorite song live. Thats all.

So a week ago I drove from LA to San Francisco. Heard little red Corvette on the radio heading out of town. Decided I wanted to hear it again so I played the 1999 album. Stopped for gas, took about 1/3 - 1/2 of a hit ⚡️ if you know what I mean, then listened to purple rain the album. Then listened to controversy, then listen to controversy AGAIN, then around the world in a day, then sign of the Times as I pulled into my driveway 6-7 hours later. I’ve listened to a lot of Prince, but never a full on six or seven hour psychedelic focused listening session like that. And man, I had not understood until then that Prince was fully a member of the Eddie Hazel Michael Hampton Blackbyrd McKnight guitar club. It all made sense how much he was family. 🤘🏼

African chords are the intro. The same as the intro to Fela Kuti's "Who No Know Go Know" on his Everything Scatter" album 1975. ❤️🖤💚🪘🎶🎵🎼🥁❤️🖤💚
