True. I remember as a kid, I saw Larry blackmon in a music studio, playing drums, singing a MOVING love song, in a haste,, just to put on some album. It was pretty. I heard it once, and was hoping to hear it when it came out. I'm not sure it was for a Cameo Album. It seemed to b done just to load on some album. I still think about that song. I never heard it again in THAT incarnation. This was 1981.
Larry Blackmon was an underrated drummer. He developed an unique playing style. Being a vocalist as well as a drummer his drumming was not the typical rythm section but was also a melodic section. In songs like "I just want to be", "Better days", " She's Strange" , "Word up"...The drums are literally singing the songs.
Loved it when Larry was on drums and singing. Can’t forget “Electric “ Aaron Mills killing it on bass either. Yes, early Cameo was straight genius. ☝🏾❤️

I remember seeing them at Radio City. Larry Blackmon was in a casket that came down from the ceiling. These mother jumpers came in played over and hour straight. They were fast and funky and NY didn't know what hit them. I was lmao because I had never seen a group come in like that. Then I saw them later that night in Bentley's. Man those were the days.

This was on Don Kirshners Rock Concert to promote the “Secret Omen” album and I think some are confused because Wayne Cooper is there, his hair is just shorter. He had the big fro during the Cameosis release before he died. But that is Wayne with shorter hair and the stache hitting those notes standing upfront next to Tomi Jenkins and Nathan Leftnant.

This was on Don Kirshners Rock Concert to promote the “Secret Omen” album and I think some are confused because Wayne Cooper is there, his hair is just shorter. He had the big fro during the Cameosis release before he died. But that is Wayne with shorter hair and the stache hitting those notes standing upfront next to Tomi Jenkins and Nathan Leftnant.
