Besides Buckethead being a master of his unique style; his lack of ego always fascinated me.

I love that he takes himself unseriously as he takes his music seriously. It's an awesome combination. I've even seen him hold his guitar out to let children in the front row strum some notes and push the effects buttons.

especially among guitar players.. When I was younger the EGO was so thick some people wore it like a cloak and you could actually watch it flap in the wind as a breeze came along. I ignore it today though.

This is the kind of stuff I was playing LIVE in my teens, as a member of a prog band with an electric violinist/multi-instrumentalist…guys who all became well-known. I was also the all-nite radio DJ at the same time at one of the country’s greatest radio stations. Was totally blessed to have fallen into both situations. Just two amazing musical situations that helped shape my life. Funniest thing was…when I got hired at that radio gig, we had a record library of around 20,000 LPs and I was told, “You can play ANYTHING YOU WANT….oh..except “Maggot Brain.” Hahahaha. Always remembered that. Funny in retrospect. Apparently there was a local guy who called to request it like 10x a day. I DID gEt to play it on occasion.

Kinda funny that folks are surprised Bucket can play with folks, doesn't need the spotlight..
The man has so much control.. he's got more in reserve than most players I've ever seen.

I think buckethead has some sort of fan in his bucket so he can stay cool while on stage during the summer. Perhaps a cool suit or something. He is absolutely stunning to see live if you ever have the chance to see him just go! It's worth it.

This rips! Back when Bonnaroo was at its best.
I was at the show but I have to admit I didn’t know Maggot Brain at the time. I was a P-funk fan but mostly knew their more popular funk tunes. I heard someone else play the song live so I bought the Maggot Brain CD a while ago and was blown away by the song and the fact that I didn’t know more about it. It’s stunning and this is a great cover.

They used to play Maggot Brain every Saturday night at midnight on WNCX in Cleveland. For like 30 years. Watching the violin player rip is awesome. (correction NCX not MMS)

WNCX! Yes, the track that closed out the Saturday Night House Party hosted by Mr. Classic every weekend! That’s exactly what I thought of, too. You knew the party was over when you heard “Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time…” A memory that will never fade for so many of us grizzled old rockers in the Rock-n-Roll Capital. 🔥🎸🔥

@@sablespecter you might remember this, was NCX a different station before it was classic rock? Did it play Pop music in the early 80s? And did it have different call letters? I remember a pop station in Cleveland in the early 80s but I forget the actual call letters.
