I’m offended if my effendi Tomley is offended. But I’m only offended by poxy, ok ? As for the Avanti, it did look pretty funky when it was released. It I already had Kyoshos and stuff to race, so I never bought one. The only tamiya I always really wanted was the Sand Scorcher! Bought one 2 yrs ago, have it away that Xmas. Bought another for Easter, and it’s still in the box waiting to get built 😁👍
Your bringing back so many memories I've started collecting tamiya again I'm building replica renault alpine a110 to match the ones I clean for car shows I'm after the monty carlo 1973 decals to complete the 2nd of 3 a110s
I was gifted a vintage Avante 2001 runner with missing front right upright SB10. Never thought it should be that difficult to locate one without costing a lot. Also came without dampers, wheels, motor and motor mount and right front knuckle. But some I should have in my parts bin others should be obtainable. Love how you did it with 2 colors.
My LHS had one of these up on top the display wall from the day I first went in until they closed 15 years later... I still wonder where it went after that.
Great job Gavin, that looks awesome! Definitely one I used to lust after in the Tamiya catalogues back in the day..... do hope we see a re re! 🤞 These kind of videos are always my favourite, great to see this style of content back on the channel. Love seeing a car that's oozing with history /nostalgia being brought back to its full glory! I can fully appreciate all the struggles you mentioned when doing the body- I experienced all this when recently restoring my vintage Astute! Evenings/darkness drawing in, dampness in the air, having to custom mask the windows, trying not to get over spray on the outside of the shell (I masked a plastic bag around the outside of the shell which totally eliminated any overspray).... and all the time knowing fully well how rare /hard to replace, and expensive everything is if you cock it up! 😂 She looks delightful fella! 👌 👍 👍 👍
@@RCKickschannel Probably down to production factors, all of the tooling is already to hand for the 2011,where as the 2001 would require additional tooling /components. Also, the 2001 never seemed as 'popular' as the original Avante, and at the time was 'overshadowed' by the introduction of the Egress. But, Tamiya work in mysterious ways with their re releases,so never say never! I for one would grab one right away regardless of price. Finding a good original is now very hard, and the potential of doing a full 'as new' restoration is virtually impossible due to the issues finding the scarce and long since obsolete parts as you correctly outlined in your video. Look after her well mate, she's a beauty! Keep up the great work with the channel Gav. 😊 👍 👍 👍
If you don't want to wait, you can grab a VQS and a body set for the Avante Black Special. At the end of the day all the Avante 2001 really is is a Vanquish with an Avante body shell.
Not really, the VQS has a plastic chassis and very different shocks too. Also the VQS won’t fit a standard Avante shell as it’s a longer wheelbase. From your statement - loud and proud - backed by zero knowledge, I’d have to assume you were a Yankistani.
Here's an idea for a future video. See if you can build an RC10 entirely from aftermarket parts (aluminium chassis too) and take it vintage racing. I think it's just about possible except for perhaps a few pieces here and there.
Not sure the 2001 was everybody's dream 😜 But to each his own. Told you the big Avante on the side would bring some sweat and swear(s) 😊 I was not as courageous, I used a repro body and decals. You did a awesome job 👏 Hopefully one day Tamiya will rere this one 🤞
Good job Gav. I have to say I like the '88 Avante better - something about the proportions of this one feel a bit off where the '88 is more or less perfect in the looks department. I do like these types of videos though and I appreciate the effort you take to get things done right and kept original where possible. 👍🏼
You killed it on your body. Man, that thing is gorgeous ❤. Youve got more patience than me. I took my time on my bruiser because I wanted it perfect. But its a hard body and i think there easier to paint. Im not great on the lexan . Really cool how you layered your colors. Im not up on that . I was looking at all your cars behind you while you were talking. Just a great collection. Its a real talent you have building and painting. Great job.
@RCKickschannel Thank-you for your efforts. I really enjoy your channel. It's the nostalgia of our youth. Better days. Things are changing so fast in the world, it's a break to see the memories of our youth.
@@RCKickschannel I worry about you guys. Russia is getting ramped up. I pray for your country. I hate that we're getting pushed to war on every angle. You guys are so close to Russia.
8:41 carful mate.. don’t want to be criticised by the other UK largest Tamiya channel for missing an editing mistake. Wouldn’t happen over there as he seems to have all angles covered.. we can’t all be perfect.. #knoboftheyearaward great vid otherwise mate, hope your well and the family are good. See you in the 40k club soon. Rick ❤
It’s the ugliest, worst spec Avante out there, what on earth is the matter with you man!?! 😀. Granted, the decals are a real selling point for me and I do like the white cam-locs it’s just the rest of it is garbage in comparison when it could’ve been so much more…. To each his own.
I'm officially offended by not just your title and thumbnail... but your description!
Inner Karen has been activated... just you wait!

Wow, Gavin that is absolutely brilliant!

It came out great! Congratulations on finishing your favorite Rc in your collection. HAHAHAA just read your description mentioning Tomley . Good stuff

Awsome job Gav, im one of those that wasnt drawn into a tamiya to start the hobby grade rc road. Marui Ninja for me, had my 1st race with it aswell 👌

Love when you do Tamiya videos.
Don't forget your Juggernaut... It's a blast to drive (for a Tamiya fan ;) )
Yep it will be coming back
Great news! Forgot to congratulate on the 2001 (defo the best of Avante line-up), it's also.. Great :)
Hello I don't speak English but I like to watch your vidéos 😉👍
Thats good as my English is also bad
I do like the 2001. And I would take that any day over all of these black silver gold whatever “specials.”

If that is gold then i guess this 1 original series 1 i know of NIB is a platinum unicorn. -U10
I've been looking for a new rerelease of the 2011, but no luck!
It will turn up for sure
Do you spray the flat clear before the paint or after? Never knew how that worked

The proportions of the Avante 2001 probably feel off because it's an Avante body on the Vanquish's somewhat longer wheelbase chassis.
Nailed that one! What kind of oil do you use on the tyres?
What happened to you when you were telling us what PS code it was? 😂😂😂
I stuffed up the end a bit and left in some extra footage lol
@@RCKickschannel i was all confused!
You could buy a small garage tent and a heater for doing your spray jobs
That would really help over the winter months for sure.
I hope too that they bring out the 2001 but i doubt it
I have my fingers crossed we finally get to see a 2001 rere.
Wait a minute, you mean to say that you had days in the UK when it DIDN’T rain?
Nope, never happened
Looks beautiful Gavin!
Thanks!
Those darn wheels would strip
That turned out nice. There is something about this version that looks just, off, proportions wise.
Great work though.
It’s long and the space at the back when looked at from the side low down

There are many more not only the avante, mercedes amg zakspeed, Ferrari f40 and many others

Nothing wrong with that 👍🏻👍🏻
I have 2001. Without correct wheels, driver and body. Surprise?
A good chunk have lost the white rims and driver over the years. Not an easy one to fix up for sure.
I liked the egress more

It’s a rare one as it’s never been rereleased and it’s the hardest to restore. It has the best looking Avante body and decals
