This is what you get when you fully understand your equipment, have awesome ideas and talent. You don’t need any more than the basics. You are always inspiring.
I’ve been listening to Edgar Froese’s solo albums from the 70s and I feel almost certain that he was recording to a 4-track tape machine. If you listen closely, there never seems to be more than 4 instruments playing at a time. Sometimes the sound on a particular track changes, but the songs always stay within the simple format of 4 tracks. There is something about that simplicity that allows Froese’s compositional genius to shine in an even greater way than it did with Tangerine Dream in my not-so-humble opinion…
I always try to do as much as possible with just four tracks. For me that's the essence of a song. If I can exite a listener with these few components, I'm fine. So, yeah, I'm on your side, Luke. :)
For a long time, a long time ago, four tracks was all I had. Didn't complain then, not going to start now. 😉 Made my first tracks with Noise Tracker for Amiga. And that was 2+2 stereo channel so there was also that. Do you have history with old school trackers by any chance?
Here is a link to my only remaining published mod file from the Amiga. It’s not very good, but it was the beginning of a long journey. modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=60582
@synthseeker Wow that's a treasure! Wish I had such memories (in .mod format) I'll check it out, thanks! I've done something little with Vivid Tracker for iPad and couple of expeminents with some other trackers for pc. It's kind of fun to create with the limitations they have.
@@synthseeker Another thing to look into! Thanks for the tip. 😁 DefleMask was one of the new ones I've tried on pc. It has great features for old school game music etc. Your mod song wasn't at all bad! It was very Amiga (of course?). Good times. 🙌✨ Edit: I listened to it again, and with headphones this time. Very nice Tracker piece this! Nice to hear those good old stereo channels clearly. You're lucky to have this gem from the past. 👌😎
A GUY : four tracks aren't enough !
AMIGA SCENE : hold my beer !
Trackers for the win!

Aww thanks! You can do it too! I'm looking at your channel...if you make music, share it!
7:34 - I say "Ableton Push" but I meant "Ableton Move"...but you get the idea.
Very enjoyable stuff. Great sound choices.
Thank you kindly!

Edgar Froese is a legend, and a true master of four-track minimalism!!
Love that main riff
Thank you!
Very cool! I usually limit myself to 8 tracks because that's all the Push can show at one time and I get confused when I try to switch pages.
Not a bad idea at all. :)
That’s the Luke Stark Synth-Seeker Jedi Master technique right there.
Thanks buddy.
YT Commenter: "You can't make a song using only 4 tracks."
Synthseeker: "Hold my (non-alcoholic) Beer..."
lol true. ;)

Thanks Robert. I was grumpy. :)
Back in the day a coyote could get it all done with two cassette tape boombox and pause, rec, ping pong and.
“As is tradition!”
Nice ... lets face it even in a project with 60 tracks, excluding percussion, at any instant 4 simultaneous tracks playing is enough!
Well…you can use more if it means having more synths maybe? ;)
This is 🔥 AF
I was grumpy. ;)
Challenge accepted eh!.... yup you did it
"Hold my beer."
@@synthseeker my JDXi only has 4 tracks ..it's fine

I adore trackers. Renoise is my current favorite. ;)

Didn't Amiga MOD tracks only have 4 voices? - People seem to have forgotten that. The original Tracker only had 4 tracks and people did a lot with it.
Yup. I did a lot of mods back in the Amiga days. :)
sorry for bugging you 😁
You didn't bug me Don. :) Carry on.
we have worked out how to get more than 4 tracks, I did this weeks HWJ in just one track (thanks to the sonic video i posted)
