Convection oven all the way for me. I started off with the press and hated it. You don’t need shrink wrap for the oven, all i use is heat resistant tape to secure my image.
What issues did you have with the press? We are the opposite. We started with an over and it was awful. Now have a schulze mug turbo 15 and it is amazing.
I'm returning my tumbler press.. I can't get good tops no matter how well I tape them. I've tried super tight pressure, even looser pressure. Nothing I've tried gives me tops with white spots. However, my tumblers come out perfect almost every single time in convention oven.
For me.. I wanted to do different sizes and products. My press won’t do larger mugs, and tumblers. Buying multiple presses adds up and requires a good amount of designated storage and work workspace. And- one at a time. I think ultimately, the press is a better way to go but I now have both, and a heat press for shirts and flat objects. Where did you get your tape dispenser?
When you did the mug press you said 60 seconds and it's done... but did you flip it it looks exposed on the very top? And also what temp did you use. 🙏
i have gone back to a normal mug and tumbler press as airfryers and ovens never give me enough pressure as the green silicone clamps are crap and are not tight enough even after me bending the metal ends so it stays tighter shut, same goes for those white plastic wrap bags
Me too Cheers oven all the way. Why waste money on a useless press toooo much time when your making 20 or more tumblers have a great weekend🌷btw. My convention oven works perfect 385*degrees for EXACTLY 5 mins and we don't even turn the tumbler. Perfection everytime! Cheers Ontario Canada
Thanks for the informative video. What if you have odd shaped tumblers. I have some tapered travel mugs which are not the standard 17oz mug size for the standard heat press attachment?
I love watching your videos. You always have a smile on your face and in your voice. I agree with using a tumbler press. It's so easy and takes so much less time than an oven. I saw so many posts of people having trouble using an oven that I went straight for a press.
Confection oven 385* degrees 5 mins and I dont turn the tumblers Perfection everytime Can do 10 tumblers or more at a time. Easy when you have 20 or more tumblers. Why fiddle with a press? Cheers. Happy Easter🐇🌷
I ordered a press and waiting for it to come in. I ran across your video. On your press do you have to rotate the tumbler? Or does it press it all at once. I’ve been watching many videos to get familiar with mine. Many people say they rotate to get a full sub on their tumbler. It made me curious, does your do a full press.
Please can you tell me if it’s ok to put a final coat of crystalac over a tumbler that has epoxy? I made some pens and want to put a decal on them but I’m not using epoxy anymore. Do I need to sand them or would the epoxy repel off the epoxy?
The ovens take so much longer. Taping is very important. I love using my tumbler press. It presses up to 30 ounces. I rarely use my convection oven. Maybe I’ll try to sublimate a bowl or something in the oven. 😮
It’s so odd to me that people would use a confection oven as opposed to an actual sublimation oven designed specifically to make tumblers and many other items. Of course there will be issues using a confection oven, it’s not designed for sublimation.
I can't say that you made a convincing argument for the press, as I can only take your word for it. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. Showing a finished product would have helped.
Great video and information I was contemplating a convection oven as opposed to using cricut mug press since I have to spin and turn the mug (I am a crafter not a seller) if I were to sell I would definitely get the bigger press.
If you want to make tumblers the cricut mug press isn’t the way to go. It’s definitely an investment for a crafter but it’s much more consistent for me!
Did you show the difference between the two tumblers after? I'm really interested to see if not, if you did I'm sorry I had kids hanging off me while watching.
I didn't do a side by side but I can tell you that WHEN I got the oven to work - it looked fine. But I had SO MANY that didn't turn out in the process - i wasted so many tumblers :(

All this is required?
All of the first 4?
@@laceypurdue5526 what you need depends on what you’re planning on making
I use an air fryer and it works perfectly for me. I’ve been debating on getting a tumbler press. So far I’m not convinced I need to get one.
It’s definitely more consistent and a lot faster but definitely a personal choice!
Do you flip half way in the air fryer?
@@KeithDonegan no I don’t
What are your settings for the air fryer?
@@ladyw9643365 for 6 minutes. I use two different air fryers and that same setting works on both.

I don’t even tape my tips and bottoms anymore. Only the seam!
What about for mugs with handles?

Where did you get your tape dispenser?
Agree 100%! Tried the convection oven first, but my main issue was consistent heating. I have a PYD life tumbler press arriving today! :)
yay!!
I got mine last week after my Cricut mugpress died!! I’m very happy!!
I got mine a month ago & I love it! I have the PYD & they come out perfect every time! I also do shrink wrap
When you did the mug press you said 60 seconds and it's done... but did you flip it it looks exposed on the very top? And also what temp did you use. 🙏
It depends on the image. If it’s a single image in the middle of the cup you don’t have to move it! I do 385 for 70 seconds
i have gone back to a normal mug and tumbler press as airfryers and ovens never give me enough pressure as the green silicone clamps are crap and are not tight enough even after me bending the metal ends so it stays tighter shut, same goes for those white plastic wrap bags
The way you prepare tumbler for your press is all I do for convection oven and I can do 4 at a time.

I'm glad it works for you that way. It absolutely did not for me and for the vast majority of people I have spoken with
@@AlisonCrafts you need to turn the blower on or off. I forgot which. Lol
@@HeavenLeeMadeOnEtsy Hi yes the blower/ turbo is on for even heat. Cheers✌️from Ontario Cheers
@@debbiesmith6703 Which oven do you use?
I use epson presentation paper matte (not premium). less expensive, thinner, so its easier to line up image on mug/tumbler

I don't know the exact model jsut a standard countertop convection oven like this one: amzn.to/3is9nuG

I have about 25 messed up tumblers from my oven days I'd be happy to share lol
I’ve switched to a press and no matter what I do I get white around the edges. :( any tips?
Hi Allison, I would like to know if you can do the sublimation sippy cups and the fat tumblers with the trans pro
Where do you get the bands to go around the tumbler

Thank you!!! I have sooooo many messed up tumblers from using an oven, I wish I went straight to a press!!
@@AlisonCrafts What about a sublimatiooven made specifically for sublimation like the PYD oven?
Actually its easier using a airfryer, better than a convection oven
When you use your silicone bands it didn't leave a obvious darker ink transfer where the band was placed? I did it once and was to scared to try again
I never had that issue but I didn’t last long with that method before I got my presss!
I’m looking for what printer to do 😓
I have the sg1000 from ProWorld! shrsl.com/3roeg
I just wonder if it’s cheaper to make them or have someone else do it ?
Well it depends on what you plan to do. The equipment and supplies are definitely an investment if you’re literally looking to just get one cup

just blue painters tape from the hardware store :)
@@AlisonCrafts thank you!
so you dont have to turn it and heat it again in the mug press to get a good 360 subblimation?
It depends on the design. A single image no. Full wrap yes

Does the oven smoke ? And smell
If you cook things too long, yes it can smoke and smell!
