- When it comes time to pick a sublimation oven for your crafting needs, which should you choose? Which is the best convection oven for sublimation? I thought I would compare a household convection oven to an oven intended for sublimation to see what if any differences I could find. Hopefully this video helps you choose the right oven for sublimation crafting!

I was going to head to Walmart today and purchase a convection oven, but after watching your video I used your link and pushed the button on a PYD Life oven. Give me the ease of digital and the security in knowing the oven is doing what it is intended to do. Now I just have to wait for the delivery!

Definitely!
I use painters tape instead of shrink wrap. I’ve never had any luck with shrink wrap and would have to buy multiple different sizes. Would you be interested in doing a video to show the difference between using shrink wrap vs painters tape?
I am NOT a fan of taping the tumblers.

May I ask... Do we have to turn tumblers and blanks in the pyd life oven?
I generally do just to be on the safe side. Sublimation blanks are just so expensive!

I don't have a favorite brand but I buy from a brand or website that I know.
I bought the PYD oven and am now waiting for my Epson F170 sublimation oven to arrive. My craft room is over our 3 car garage, so it is up one level from our main living area. My windows do not open in my craft room. So am I going to have to put my oven in the garage? Or can I use it in the craft room?

Hi Angie, I just bought the PYD LIFE sublimation oven, and I want to sublimate pens. Do you know what temp and time I should use? I wrap in shrink wrap. I love watching your videos and I find them very helpful! Thank you!

Can you do a review for the dog bowl compatible with the PYD oven. That is one reason why I want it. I can’t find any videos with tutorials about it. What shrink wrap would I use for the dog bowl and what brand.

PYD Life actually has a shrink wrap sized just for the dog bowl.
Sorry, meant to ask if you can use the shrink wrap on a tumbler going into a tumbler press.
No shrink wrap in a tumbler press.
Are you able to just stand the sub blanks up or upside down to prevent the rolling of the blanks and maybe minimize or eliminate the need to turn? Or would you still have to turn halfway regardless??
You would have to turn half way regardless. And with the shrink wrap buckled on the bottom, they just don't stand well.
Hello Angie thank you for you videos. I have a few questions. I bought a Gourmia airfryer/ toaster oven hoping to use it for sublimation. I just plugged it in tonight to test the temp. I st it for 375 on airfry mode with an oven thermometer in there but when it beeped the thermometer was reading 350. And it continued to heat up it looked like it got up to 400 without me opening. What would you suggest. Can I still use it for sublimation and also do I need to use any of the equipment that goes inside the oven? Thx
I think you could still use it. Maybe just play with times/ temps. Depending on the rack, you may find you get hot/cold spots and a pad will help that.
I have a confection oven that has different cook mode selections such as bake, broil, air fry etc. Does it matter which setting you use when sublimating?
I would use bake.

I have just started venturing Into mugs and tumblers sublimation and I just cannot get it right the tapered ones .
I'm coming close but when it comes to wrapping the tapered coffee tumblers it's not distorted and twisted and not joining . Please help your biggest fan 🙏🙏
I have been working on something for that for a while. I am trying to find a SIMPLE way to do it as tapered objects are tricky!

Hi. Is it possible to sublimate MDF blanks using a sublimation oven? For example MDF earrings
Maybe if you can find shrink wrap small enough? I don't use my oven for anything flat.
When you heat the shrink wrap does it start the sublimation process?
It does not really get hot enough to do that. I have actually tried to see if I could sublimate with a heat gun and it was a huge failure.
How do you get the temperature to go up by one degree? I can only get it to go up in 5 degrees at a time. Not able to set it to 356 degrees. I have the PYD oven.
I would just set to 355. It is not going to make a difference.

Yes you can!
Do PYD blanks only have to be used in the PYD oven?
Definitely not! You can use any blanks!
Question about Nomex pad in convection oven.... I've tried to use a nomex pad in convection oven but items keep sticking to pad.... any suggestions?
I have had shrink wrap melt and stick but that is the fault of the shrink wrap not the pad. It should not melt.

No. I do not use it.
Can you sublimate plates in an oven? If so how do you sublimate plates?
Probably not in an oven like this as you have nothing to apply the pressure. They make heat press attachments for them or a vacuum heat press.

Do you think that a person should get the warranty for the oven? How long have you had yours?
I have had mine a while now. I tend to not get warranties on anything and take the risk but it is a personal decision.

I did my first vessel in the PYD LIfe oven. The shrink wrap melted to the cup. What did I do wrong?
More than likely it is the brand of shrink wrap you are using.
On my second try I added one layer of butcher paper larger than the cup and set a lower temp and time and the second one turned out perfect. The first shrink wrap was from Amazon and the second came with my oven. Thanks for your response.
Do have to use shrink wrap or can you still use butcher paper?
Shrink wrap provides the pressure needed as you don't have any when using an oven. So, no you would not use butcher paper in this case.
Where can I purchase the sublimation blanks as I'm getting ready to purchase the sublimation oven?

I get mine from a person on facebook ships in 4 days and it’s $4.4 a piece but you have to buy in bulk

I would not think so.
How many units can you place in the sublimation oven?
Depends on the size of your oven and the size of what you are sublimating. I also do not like them to touch.
How do I adjust the temperatures on the pyd life oven on top and bottom of the oven to be the same exact and in 1 intervals please and thank you in advance
I don't think it goes in 1 intervals. I just adjust both to the same.
@@AngieHolden maybe I’m not saying it correctly 😩 how can I change the temp to 356 on top and bottom. Because right now all I can do is 355 or 350 and so on. They say to have both temperatures the same. Thanks for responding 😊
Just make it 355. One degree does not matter.
I’m sad I still don’t know which to choose I want the easy but my budget says no but I don’t want to keep losing tumblers either

Do you have a video how to size it right to match at the seems? I have a print that’s suppose to match but I always print too long

Yep! I would start with what I used for the tumblers here. It will require some trial and error. I never do mugs in mine as I have a mug and tumbler press.
