Once again I am late since I just discovered you. Your reactions are always so good. I don't know if you know this but they all met the first time the day before the audition. What you saw was them getting to know each other, becoming friends, and learning how to perform as a group as they kept improving each and every week. You get to see them actually perfecting their sound.Once again great reaction.
It's wild bc while they still do it the best I've heard, the idea of doing like, vocal audio skips (like in Video Killed the Radio Star) is normal to me NOW, but back then it really WASN'T, especially not in acapella. They truly were groundbreaking as a group.
Welcome back!! I'm so excited for you to be doing their Sing-Off journey! This was their very first time singing together as a group for an audience like that, as they all got together a week or so before for the auditions. Not all of the performances are great, but that's why I love this so much because you get to see them finding themselves, and when they finally click together, it's incredible.

Little note: always watch to the very end because sometimes there is a quick interview snippet after they leave the stage post judging. Also, Ben Folds’ judging may seem harsh, but it was always constructive and they took what he had to say to heart and it helped them improve.
@@CarmenReacts Yeah honestly any time Ben had a criticism, they took it to heart and came back better for it in the next performance. It's really cool to watch Sing Off, bc you can actively see them improving just within the competition itself, bc they were so open to constructive criticism and willing to push themselves.

The alien space ship sound effect everyone thinks is Kevin is actually Avi. It was pretty wild. They were required to have a chaperone when they went off site so Avi got his sister Esther to do that (Avi is from California not Texas). If you keep going on the video they talk about what the judges have said about them. Very crazy. Avi Kaplan looks different in his solo career but still cute and his voice is wonderful. Give him a try sometime.

Breaking down the parts of PTX begins with the trio of Scott, Kirstin, & Mitch: These 3 have sung together for so long that each one knows how to be the lead singer while the others harmonize and then seamlessly switch to harmonizing while another will take over the lead. They had mastered this capability quite well. Once Scott met Avi, he knew that the incredible bass of Avi would carry well with their sound in the mix; especially the strength to stay right with the trio's power vocals. Kevin's beatboxing and impeccable timing fit right in with the rest of the group. Watching their journey in the sing-off is an interesting and excellent way to see them progress and show how much chemistry they really have during their bonding process. It just never gets old for Me watching someone react to their Sing-off journey over and over again. I remember how I felt back in 2011 as this was happening; when you get to PTX's 4th performance, check out The "Dartmouth Aires" 4th performance as well; The Aires were PTX' best competition in the 5th and 6th performances also. While he's put out a lot of solo, original music since 2019, this song is a solo version of a collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Joy Williams that is on his recently-released 11-song, all-original album. The combination of his voice, his guitar, and the acoustics of the church make for a stunning piece.
