I hated the stubby at first, but after going through all the OCs I found that I really like Stubby with Turret EM Discharge. The Turret Arch is a little finicky and a bit of a pain to set up in a meaningful way, but discharge is super easy to set up and use.
Turret arc is definitely a more team oriented overclock needing more engineers using Gemini turrets to really use. With turret discharge you can stick them in a chokepoint and just keep the bugs away with the electric blasts
idk why but the stubbby is just my favorite engie weapon by a lot. It just feels good firing it. The sound it makes, the static building in the enemies, the quick and sweet reload, and unlike his other 2 primaries, it doesn't feel awkard picking off low health enemies.
My favourite build is “i hate my buildings” Turret discharge and plascrete catalyst Unironically a extremely viable build for crowds and large enemies alike
The Em refire booster goes crazy with the shard diffractor's hydrogen rupturing Harder to aim at longer range but landing just one electric shot means you can swap to the laser and evaporate whatever you just stunned (probably a mactera screw those guys, but its also just good for lighting up a high priority target like a stingtail or praetorian)
I've been thinking, some weapons and builds, especially for the driller and engi, are better suited for bosses. I haven't tried the SMG yet but I feel it does a much better job at single target, consistent damage than the other two options. Edit: Oh yeah, one other great reason for me to mention this is because I hate using either the shotgun and the loki rifle against the caretaker, since they are extremelly unreliable in that particular boss fight.
I find the Warthog great for taking care of the appendages and Caretaker corner spots. Usually run the Breach Cutter or Shard Diffractor for the damage phase of that fight. Engineer’s secondaries are generally better for handling bosses
@@matheusviolante8364 yeah the only real single target dmg is the epc with tcf cus the sabata is kinda bad and the wave cooker is a good swarm kill but drillers primary do swarm
the voiceover is wrong at 5:02. It's easy to spot, as you thankfully put the stat comparison on screen, but the -1 is not to reload, but to damage instead.
Note that J said "theming", not "naming". The charitable take: being kind of silly, indulging in exaggeration, meming, basically reminding players to think for themselves instead of taking his word for it. The uncharitable take: clickbait, naming the series something deceptive to satisfy the Algorithm.
@@RenegadePawnHuh, you're right, he did say "theming". I had to listen reeeal close to be sure, but in the end I did mishear it. And yes, it's always possible to argue that doing something that seems illogical or counter intuitive (from a critical or even close minded point of view) for the sake of a joke, and I will grant that it works, no questions there. But if you're calling people out for not following along with your joke or your vibe, it's only fair to say that both parts involved are equally at fault.
As someone who has used Turret Arc extensively, it’s especially great in Elimination. Although it won’t always damage them, it heavily slows Dreadnoughts who are caught in the arc, and electrifies them, which you or your teammates can take advantage of with mods which deal more damage to electrified targets. This is an especially deadly combo with the Shard Diffractor, with armour breaking, hydrogen rupturing, and weak point damage mods.
This has been thrown out multiple times, but Turret arc still needs a rework. to allow shooting just 1 turret allows the arc to connect to all turrets in range. Not sure if they fixed it, but its been bugged that the mod to increase electric chances wasn't working right so it was taking way too many shots to activate. That combined with by the time you have built your second turret the first one is so far away, or hidden behind a hoard of bugs shooting both turrets can actually be quite difficult or dangerous. It nees to allow you to build both turrets, and then just simply shoot the turret right next to you to get the electric current going across all in range.
I love the stubby so fucking much. It's great with the shard diffractor. You can apply electric to big enemies with stubby to get the damage boost for shard and just MELT praets and oppressors.
Stubby can be very good but it is very situational, and I feel like it definitely isn’t as strong as explosive chemical Loki or magnetic pellet alignment turret whip warthog as a general purpose weapon. Like you said, it isn’t the best at pure damage but it is good at area defense and crowd control, not necessarily killing them though
I wish stubby had better overall stats. It's super neat to have synergy with the turrets, but man it needs some tweeks atm. Exe and ECR are just so broken atm that stubby and shotty can't keep up when playing in haz 5. More ammo, more shock, more damage, less recoil all around would be great for it!
Need to point out a few things: #1 There is another Fully automatic weapon for the Engi, the Shard diffractor. But it's not a primary so not that big of a problem. #2 And that is a Problem imo. You said the 2 Dmg from EM Refire Booster goes to the tick damage of the electrocution damage. That is wrong, it is Electric dmg and it has the same resistances to it like the tick dmg. It counts as dmg per bullet in is a flat buff to Stubbys DPS
Kinda wish stubby had a damage focused overclock. I run rj250 and use stubby em refire for single target damage (ignoring any electricity bonuses) when im not using cycle overload warthog. Just kinda wish there was a stubby overclock that gave it more weakpoint damage or more kinetic damage that didnt make half the overclock electric damage focused.
You got your wish with Hyper Alloy Assembly! + Weak Point damage and a massive accuracy bonus, at the cost of severe recoil. If you can compensate for the recoil, it should shred through bugs.
@@mailcs06 that I did! Been giving it a shot lately. Recoil is annoying to control, but it does wipe out bugs fast. More of a burst fire than a full auto for me atm
It needs one more unstable over clock...akimbo. you get another SMG, accuracy is shit, but you get double ammo, double rate of fire, twice the reload time, and 100% more fun.
Now that we can electrocute dreadnoghts Stubby found its way after the recent Buff into my Boss Burner Loadout. I think it might be the highest Primary weapon DPS on Engi in the game with EM Refire Booster in 12123. But I need to stresstest it against Warthog cycle overload in 22122 so mb I am wrong.
Okey I did now the Numbers for Damage per reserve. Stubby in my configuration can do 7650-9337 with all ammo reserves when you hit all bullets. Warthog in my setup up to 8820 if all pallets of every shot hit. So in terms of ammo management and max dmg output on DN Missions Stubby is now supperior to the Warthog on average. Doesn't tell much about DPS, but controlability also plays into account. So it tells me now that I did the numbers what I already thought. Stubby over Warthog on DN
EM Discharge is vary potent and can easily kill the rival caretaker if you can find a good spot to dodge everything. This requires you to smash your turrets right up against it but that's what platforms are for

Man we need more turret types maybe fire turret
Shoot it with the shard diffractor
I have been hoping the other parts of our gear get Over clocks so maybe the engi turret could get elements in that way
The electric slowdown pairs well with breachcutter and pairing it with lures gives you nutty crowd control.

Turret arc works well with repellant pads if you know where bugs are coming from you can funnel them into your arcs.
