    Strangely, in the Star Trek universe, humans always win in the end. When the Borg debuted in the second season of TNG, they quickly became the bogeymen of the universe, the stuff of nightmares. The very mention of their name turned the hearts of seasoned, battle-tested admirals to mush. They were virtually unkillable, and there were millions of them. At Wolf 359 it took almost every ship Starfleet had with phasers running and they barely made a dent in a single Borg cube. Then, just a few short years later, one lone ship, Voyager, stranded 70 light years from home with no access to Starfleet's vast resources and no way to upgrade, was able to take out a Borg cube with two or three photon torpedoes. Yes, the Intrepid Class was more advanced than the Galaxy class (Picard's Enterprise D) by this time, but still.

    • @asianthor

      Exactly, and the Borg assimilated thousands of other species and many were far more advanced than the Voyager ship and somehow they were able to fend off and beat the Borg, and also specie's 8472 were beaten by Janeway and company.

      Considering how all the rehabilitated Borg drones we encounter in the series are far superior intellectually to the average human and the collective is made up of trillions of these minds working in unison; it makes no sense that Voyager is able to employ any kind of tactic or technology that they have not already anticipated. But this is of course a contrivance of all Star Trek media, the crew of protagonists is always far more competent than is plausible.

    I don't get how ONE Intrepid-class vessel can virtally eliminate The Borg whilst dozens more couldn't even put a dent on a single cube in Wolf 359. I thought the only vessel design to fight The Borg was the Defiant-class? ST:VOY really jumped the gun with making arguably the single greatest threat to the Federation into nothing more petty than the Kazon.

    • @develynseether4426
      @develynseether4426 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      The Borg were practically an unknown by Wolf 359. Rumours, speculation and only one confirmed Starfleet vessels logs and tactical data. Plus at Wolf 359 they had all of Picards knowledge of Starfleet tactical abilities.
      After Wolf 359 they had more understanding plus information from other races.
      Don't forget after Scorpion they had a former Borg drone aiding them, that's gonna give them an advantage.

    • @dmanc85
      @dmanc85 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@develynseether4426 For all we know in DIS that Robo-Leland is sent into the Delta Quadrant where the Borg begin, the reason they don't know anything is because DIS Season 2/3 moves Section 31 into the shadows as I've not known it to be so blatant to the point everyone knows about S31 and they even had a S31 (Ash) on the bridge of a starship. In regards to getting Robo-Leland into the Delta Quadrant depends on exactly where they are when he gets sent, if they're in the Alpha Quadrant he could be sent into the Delta Quadrant by "each action has an opposite and equal reaction" clause that Tilly said. If they're in the Beta Quadrant that'd send him to the Gamma. Who knows? As for the nanites, for all we know the United Earth Government then UFP harvested some from the Borg drones they found during the ENT era.

      Moron. Wolf 359 was way sooner than Voyager. Voyager had far more advanced technology than the crappy Wolf 359 fleet. And over the course of the series this specific Intrepid Class ship got improved more and more.
      Don't just complain, put it all into it's fitting perspective at least. You can not compare the effect on the Borg cube from two totally different situations and their circumstances. It is awkward that you weren't able to think of that yourself. As I said, moron.

    I’d like to see an origin story for the Borg.
    Obviously, the Borg Queen is a humanoid species, what lead to the species evolving into what we know as “Borg”?
    Was it simply their species military that consumed the rest?
    Near mass extinction?
    experiment or project that lost control?
    It would make an interesting series or couple episodes at least.
