Food is good in Iraq .not convinced you will love it there as there isn't really much to see and do. . Go North to Kurdish area as its the most interesting part of the country in my opinion.

Its called (Morka) Iraqi word we use it to describe the dish the closest thing I can think of to english is gravies/broth We have Different types like Morka bamya (Okra) ,Morka fasolua (beans), and many more usually we eat it with white rice. In Iraq this every day lunch meal and usually at home we add chunks of meat with it.

We dont have realy a BNB like system in Iraq so you will fine thay good hotels are on the expensive side. I would recommend for your next time visit to be connecyed with somebody local before you visit as it will make life much easier for you. Good luck.
We changed to a hotel in the center next to liberation square and was great! It was Eid so expensive and we couldn't afford that's why we were in that place!
