Had the pleasure of seeing him front row when Harlem River Blues was released. He was doing well then and let me tell you that no other show I've been to has topped that, including Bob Dylan.
Man, we were related and we knew who each other were before we ever hung out. And being the same age , we would always hang out at homecoming in Texas, which is Earles family reunion basically. We got into some trouble once and they would bring him around for a while . But that's tremendous praise 🙏. I was I guess too close to it so I was aware he was performing and put it off for a while. But when some co workers were stoked about a new record and the had tickets to the show that night for JTE , I was like well I'm coming. They informed me it was sold out and I informed them I don't care I'm getting in , I was blown away , jt had that crowd in his palm . He was super surprised to see me because it was in Portland. We talked for a long time . It was cool reconnecting. He did amazing seeing him in that way was crazy . Last time we were playing punk rock on guitar passing it back n fourth. He had balls to even attempt to be a singer songwriter with that middle and last name and he nailed it .
I remember when my friend first put on me onto the folk indie/rock country scene before that I was a die hard hip hop fan if you didn't listen to rap you didn't know what good music was but, my friend gave my first two albums back in 2017 the first The War on Drugs' A Deeper Understanding and JTE's Kids in The Street he said start with Maybe A Moment from JTE and with Pain from The War On Drugs now, fast forward to 2022 and we just one giant fat snowball of 7 minute killer songs and 4 minute on repeat ballads. Thank you for everything JTE, everyday your music pushes me through another battle and keeps my demons at bay where they belong in order to make sense of the crazy world and to take everything as that comes with a grain of salt and to not get confused by the storms that will come to pass and as the sun shines on another day the water will make my grass greener 🤞🏼 LLJTE 🕊️
He was a cousin of mine and I'd like to think the very reason why I quit cold turkey . He was a very talented dude and cool . He had balls . I used to only see him every few years at reunions at the family church and now he rest there .
This is just so sad... if that tour had continued he would have been in NYC/NJ in the next few days, and we made plans to hang out that whole time. The fact he couldn’t tour anymore and didn’t have that outlet put him in a bad place. He was so lonely at the end. #ripJTE
JTE was NOT lonely & his family loved him. My husband was the same, you can beg plead get on your knees to please stop, get help, but you have to understand that it may be hiding a mental illness like my husband did. Vodka Dark Navy Rum, all them spirits with a high percentage of alcohol should be banned. X
This has to be one of the last recorded shows of his. Happy birthday JTE. I wish I had made the effort to know him but I figured there was time and I knew he was gonna be huge. I wish the show at the ryman was still on but I am close to his resting place and about to he'ad there
This was his last in-person show, to my knowledge. It was the first (and only) show from the tour- they had to cancel the entire tour before Brian Fallon even finished his set that night.

I saw his dad on his first post lockdown show in guene Texas and Django walker showed up and they announced the next day they were doing a record. As kids they didn't let me and justin around each other after a few incidents when they would be down for reunions. Last time I saw jt was at his grandfather's funeral standing in the very spot he would be laid to rest at.
@@danielmims8467 if I recall correctly, he was supposed to tour with Brian Fallon and the Howling Weather. This show was in March, and at that show Brian canceled the entire rest of their tour. I'm no expert, it's possible he still could've have played elsewhere? But someone else had mentioned this was his last in-person show.

I put flowers on his headstone at homecoming . The song they killed John Henry could be about him too . It's hard to listen to

JTE and John Prine’s passing had such an effect on me like no other artist’s passing has. 💔
