We think this could actually be the MOST SPECTACULAR place on earth! Honestly Olden blew us away with it's stunning scenery and the friendly locals who welcomed us with open arms! Olden will hold a very special place in our hearts. ❤️
Join us on an early morning cruise through the Norwegian Fjords, sailing past the snowy mountain and quaint little villages scattered with red and white houses. How many waterfalls can you spot throughout this vlog? Take a guess in the comments below and we will pin the correct answer! 😊
We took a trip up Mount Hoven on the Loen Skylift, this was the most incredible experience. I would urge everyone to give it a try, even if you don't like heights. The boys enjoyed every minute and said it was their best day EVER!
We booked with Olden Adventure the same morning (Top Tip!: Get out early to miss the crowds!)
Just head to the little grey hut directly in the port to buy your tickets. You can also preorder them here:
You then join the queue to catch the blue shuttle bus to Loen Skylift which only takes around 5 minutes. Another 5-10 minutes taking in the views and you're on top of the mountain, with the MOST INCREDIBLE views!
We enjoyed a good few hours up there and visited the Hoven Restaurant which do really nice hot chocolates and coffees. (Not forgetting the delicious cinnamon rolls!)
We look at the gift shop and buy a couple of souvenirs before heading back on the blue bus back to the ship.

We went last June. It was glorious weather and we loved it too. We didn’t see the igloo though. That would have been amazing. My daughter is going in just over a week and taking her little boy who is nearly 2. I hope there’s some snow left for him to see 😊

We’ve just done Norway went on the 11th May, with MSC Virtuoso, we had stunning hot weather, there was still a bit of snow on the mountains still, Olden looks beautiful, we went to Flam and that was spectacular as well, the scenery sailing up the fjord to Flam was out of this world and Olden looks very similar.
Hi Kath, ahhh that sounds perfect! We saw people's pictures on a Facebook group we're in of the lovely weather you had! Tempted to do a summer cruise to the Fjords now! It looks even more beautiful in the sunshine!
How was MSC? I've been thinking we'd like to try one of their ships. They look quite fun for the children with the waterslides and games.
Yes I've heard Flam is similar to Olden scenery wise, it really was stunning! 😍

Ship was stunningly beautiful, everything was great except food was never hot in restaurant, buffet was ok, had to queue for drinks quite a lot. We did 3 back to back to cruises the first 2 the ship was full and that was just too many people but on the Norway trip there was I think about 4200 it was much more manageable. Entertainment fantastic. Pools warm. Didn’t think pools were disabled friendly, didn’t see any disabled equipment to get a disabled person into pools.
Sounds like ours with the drinks, got one in the end but took a little while to get served. Ours was at capacity too but it was the school hols. I bet doing 3 cruises back to back was brilliant! We wasn't ready to go home at all and could have easily stayed on another week, if not 2! 😊
It's a shame to hear the access equipment was limited for the pools but good that the pools were warm, ours were a little chilly but might have been due to the weather we had. We ended up sticking to the hotubs 😊

If we do this cruise again, we will do this excursion . To experience 'real' snow and the views, no wonder that you didn't want to go down. To go into the iglo must have been a special time for you all, one that you will remember.
Hi Neil! Oh yes definitely do it if you can. We've never seen anything like it 😍 We will remember it forever, and so glad we have this vlog to look back on. The igloo was amazing! Didn't expect it to be that big at all. It's definitely made me want to stay in an ice hotel! That would be an experience!

@seekingwanderlust Hiya! We got them as soon as we were allowed off the ship. We waited about 5/10 minutes in a queue on the stairs before they let us off, then went straight to the grey hut and got served pretty much straight away. Jumped on the second shuttle bus and was on the skylift in no time. 🙂 I hope you manage to get up there and have a great time when you do! 🤩✨️

@seekingwanderlust You are able to pre book via the link... we did think of doing this, however, if the weather was awful on the day or if we missed the port I'm not sure if we would have been able to get any money back. That's the only thing that put us off doing that. As it's spring and coming into summer I'm sure the weather will be alot better now. I'm sure it will give you all the info about cancellations etc on their website... if you've not seen it already the webcam is really good! We loved looking on there before we went, still do! 😂 There's a link to that too if you fancy a look.
