I'm from Finland and I take a sauna 2 times a week. the feeling that comes after a sauna is something that is difficult to fully describe. it has to be experienced. As a Finn, you don't always think about what kind of nature we have. Here, one day, German tourists had just stepped off the bus and I was just coming out of the store. The weather was a pretty normal winter day in Finland -18c. The snow sparkled in the sun and the trees were thick with frost. I heard how the tourists were amazed by the cold air and said OMG, wonderful, incredibly beautiful, if this is not a winter wonderland then what is? and I thought it was just an ordinary nice winter day ;-)
I really enjoyed the vlog and reliving the magic of Lapland. We visited for the first time this past NYE for a week at it was so magical! Currently in the process of editing vlogs from there and tearing up coz it was defo one of the most special holidays we have been on.
Nice recap of all the activities and places. I'm from southern Finland.. maybe one day I'll visit lapland ? :) (ok i've been there as a small kid but can't really remember that trip too much)
Thank you Savilles'.....I really enjoyed your video because you really showed us what you did on your Christmas vacation in Finland and talked to us viewers....I've had enough of all the "music videos" that many people show us viewers without them saying a single word.....welcome back dear Brits......
Ruka is actually not in Lapland. Comes 20km short from Lapland border, so it’s almost the same. But I still hope you had a nice trip and I hope to see you again! -Your taxi driver from Ruka!
Not that finland is cheap but k-market is also the most expensive chain grocery store brand, then again their also the only nearby option a lot of times
Your week looked fabulous! We'll be in Levi for Christmas into New Year this year with our 4 teenage children & cannot wait! Can i ask, did you make your restaurant reservations in advance before arriving in resort? Trying to gauge how busy it will be. Thanks in advance Sheona
Hi, yes I booked online in advance. I did actually change one booking whilst I was away and the availability was good. You just never know so I like to be prepared. Thanks for watching
I was just making people aware of the situation when you arrive. We’d had a very early start and were unwell and extremely tired. I’m sure most people would feel the same about making up 8 beds on arrival
Quick tip. Kuusamo is pronounced "Coo-Sam-Oh", and Ruka "Rook-Ah", Looks like you missed the ridiculous weather; we were in Ruka last week and it plummeted below -30 for several days. I've lived in Finland for many years and never seen so many Brits as I did in Ruka!
I was waiting for this :) Yes actually Ruka is located south of Lapland province but often marketed abroad as a Lapland destination. No biggie I think. Happy 2024, subscribed!
Hi, my knowledge was that it is, just from googling it but thank you for your input. Don’t know which information is correct but it is a fab place to go. 😀
Glad you liked to stay here❤🇫🇮
I’d love to come back. The summer looks beautiful too

They offer that berry juice up there for a reason, it has alot of C vitamin in it, so it helps your immune system fight flu.

"It's a bummer you have to do your own bed" omg, where's your mom to do that for you 😂

@@SavillesTravels okay but it's written to bring your own bed sheets.
@@bobsnabby2298 we didn’t bring our own they are provided but you have to make the beds. It wasn’t such a big deal until you made it one!

Kuusamon kaupunki ei sijaitse Lapin maakunnassa, eikä Ruka täytä edes tunturin määritelmää 🧐
@@paivinyberg2062 Thank you for your info
@@paivinyberg2062 Ruka ilmeisesti lanattava sileäksi nyt sitten 😜
