This is a better video than what the thumbnail and title suggest. You're selling yourself short by fronting content with a hard sell using insane and just incorrect statements (a Lorier is better than a Rolex). Daring people to click is a game that will backfire, because I don't think that such marketing ploys will be as timeless as the watches. If other people like myself are growing irritated with the cumulative effect of content creators creating distortions of meaning, they will stop watching.
@@thewholecut Lorier made promotional images that were similar/mockups of what newspaper ads in the 60s would have been for a watch like this. You can follow the brand's own direction when making thumbnails. This watch could have been shown on your wrist with a blurry shot of a midcentury home interior behind it, or a vintage palm beach house or something. Gotta really play up those themes. Well, regardless, great video!!! I think you sold me on this watch, I will try to snag it this fall when they restock.
Congratulations on your Lorier Astra. I have a white dial version coming this week. It’ll be my 3rd Lorier having had a Neptune for nearly 4 years and I got a Gemini Nero last September. They are great watches and you summed it up perfectly in your video. They have that vintage look and feel but with modern engineering. Be careful they’re addictive and before you know it you’ve got a watch box full of Lorier’s!!
Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine. Nothing else Lorier has done has grabbed me quite like the Astra but you never know what’s around the corner! Cheers, Louis.
I just received this watch last week. It is stunning. Personally I would prefer sapphire but i realize a highly domed sapphire would add at a bit of cost. But honestly might be worth it. Although I actually am ok with acrylic over a mineral glass if they wanted to cut costs. The watch is stunning and the bracelet is extremely comfortable. This is definitely a hit by Lorier.
@@thewholecutyes that’s what usually happens. You get the delivery and then an invoice from FedEx you pay online. When I got my Lorier Gemini last September it was about £90 for the import tax.
Well, vintage DateJusts might be an inspiration there but it's extremely clickbaity already to compare everything to Rolex. And please, don't blur the branding.
At this price with a Miyota automatic it's not much of a bargain. Even a PT5000 would make it for more interesting. I doubt it has solid end lugs, and you would be better off buying a used Seiko 5
It's a Miyota 9000 series movement. I'm sorry I'd take that over PT5000 every day of the week. Plus it helps keep the watch thinner than a PT5000. And the build quality is at a completely different level than a Seiko 5 or most Seikos at this price range. This would easily cost double the price if it was from a major brand.
@@christianaviles2199 I did not particularly want a PT5000, but this would be easily swappable for an ETA or Sellita. This thickness difference is only about 0.4mm, not really worth talking about, but the Miyotas noisy and I prefer not to be bothered by ticking
Miyota would definitely be more reliable that the PT5000. The 9000 series movement was chosen by Lorier because of its high beat and thinness, and I can assure you Lorier bracelets are fantastic with solid links, solid end links and screw pins.
Why are people so obsessed with sapphire crystals?? A hesalite looks absolutely gorgeous on a vintage-style watch! I have several and have no problem whatsoever with scratches
@@cosmodoc I hate to say it but a lot of people just regurgitate what they have heard other people say. They don’t want to put their necks on the line by coming up with an interesting or unique opinion of their own!

I just received the white dial version last week. Quickly has dominated time on my wrist. Just a beautiful watch.
Oh fantastic glad you’re enjoying it!
It’s a real stunning watch. Agree with the points mentioned. Lorier are one of the best microbrands on the market today. Cheers
It really is. I'm excited to see what else they have in the pipeline.
Lorier has a detailed explanation on their website why they chose to use acrylic for their domes
I’m glad they do it looks so much better
I didn’t know about this micro brand. Looks very nice. Thanks!!
Glad you like it :)

great review and great job from Lorier .
Thank you!
Beautiful watch! Is the lumed circle on the dial white or a pale blue?
It's white! It's just the lume that is blue.
Congratulations on the new watch mate. Beautiful looking piece. Enjoy it my friend 🙏🙏🙏
Btw, if you've not yet paid duties, you won't have to.
Thanks Kieron I really appreciate it!
Oh I was under the impression that FedEx invoices you afterwards I think that’s what happened when I ordered from Venezianico.
@@thewholecut That's strange. They don't usually give you the item until all duty is paid. I've always had to pay pre-delivery.

Never trust someone that wears a watch on the right wrist
Hahaha
I wear my watch on the right wrist as well

I like Lorier but would rather take their main EU opponent named Baltic which has the sapphire crystal.
I like Baltic but I don’t think they’ve made a watch as good as this one just my opinion!
@@thewholecut HERMÉTIQUE Tourer is a watch i like. Dimensions are great and the vibes are great. The elegant but explorer type of watch.
