    Dang, it is refreshing to watch an actual mechanic at work! So many "rebuild" channels just buy auction or salvage cars then find someone else to do the mechanical, sheet metal work and painting - then claim that they successfully 'flipped' a car. Ben is the legit re-builder! 🏆👍

It’s a factor 2 barrel car c4 the rear gear was a 2:80, the car was in a bad accident the front core support is from 1964 1/2 , drive side headlight bezel is from a 65 same with the drive door , drive side rear quarter panel is new .I sent this guy a email about a week ago no response

      @@fastautoking154 It must hurt to see what has happen to a good car as that 66. I have a 68 that i bought as a shell so i took on a project to rebuilt my own 1:1 scale model car. I bought the car from a custom body shop that took in on trade to do some work on another mustang. the original owner contacted me to tell me about my car. his was a great story of what he did with the car while he had it, and now i'm writing my own on bringing it back to life.

    • @brian5o
      @brian5o 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow, that is very cool that you found your old car. I'm a little disappointed that vTuned didn't respond to you when you reached out to him. I really hope that wasn't on purpose.
      I owed a 1965 289-2V C4 coupe as a teen in the 90s. My stepdad and I restored it- not concours by any means, just a good, decent-looking, dependable daily driver. It originally was Wimbledon White w/ a red interior and I ended up changing the color to a turquoise very similar to your old car with a black interior. If this car was a 1965 instead of a 1966, I would have sworn it was my old car.
      That 306 engine is interesting. Did you have a 289 or 302 machined to that or is that just an unusual crate engine? I've never heard of it but it does look very related to the 289 and 302.
      I'm glad you found your old car. I wonder where mine is now. I replaced mine with a just decommissioned 1988 Mustang LX 5.0 SSP (Former Florida Highway Patrol car) in 1993, my stepdad took the 1965 over, was rear-ended in it and thought the damage was minor, he traded it for a former inline-6 converted to V8 1965 Mustang Fastback painted like a Shelby GT350. He sold that car a few years later.
      Thank you very much for sharing your car's history with us. You just earned yourself a new sub from me! I always love to hear cars' stories from the people who loved them most, their owners.

    Great vid, thank you. Good you will replace that cowl because there is are 2 areas you cant see otherwise which are called the "hats". These are 2 fresh air intakes made of metal on either side and tend to rust around the seam if water didn't drain properly due to improper seam sealer from the factory at the side drains. Rusty driver/passenger floors are signs of this because it would allow water to enter the interior through those hat seams.

    I believe where the inner cowl area tends to have issues on these cars is not in the center there but at the sides. Leaves tend to find their way in there through the cowl vent and work their way to the sides where there is nowhere else to go. They sit there, retain moisture and cause rust. Hopefully those areas are good as well but in the event that they are not, it is such a common problem that there should be plenty of parts and info out there for the fix.
    Ironically, my 1965 Mustang was also originally Wimbledon White, mine had a red interior originally and I painted it a color very similar to this one and switched the interior to black. I will say though, Wimbledon White is a cool color, especially when polished up right and it looks great with a red interior in case you wanted to swap out the interior color to really make this car pop.
    If this car would have been a 1965 instead of a 1966, I would have actually thought this car might have been my old Mustang.

    Sweet! I love Goonz but I'm super happy to see someone taking on some classics, Goonz always chase new fancy stuff and it's great don't get me wrong but this is a nice change of pace! I love Mustangs!

    No no no no, listen, your a pro !! Make it a fast back !!!! You will double your money, and if the engine is original then keep it in the car, you will get roughly the same amount of money regardless if you make it a fast back !! Do a lil research on it, right now there is 1 or 2 guys that are doing it as we speak, and a guy who made a 4 door 57 Chevy into a 2 door. Would love to see your skillz on making it a badass fast back

    No, mate. Keep that 289 going. It's a solid motor that deserves some love.

    Having worked on projects like that in the past, be sure to get a new wiring harness and string it through the car while everything is apart. The car looks worth the effort.

    There is more content in this 12 minute video than some channels put in 50 minutes, keep up the good work!

    Dude keep the 289 and c4 combo you wont regret it main thing is mo major mods are required for it and you can squeeze 400 hp outta that motor easily cheaper than making a coyote motor and transmission fit in there. Also when fixing that cowl, fix the air vents ALL mustangs leak around those just due to rust, fixing this will keep the interior from getting wet when it rains.
