I had to laugh at the Bobcat tech asking me how I had disabled the door switch on our R series, Ours did not come with a door. When I said that I have not torn into the cover to see how it was connected from the factory.

Great video. That's a cool little plug in tester. Did you make that or where did you buy it? Would that work on an R series excavator? Thanks

I'm a tech too and greatly appreciate and value your work. Thank you for the help.
I get some machines that are not safe to operate anymore but the customer insists they can be "safely" repaired and put back into service.
The last 743 i "fixed" is an excellent example.
Customer stated the machine will move but arms won't tilt or lift/come down. Machine already creeps as soon as it's on because there are no brakes left and the centering blocks are already worn on both sides after flipping them.
I go to the gin and look at their machine. It has wires running everywhere that they "repaired" previous problems with.
After testing everything and finding current on every wire including grounds I was lost as hell.
Turns out they had a major short to ground through the charging circuit. The entire mainframe was now a conductor.
I figured this out when I was testing grounds and had my hand against the alternator ground while checking the bics valve. Shocked the hell out of myself. To solve this they made a ground system kill switch they turned on whenever they needed the machine.
I immediately stopped work, notified my supervisor and he called the customer.
They asked if I could "hot wire" the entire bics circuit. Boss said yes but it would be stupid and dangerous. Customer agreed and wanted it done anyway.
I ended up having to wire the lift, tilt and bics valve together to a separate relay and switch that was insulated by a rubber block and grounded to its own circuit.
This made the machine usable again but means that as soon as it has power the machine will move and operate even if the operator isn't ready.
This definitely isn't ideal especially if there are operators that are not familiar with the machine.
The machine was still in reasonably good running order besides the extra wires and was definitely worth a new harness but customer declined because it was working fine now.
I'm pretty sure that will be the last repair possible on this machine without a new harness.

I have six of these with different connectors to test multiple circuits without having to change the wiring every time. amzn.to/48tjDbf

I like your little diagnostic voltage regulators that is an excellent way to test sensors on a computerized machine. I was working on a old mini excavator no computer that would start but not operate. I had to get it off the trailer so I applied 12v directly to the solenoids on the spool valve body to disable the various safeties it worked but like you said not the safest option.

I'd love to get my hands on that voltage regulator.UPDATE: Found one...
I believe the switch is not magnetic but an Eddy current proximity probe first introduced by Bentley-Navada. Lots to research. Thanks again for the lesson. Keep it going. Best channel!

Would love to see a video series on what your doing with your S250. Mine just turned over 4000 hard hours today. I keep thinking one of these days something big is going to break, but it just keeps going. I am having an issue, and I’d like to ask you a specific question, but I can’t remember how you wanted us to message you directly. Could you let me know the proper way that you would like to be contacted?

So I have a question if the machine is not running and you can’t get it running and you need to transport it to the shop and you have a trailer is it possible to put the track loader in neutral so it will roll so I can drag it up onto a trailer and if so how

You should of started at a lower output voltage, just in case you overvolt the system and short something out.

Run a toggle switch. Twist singal and hot together. And then run ground by it's self. The switch will work as if the door was on the machine.
