Daggum this video popped off more than I thought. If you're new here SUBSCRIBE! I plan on doing more of these, and will hope that I didn't peak at this video. Seriously, thank you to everyone who watched or liked or subscribed or all 3!
While you're talking about how veterans just play better I was laughing with myself because just seeing you navigate normally you can tell how new someone is, the over turning of the wheel, lowering anchor, trying to argue with pvpers, always at full sails, missing buckets or going all the way to the border of the ship to throw water because you don't know the water trajectory etc etc etc 😂 there is so many small technics that give you a HUGE advantage it feels like the enemy just has no cooldown on anything while you move like a slug and fuck up basic movements all the time 😂, sot is so easy to pick up and have fun but VERY hard to master and get used to everything but when you do all those small things become muscle memory and you just do them and dont even notice, until you see someone playing like you are playing and you realize how much you do without noticing, specially with sounds I swear I can close my eyes and tell exactly everything that is happening around me and react accordingly by muscle memory, AND IM NOT EVEN GOOD 😂 I'm only 167 in the pvp mode you probably dont know the name of, there is multiple ppl I met above 1000 IN BOTH FACTIONS I'm pretty sure if they watch me playing they would say the same Im saying to any new players, multiple small mistakes that WILL cost you the fight 100%, I love this game lol
The reason there's no character creator is because if they did everyone would look like Chad pirate nr 297 or Jack Sparrow. You can get one that looks close to what you want, but never perfect. After a long time of playing, you fall in love with your pirate's imperfections.
For the gameplay I got a pirate change potion with the coins I had earned by playing, but I can't bring myself to change my guy's appearance. I just love his smushed face too much 🥺
I wasn't sure what kind of pirate I wanted to make when I first started up the game, but when I saw my butch blonde femme pirate I knew that was the one :D Only regret is that she doesn't look very good in most dresses, which is a shame because a lot of dresses look better than jackets.
24:30 Veteran here, there are things that allow your boat to go faster, or weapons that allow for other types of combat like fire-throwing skulls, tridents and so on, but these are things like treasure with functions, so as you say in finale you sell that, but nevertheless, it gives you some advantage provided you obtain such an item while sailing 28:10 After some time in to the game, you find more fast ways to get more cash, and start playing for harder guilds like reapers, athena or you own guild, and that have good money too yes PVP is hard to the new players, to be good at this you must overcome a lot of failures. as for the shop interface, an item search engine is to appear in the store next season, as announced by the creators P.S. great video
@@gizmo998877 ah good shouts on all fronts! Yes, I hadn’t gotten up to the point to unlock the Athena quests. Almost 60 hours in. Hoping to get to those eventually. Great callout on things like Horn of Fair Winds. Did NOT know about that search feature coming. So that’s awesome. There’s so much to this game, so thanks for your comment and tips!
Sea of Thieves is one of the games where you have to put a lot in to get something out. I mainly play it for the experiences as those are almost instant and almost endless (10x better with a friend). A few tips for new players: -Please turn off your lanterns especially at night as you can be seen easily for miles. Same with glowing cosmetics although it is not as bad. -If you are leaving you ship unattended for a decent amount of time, it is always better to have you sails up and anchor up, than anchor down as it is much easier to get moving if you are under attack. -The skull of siren song quest when completed grants 50,000 gold. It is great for easy money as half the time you are uncontested. The quest can be accepted by using the ghost note that sometimes appears on your mast.
Great tips! We did the skull mission ourselves a handful of times, and it was always a rush when we went to deliver it to captain Brigsey and saw ships on the horizon trying to take our loot!
Regarding the lanterns comment, any halfway aware crew that has more than a couple hours in will instantly spot you the second you pop on their horizon, lanterns on, or off. This game teaches you very early on to always keep an eye on all directions and every experienced player does this subconsciously. Turning your lanterns off won't help you stay stealthy against the players who will come to sink you. It would only (potentially) hide your ship vs brand new players too overwhelmed to look at their surroundings that you could've fended off easily in the first place. You'll be sacrificing your own night visibility on deck for nothing. #justKeepThemOn a quick comment about anchoring in general. The anchor is used to stop your ship's forward momentum and not drift off your parking spot. But raise immediately. You'll sink instantly if someone catches you with your anchor down. Get used to managing your speed with sails and only temporarily drop anchor if you overshot. Anchor has a few other uses like anchor turning and storms, but in general, avoid ever having your anchor down. ESPECIALLY if you're away from your ship.
I have about 430 hours on the game, 70% of which I spent solo. This is a pretty much bang on review (and really well edited, good work dude). I would add that the skill ceiling in this game is astronomically high. You think that's an ocean you're sailing on? Wrong. It's a salty mix of tears and sweat from the playerbase. I know you touched on this, but new players consistently bemoan the sinking from higher skilled pirates. If someone is willing to put in the effort to improve their PVP skills and enjoy a challenge, I say SoT is worth the time. The naval combat in SoT is second to none. That specifically is what hooked me on this game. Sinking a ship is just a pure endorphine rush and I mainly just do Hourglass now because of it. A big negative of this game though is the severe amount of glitches and exploits. It's just a sea of bugs sometimes and not small ones at that. Server issues, desync, hit reg, ocean glitches, ect... It's definitely a turn off and Rare is slow to fix anything, if at all.
😂 It's a super sweaty player base lol. But I did run into some pretty cool people too. The addition of the AI controlled ships help to get a new player acclimated, and practice a little before attempting to fight another crew (and probably getting sunk).
@@Buddahmonk I'm already in lvl 200's (which is low for HG levels) in SoTF. After playing against HG sweats for long enough, fighting adventure players is like slapping around a handicapped midgit.
Would make grinding for some cosmetic sets much less of a hassle! It's still doable for sure, but feels un-incentivising (is that a word?) to complete them.
Something I've recently realized about gaming is that "easy to get into" usually means the game isn't gonna have any depth and people will complain that there isn't enough to do, funny thing is those same people won't dare dive into a game with actual complexity to give them that "content"
I think that’s really true actually. I know a lot of times it depends on my mood if I want to play a game that’s just mindless, or if I want to dedicate actual brain power to learning.
In terms of rate of gold per hour, this game is all about risk vs reward. The lowest risk faction, the hunters call simply has you catch fish or hunt animals and cook them to sell. This will not get you much gold but it is very unlikely you will be a high priority target for other crews. While if you are representing the highest risk faction, the reapers bones will expose you on the map for everyone to see you at all times. Once you reach grade 5 as a reaper emissary, other crews will know you have loot and be highly incentivised to come and try to take it from you. But if you manage to fend everyone off and turn in the loot to the reapers, everything you turn in will be at a 2.5x gold multiplier. Unlike the other factions which will only give you a gold boost for their own loot, but you will be hidden from other crew's maps.
1 the crew at 16:05 is a perfect example of bad pirates. they will gloat at sinking new players and curse you out if they start losing, as a longtime player of sot if i saw that happening id sail over and sink that galleon. the only good excuse would be if they needed to sell and didnt want to risk a wildcard, its a lot faster and more efficient to get supplies from a sea fort. 2 as for not knowing to scuttle, if your pirate dies enough times in a short span of time a prompt about scuttling your ship will appear. 3 there really isnt any other thing they could let you spend your gold on that isnt cosmetics without giving players who have been playing an advantage over new players which is why they only sell cosmetics. 4 amazing video and breakdown of sot. good job and i hope you are doing well, if i ever see you on the seas ill be sure to show you some of the games more unique "features"(unintended ,non gamebreaking, bugs).
I actually had no idea about 2! That's good to know. Thanks for watching and commenting! Seriously, I'm blown away by the encouragement here. Hopefully I'll see you on the seas 🏴☠️
Omg 😂😂😂 the PVE segment had me rotfl so hard! The music and all man, you nailed it bro. Haven’t finished watching yet but I really hope this video gets a ton a views. By Rare, vets, and newbies. Cause the perspective for the new player is spot on!
Thanks for watching! It's already gotten way more clicks than I could've ever anticipated. That segment evolved a lot through the editing process, I'm glad it landed.
Hello! Veteran player here with over 1000 hours, peanut butter, ghost, and skelly curses, and a huge love for PvP. I hope I can help new players a bit on their journey. First off, amazing video! I was interested to see the perspective of new players joining in so late in the game. Very well done, and I appreciate getting to understand what it's like waking up in that tavern for the first time so far in. Also, I'm sorry. I already know this is going to end up being longer that I anticipate because I love this game so much. I'm so passionate about it. It makes me happy that there's still new sailors joining the seas. No worries if anybody feels like skipping over the following novel. I only hope I can help some noobs. Key points so you can skip my passionate rambling that comes after: -If you really need some direction as a rookie, work towards achieving Pirate Legend status. You get this by reaching level 50 with at least 3 factions (typically gold hoarder, merchant, and order of souls). This is a great goal to help you lock in. -Enjoy each stage in the evolution of gameplay as you learn and improve. What you love today might not be the same in a month. -Don't run. It's a PvPvE game. You'll sink before you thrive, but you WILL thrive. You've gotta practice somehow, so fight back. -The gold you earn will increase as your playstyle evolves. Don't get discouraged by the grind. It'll lesson exponentially. -Loot your starting outpost. Check the barrels and stock up. Organize your ship's barrels. -Do NOT touch that hourglass on your quest table. -Raising an emissary flag will give you way more gold and exp, but it comes with the risk of making you more valuable for PvPers. -READ!!! So many new players use the Reapers Mark flag because it looks cool. It says it marks you on the map for other players so they can come fight. -You don't have to do everything. You'll get overwhelmed. There's a lot to do now. Focus on learning one or two elements at a time. Messed around with Gold Hoarders last 3 sessions? Comfortable with that? Maybe try a sea fort today. -Don't stack huge amounts of loot unless you're prepared to defend it. The loot isn't yours until turned in, so go sell! -A sloop is for 1-2 players. A brig *says* 2-3. Please don't try to 2 man a brig. 2 on a sloop is SO optimal. Omg you'll sink so fast in a fight on a 2 man brig. 3 for a brig, 4 for a gally. -Scan that horizon. Knowing where players are ahead of time helps you anticipate their next move. -Keep your ship afloat!!! Don't jump off to avoid a keg or a fire. You can die countless times and it's fine. Your journey only restarts if your ship goes down, so prioritize keeping that ship afloat. To address your point about the gold grind for cosmetics, Sea of Thieves is a game where if you stick with it long enough, you will evolve as a pirate and so will your gameplay. What I mean is, new players are at a stage where (like you said) you're doing riddles, then you see a shiny on a nearby island, then you find a message in a bottle with 5 Xs on a nearby island- You get it. Enjoy that!!! Genuinely enjoy that adventure because that's the stage you're in now. It's fun and once you've evolved into future pirate stages, that all changes. So enjoy that while you've got it. The point I'm getting to is that as a long time player, none of that stuff is worth my time. You will make gold so much faster later in the game, but it takes time to get to that point. The riddles have gotten tedious. We tend to avoid them. A single bronze secret keeper shimmering on an island isn't worth stopping the ship for. 5 Xs on shipwreck bay isn't worth the trouble for the seafarers chests we'll get. In the beginning, it's loads of fun. I LOVED doing riddles when I started. Every little glow was a new expedition. It made me feel like a true adventurer in the best way. So none of those things are wrong to do. They're just based on what stage you're at. I wish I could start my adventure all over again to feel that thrill for the first time. New players, please keep enjoying your quests. Eventually you'll get to a stage where those sidetracking adventures evolve into bigger and better. For example, instead of a shiny object on a small island catching your eye, now your eye is being caught by the fort of fortune that just finished, but wait! Someone's there! They're probably still looting! If you get there quick enough, you might be able to steal an entire Fort of Fortune's loot haul from them. They have emporium sails that are typically seen on newer players! Their ship's bigger, but you know you can take them! These are the new adventures you work up to that are LOADS of fun, and then you get way more gold in way less time. If I raise emissary, go into hourglass, win on a four streak after about 30-45 minutes of gameplay, and then lower, I'm making several hundred thousand gold, not including any flags they had for me to sell. I loved your rogue lite analogy! Yes! Every adventure is new, and every time you sink, you learn and improve. New players aren't ready to make millions off of hourglass or pirating other ships. But you will be!! I think you estimated it would take around 51 hours for you to make enough gold for the entire ashen set. Yes. With the way new players are playing, it would. Focus on what's realistically achievable now. Because genuinely, after the pirate evolution is under-way, you can make enough for that whole set in an hour or two (maybe longer, but no more than one play session). I'm not kidding either. I think my biggest advice to new players would be not to run away. Fight and improve. Learn. Grow. Honestly, having a friend that's a long-time player really helps, but I know that's not a convenience everyone has. If you don't want to deal with other players quite yet, go to Safer Seas. "But the gold and exp is so much less!" Yes. Yes, it is. That's the tradeoff. If you need time to familiarize yourself, Safer Seas is a great starting point. However, that's not "the game." If you want the full rewards, you've gotta play "the game," which involves being a pirate amongst other pirates. A huge portion of the fun is the fear of other people wanting your loot. Then it becomes the thrill of becoming that fear in others. One of the golden rules of SoT is, "The loot isn't yours until you turn it in." No matter how good you get, there will always be crews that are better than you. What you can do is get to a point where it's not as common for a crew to be better than you. Eventually, that will be a welcomed rarity and a really good challenge. So don't run unless there's some toxicity happening or something. Unfortunately, there are mean pirates on the seas. That galleon that said, "you have supplies," was pretty low. I mean on one hand I kinda get it even though I wouldn't do it myself. They're reapers, you raised a flag, that flag is valuable to reapers. But it's a grade 1 flag at that point. Not worth sinking a fresh spawn ship over in my opinion. That was rude of them. The "supplies" would have been base supplies, so while you guys weren't losing anything since you'd spawn with a new ship and those same supplies, they weren't really gaining anything much of value other than your chainshots. And even I would have just asked for them at that point (or cannoned over, taken them, and left). My personal pirate code is to not sink new players unless they have a surprisingly enormous amount of loot. Then, it's SoT 101 time. If you want a metric ton of loot on board, you better be prepared to defend it. Otherwise, if I see a new crew with those 5 chests, that bronze secret keeper, and base supplies because they haven't yet gotten into the routine of looting the starting outpost, they're safe. I'll offer a few tips if they need help, ask to take their chain shots so I can go rob other people instead, and be on my way. If people run however and don't even bother to speak in game chat to negotiate or even attempt a friendly conversation, you're sinking. I'm stubborn like that and will acknowledge that as my toxic SoT trait. You're sinking out of spite. I WILL chase you for an hour and sink you. Please don't run. It's so frowned upon. Because maybe I would have let you go originally, but you've opted into a PvPvE game but aren't actually accepting those terms and conditions. Avoiding combat is one thing. Safely hiding your ship, not engaging others, keeping distance, that's all good and fine. But if someone gets the jump on you when you have loot, welcome to the game. Defend your loot! You do not owe anyone a fight. You don't. HOWEVER, they don't owe you an escape either. I hope to offer you some new perspective: You may lose 100k worth of gold. You WILL steal 200k worth of gold later. It'll always balance out. You'll get robbed, but you'll also rob and it will always balance itself. Also, it might have taken you 3 hours to get that 100k worth of gold. Eventually, you'll find ways to make that in a half hour. I hear a lot of angry rookies say things like, "It took me so long to complete this fort! You're just lazy and don't want to do the work." I'd respectfully argue that sinking another ship is more work. Usually at least, and if they try to defend themselves. The process of having improved, sharpening your PvP skills, and the risk of your ship sinking is all much more work. The time it took does not equate to the work put in. It's all about efficiency, late game. Killing skeletons on an island never puts you at risk like engaging with the people killing those skeletons. Because your journey doesn't start over unless your ship sinks. You can die 20 times and it doesn't matter as long as your ship stays afloat. What an amazing video offering so much well thought out perspective. I hope to see some more new pirates on the seas. Happy sailing.
Wow. What an amazing comment! Thanks for the compliment on the video, but your insight for the game, and genuine love for it really come through here. I hope a lot of new players get to read this because it's encouraging. Also we totally did raise the "cool red skull flag" like our second day on the sea, and we paid the price lol.
Great video! I wanted to touch on the topic of grinding and making gold that you mentioned. For new players, accumulating gold can be challenging, especially when you're limited to low-level quests. However, if you shift your focus to random quests (message in a bottle or skeleton captains on random islands), underwater shrines, or sea forts-both of which are always active, relatively quick to complete, and often uncontested-you'll find it easier to earn gold and level up more rapidly. Additionally, a key point about emissary flags: they’re excellent for boosting your gold earnings, but they come with a risk. The flag drops if your ship sinks, making it valuable loot for other players. Reaper’s Bones can sell it, and level 5 Reaper ships can see all emissaries on the map, making you a prime target.
Thanks for comment! Yeah, I completed a few sea forts and shrines, and they were actually some of my favorite mission types to do! One thing I think I could've articulated better is while you're largely doing the same thing throughout the game, the way that Rare mixes up the gameplay with the same tools at your disposal for every mission is kind of impressive, and I enjoyed the mission variety it offered.
I started with the Steam Release of the game, 4 years ago and I finally caught up with all Commendations besides Hourglass last Season (12). I got 2800 hours in the game now. Some, especially the very old ones, are a chore to complete...
@@LoofaTroopahonestly once you get to know the game, completing almost all commendations within 2,800 seems like a task only a speed runner could pull off…
@@cheddarsunchipsyes8144 I mean it is nearly impossible even for speedrunners cause of that ONE commendation.... That god damn ONE commendation that requires you to kill shrouded 5 times as a pirate legend...
A LOT has changed in even 1 year. I'll look up some tutorials that are a year old, and they're not completely right because of what they've changed in the game.
Been playing on and off mostly solo since 2019, I can say that what you need most is TIME. Like you mentioned, a casual point A to point B plan turns very quickly into a point A to point O gameplay. Especially as most pvp and pve fights usually last 20-30 minutes(I will not even begin to discuss the usual slugfest that is hourglass at times), time is really of the essence. My average game session is around 6-8 hours, so while debating if the game is worth your TIME, also note if you have TIME to spare.
Just a tip for context at 16:00. When you say you have nothing you actually have a emissary grade 2 flag which sells for 3,500 - 4,900 gold. Also the boat shooting at you has a reaper emissary which the grades will multiply the value of selling stolen emissary flags. Also there are commendations for selling flags while using the reaper emissary so they are just playing the game as intended and not "griefing". Also reaper emissary boats will always be visible on the map, so it should be hard for them to sneak up on you.
I got into Sea of Thieves about 2 years ago and absolutely loved it, but I'm amazed how much they've improved the experience in that time alone. Definitely agree with the onboarding, though. I played maybe 20 hours with a friend and one day she was like "oh I can't believe we've never done any of the actual missions in this" and I had to explain that the guilds we were working for were essentially the main missions. The openness seems to get in the way of itself
LuckStat! Thank you so much for stopping by and watching. Honestly an honor. It's really an amazing game that has a lot of the same issues that other live service games do. Very overwhelming to a new player, but also that can be the fun of it sometimes as well.
@@LoofaTroopaif you want to do “missions” with your friends I recommend doing some of the tall tales. Some of them are REALLY tedious but going through hand crafted story adventures with your friends is a great experience
We did a few! But they weren't really into them. I liked them so I did quite a bit more by myself, and I found them pretty fun. I didn't get to talk more about them. If I did this video again, I think I'd talk more about the mission variety in the game..
This is a really accurate review of Sea of Thieves. It’s great that you pointed out one of the things that makes SoT most interesting -the way each day is a brand new and unpredictable adventure and your plans can be quickly thrown out the window. Another thing is that it’s a very social game, and that’s what keeps my attention. I love the interactions with other crews you meet on the seas.
They’re either the coolest people you’ve ever met, or they want to sink you immediately, then sink you again haha. It makes for a super unique experience.

As a veteran player, it’s interesting to hear your experiences. I do agree that it’s hard to navigate the accommodations. I personally love the grind aspect for different cosmetics. I wouldn’t want stuff handed to me to easily. Glad you enjoy it though
im a day one pirate, and SoT is one of my favorites of all time, warts and all. i enjoyed your take and perspective and will be subbing for future content. i will be sharing this vid with some of my newer friends since they are still in their "swabby" phase. keep up the good work, friend. see you on the seas
Wow thank you! Huge compliment. I'll continue to make videos, and hope they continue to do well. Let's feed the pipe dream of being able to quit my full time job! 😆 (kind of kidding?)
I’ve played for about 450 hours, and I have to say, this video is AMAZING at summing up pretty much what all Sea of thieves has to offer, and I’m hoping it will bring along new players. It’s by far my favorite game, and the more players that join and fall in love with this game, the longer it will last. Thanks for making this video and I hope you continue to explore and enjoy the Sea of Thieves!
Good honest review. Interesting point of view. I've been playing for three years now and often wonder what new players think when they start playing. I'm sure it's hard, as much as having to teach someone new how everything works... As you say, it's a game that requieres lot of time and enthusiasm. Now, as a new player, the best thing you can do is to sail and see where the wind takes you!
Welcome to the game! As a veteran with 1200 HG levels, I love seeing people grapple with the mechanics for the first time. Love the video! I hope you keep playing, good luck on your adventures
If you want the ashen Dragon set you need to sell The Tome of Resurrection I, II, III, IV and V. You can find them in ashen treasure chests. If you want to force spawn them, than you can do a raid on a skeleton fort with any of the companies and the last wave before the boss two skeleton captains spawn, once you kill them one of them will drop an ashen key and the other an envelope. Once you dig out the chest open it with the key. It's not a sure way to get the book but a sure way to get a chest that may give you the book. Also the book are only available in high seas.
On and off player here since the Beta, 700ish hours . When i play games i like to set goals, right now i want the skeleton curse, before that reach 10 million gold, before that reach 75 reapers, before that reach pirate legend. I think its fun to shoot for something in these sand box games where you make your own fun essentially
I thought I'd attempt a parley with them... but I could not. Funnily enough, the ship at the intro was also a lvl 4 reaper ship lol. Just depends on the crew I guess.
It would've been a grade1 gold hoarder flag, so worth barely any gold/rep. If they were playing it smart they would've logged that a fresh gold hoarder was on server, and wait for the flag to fatten up a little bit with both rep and treasure, either that or dive to a new server to find an Emi worth sinking. Alas, reaper galleons be reaper galleons.
@@slimeypigeon8741 and thats the problem, diving, they don't know if he was gonna stay on the server, atleast this way they get the flag + some resources
@@LoofaTroopahonestly most reaper boats are pretty bad, maybe its just the 700 hours I have though, they nearly always try to run from my brother and I
One of the reasons why that Galleon attacked you is because they were a Reaper emissary and you raised an emissary flag of your own which puts you as a target for them because it is their job to hunt you down. When you fly an emissary flag you are opting in to PVP because even if it's grade 1 it's still worth money for them
I’m a new player. Love the game, but your criticism about commendations matches my experience. It’s extremely inconvenient to access the requirements for cosmetics I want. Meanwhile, I feel like I’m getting constantly bombarded with notifications for other commendations, which stay on the screen for about half a second. It leaves me overwhelmed and confused.
The game is amazingly fun but as a new player, just be aware that some nights you will be griefed over and over again for no apparent reason. Ive had nights where weve server hopped to get away from griefers just to end up on another server where another group griefed us even worse. Sadly MOST players are hostile but there are a few exceptions and those interactions can be really fun but the overall toxicity of the playerbase is over 9000 :(
It's crazy I'm solo fly at emissary 5 for hours no problem. I'll occasionally see another ship but they rarely come close. My friend goes to the bottom left of the map, completely empty just to fish no emissary and gets swarmed by greifers. He said a galleon and a brig. Crazy how different they can be
Looking at views on this vid vs your others, jackpot for you posting a SoT vid. I liked the video and agree with a lot of what’s said. I’m an old player (literally an old man) so commendations don’t mean as much to me, but even with the bad system this game got me into it. My favorite part you touched on. When my crew and I get on, we make a plan but it almost always pivots into something else and the game has a great way of doing that.
Great video for the newbies/players looking to buy the game! But ur crew losing to a galleon isnt too much of a "skill issue" cause the sloop is smaller and that making it more manuavarable (sorry if that was written wrong english isnt my main language) and by it being more manuavarable its easier to get behind u hit the mast with a chainshot and then board also the galleon is the fastest sinking ship in the game (if i remember correctly) and ofc it takes more time to raise the anchor/mast
I did forget to mention the particular balancing they have for each type of ship which is really well done. Rare definitely did what they could to try and make the playing field even for a sloop vs a galleon.
Alpha player here really great vid. Its true that the game can be overwelming especialy for a new player, so many thing to do but for me sea of thieves is a game that did what other game could not its very unique ( the naval for me its just so great) something to mention tho about this game its thats a Community game by that i mean there a loot you will learn by your friend you play with sometime the crew you fight but mosty youtube video there is some yt creator thar made really good tutorial vid to improve pvp like erin sterling , idbz, massive sponge or kai joi Btw this video was spot on, keep the good work and see ya on the see matey
My biggest tip for sea of thieves is that in every scenario there will always be someone better than you so you need to find some tricks or do something in which you are better to beat them
@@LoofaTroopaa sloop can outrun them AGAINST the wind Wind information is as follows. Sloop, the smallest ship and has the smallest sail, fastest against the wind but slowest in the wind. Galleon, largest ship and has the biggest sails, slowest against the wind but incredibly fast with the wind. The brigitine is in between them basically. For example if you are in a sloop to outrun a galleon make sure you are going against the wind, there are picture charts online showcasing how all the ships react to wind
25:54 maxing your emissary flag takes around 1 hour. By that time you should have ton of loot to sell 👍. Some trading companies (their emissary flags) can be maxed out in 30 minutes (athena's fortune and Reaper's bones).
I have 1000+ hours on the game I would say this is a good run down of the basic gameplay. It is important to note that when you dive you change servers, so do not dive if you like the server you are on. Also DO NOT raise the reapers mark flag(the red one with skull that glows) that is in the flag box as it marks you on the map for PVP.
I actually did not know diving changed servers for you! Good to know. We definitely made the mistake of raising the cool red skull flag on our first day 😅
Nice vid! You spoke about pretty much everything apart from world events. I can Imagine that's because you didn't do many because you think/experienced that there are many players. That is partially true mainly for the Fort of Fortune (cloud of a red skull), the Fort of the dammed (grey skull with red eyes) and the Burning blade (big red ship marked on the map) but often, events like the skull fort (grey skull) and the ashen winds (red tornado) don't have people doing them so you can complete them pretty easy and you can also dive to them.
Thank you! We at least attempted most of them I believe. We were not prepared for the ghost ship battle though lol. But yeah, you’re right. That, and the video was already 33 minutes long lol.
@@LoofaTroopa Yeah eventhoug i have 600 hours mainly solo the ghost fleet is pretty hard but the the ashen Winds and the skelly fort are really easy. For the ashen winds: throw throwing knives at him all the time an dont park your shio too close otherwise the metorites might hit your ship. If you do this you can easily kill him in under 5min wirh a little practise
The first time we did an Ashen Winds event, we parked our ship RIGHT next to the beach. We literally just had a player dedicated to making sure the ship didn't sink 😂
I totally had this view of not being interested in cosmetics as a new player. Why do I care when they provide no real upgrade to my player.. as I played more, and began to recognize certain cosmetics, some that are even unattainable. now, I realize that the cosmetics tell a story themselves. You can look at a pirate or ship set and immediately recognize the achievement they completed. More than saying "look how good I look" cosmetics are a way to silently communicate "look what I can do/did." Since then, I take commendation hunting much more seriously. Earned cosmetics hold so much more favor than purchased ones on the sea of thieves. Great video.
Veteran here (6k hrs) - everything you say is pretty much true. The game is an absolute blast and there is nothing like this on the market. You never know what is going to happen, the game is just an experience on its own and player interactions is what drives this game. I've met a ton of people through Sea of Thieves, visited different cities and even countries IRL to meet with them. The game is an unique gem, it is a social sandbox, total immersion. Sometimes I just log in to chill and listen to the waves, sometimes I'm thirsty for some thievery and plunder. Go and try it, get your mic to work and enjoy the experience, pirates! And remember: the loot is not yours until you sell it. You just happen to have it on board ;-) Cheers!
As a new player I did not care about commondations I just did what I felt like doing and unlocked a lot of them accidently not knowing what it was. Only after a long long time I started to care about them and at that point there were not all to much left to unlock
Loved the video. I’m already deep as a newbie into the seas, my main interests being becoming legend and acquiring lore and history in a more authentic way that just watching some 1 hr game doc. I mostly play a duo, but do a good deal of solo and I can fully agree that sometimes, it’s a game just to put in some earbuds and go sailing. One issue I have personally as a player and maybe people will back me up on this is the factions feel a little skewed. Hoarders: easy. Treasure is everywhere, and it seems most “random items” go to them Order: skeletons. Everywhere. Reapers: sell whatever, sink it all. Athena’s: (not legend yet) sell the super rare shit. Dope cosmetics. Merchants: idk, transport stuff for us. I find the merchant quests are sometimes a little too dull. They take forever with multiple trips and cargo quality sometimes kills me. (Open for advice from more advanced sailors if you have some lol) Looking forward to more from this channel
So true! I haven't done a ton of those merchant quests yet, but yeah.. the vibe I get is just kinda sailing. Maybe I need to dump more time into them to get what they're all about, but I'm in agreement here with you so far.
Thanks for sticking around, leaving a comment, and your encouragement! This video has truly well and exceeded any expectations I had for it, and has really encouraged me to keep producing stuff like this.
Nice video, as a new player myself I agree with alot of what you said. Ngl 90% of the players ive came across has been toxic af but other than that the game is pretty enjoyable.
@@LoofaTroopa most definitely. And helpful too, they will actually try to show you some things instead of shooting on sight. I feel like if more people were cooler and allied more we'd all make more money together. Some people just wanna watch the world burn.
Great video brother. I have about 300 hours and your pov is an excellent observation of this crazy ass community lol. It’s great. Well done with the video. Very informative and entertaining!!
11:32 as someone with 300 hours in this game (that’s a lot for me these days, I haven’t hit 1000 hours in a game probably since I was 9), I also really hate how hard it is to find commendations. I heard they’re doing an update to add a search bar to the shops, so I hope that makes its way into everything else too.
Have almost 1k hours in this game over 2 years and just wanted to say that all of these points are valid. The UI and pure information overload is something you get used to but are never OK with. Even now I have trouble remembering what button makes you leave the map table and where certain commendations are. They say it’s something they want to improve, but it’s been on the back burner for quite a while. PvP is also an interesting mechanic; it is absolutely something special, but even if you get decent at it, the skill ceiling is enormous. Any skill also won’t make you not feel like crap if another crew decides to be garbage people. If you play the game, have fun with the combat, but remember that the other captained ship you’re fighting is full of real people too. Some people (like the “supplies” crew or spawn campers) just see bully targets. Like your conclusion, I’d definitely recommend Sea of Thieves to anyone who has a close group to play it together and improve with. Especially as you learn how the game works, the good times and comedy just write themselves. Hope you keep having fun sailing!
Thanks for your input! I'll definitely be booting this up again from time to time. As someone who enjoys PvP games, but also just want to chill for a bit, SoT offers a good mix of both of these.
@@LoofaTroopa I definitely recommend Hunter’s Call fishing as a great way to chill out; when I first started fishing I’d just put a video or podcast on and fish while I listened. Just make sure to use Safer Seas if you truly don’t want to be bothered, or keep a paranoid eye on the horizon in High Seas if you want some trinkets for your efforts!
One of my favorite things that happened when we played was my we all ran across a ship that was just chilling and fishing at an outpost. We stayed at that outpost and (attempted to) fended off any ship that was being hostile so the guy could just fish. Nothing like that will happen in any other game, and it was so fun lol.
rare said in an interview that they made the pirate generator because they knew if they made a real character creator everybody's characters would either be hot or a homunculus, every pirate no matter how handsome will still look a little bit scurvy
If you're a new player, yes, you will get sunk by people who just wanna fight, but you'll also run into people who have mercy on swabbies. I can't in good faith dunk on new players, and many others feel the same. We all know how vast the game is, and how hard it is to learn all the technical ins and outs. Things like shutting off lanterns, or raising my anchor when I park are second nature now, but aren't obvious for new players. Luckily, there's a plethora of great SoT content to help you learn, no matter what skill you're at. Edit: if you haven't purchased the game yet and are considering, I personally recommend a thin pirate over one of the bigger ones, as being thin makes it easier to "tuck", which is hiding on a ship or island. Going barefoot will keep you quieter when walking on ships or stone as well. On the nature of cosmetics, yes, it'll take awhile for some of the stuff, but as you play and get better, you'll earn more. Stealing from other players, being good at pve, you name it. If you're good enough, you can end a session with over 1 million gold profit (even without gold bonuses like gold and glory or community weekend) though that will take a long time to get to that skill.
That galleon that sank you kinda broke one of the unspoken rules of the game, and as an experienced player i'm sorry about that. the general rule is don't sink freshly spawned boats, and be nice to newer players and give them nice experiences that will keep them playing. this crew was probably having a tough time themselves and sank you to revive their huge ego.
I own Bad Furday (still got the box) and Im never getting rid of it. I have no idea how it was allowed 😂 SoT needs to be played leaving your ego at the door. If losing is gonna make you rage quit, its not for you. People forget that every single sweat was once a swabbie. We've all been through the getting clapped in 30s phase.
I wonder if Bad Fur Day was never released, and we tried to release it today, how much would the internet break lol. 💯 to the second part. One of the best tips I heard was, you’re going to get sank, and that’s okay. Don’t let it ruin your day.
My crew would sink someone for supply we usually wouldn't do it at the outpost when someone spawns in but we have been known to try and sneak the supply off the ship if no one's around and if someone tries to stop us we'd retaliate
That's hilarious lol. Yeah we've definitely sunk others before not know if they had treasure or not, but the only time we sunk someone at an outpost is if they engaged us first.
hello loofa! sea-soned veteran with 2k hours here wanting to give some advice to newer players! Try not to take the game to seriously, when planing your adventure. one of the main reasons people quit this game is because they spend hours grinding at something, only to loose it to some sweaty try hard pirates. i know that it can be frustrating to loose all of your progress in one stroke of bad luck, but like Loofa said in the video currency does not really have any value. The thing that keeps me returning to the game are the hilarious interactions with the other crews on the server regardless of who lands on top. Try putting on a goofy voice and sailing around for fun with a quest as a side mission. The main quest should always be to enjoy yourself! (also amazing video, i love to see a new players perspective on this game!)
Hello Luke! Thank you! Yeah. I think most importantly, Rare gave a really good sandbox for you and your friends to be pirates in that is unmatched by any other game.
For anyone who sees this and is new storage crates/food crates etc. Do NOT count as treasure so you can still dive witht hose kinds of things on your ship
Even I didn't know that! Anytime I had ANYTHING on my ship, the game told me I had treasure that would be lost, so I chose either to sell it or to not dive.
@@LoofaTroopa Idk if they patched it cuz I haven't played in awhile but if you have a trident on board that counts as tressure you or a crewmate can pick it up and it wont count as being on the ship. Take this with a grain of salt as I said, its been awhile since I've played
As a long time player, who hasn't finished the video yet admittedly, I just wanted to peel bakc the curtain a bit. I don't want to give the impression anything you said was wrong, far from it! But a bit of an overview cna help. The reason the pirate generator is the way it is, and why you can't make your own, is variety. Give players the power to make their own character, everyone is going to look the same-ish. Doing it this way improves the overall exeperience because you're not going to run into the thirtieth pirate this weke the same face, and you learn to love your pirate for their quirks, actually ultimately making you feel more connected. Second, theres a general economy to the game. Not the gold itself, but you need people doing the PvE quests to get the treasure, so the people looking for PvP can get rewarded. You talking about the emassary system is the biggest reason I wanted to make this post because you missed this important point. The Reaper emissary flag marks you on everyone else's map on the server, but if you get it to max level you get to see on your map any ships with non-Reaper emissary flags. This helps with that economy because the Reaper emissary serves as an indicator that, Im here to fight. And any other emissary flag is an indicator of, I'm willing to risk a fight in excahnge for more loot. Or at least thats how its supposed to work. A lot of people run the Reaper flag as just the other emissary flags but your boost isn't limited to one loot type. But I think guilds may have helped with that. At least a bit. Regardless: I bring these two points up to praise Rare for what theyre really focused on; player experience. Youre absolutely right about new players being overwhelmed by the sheer ampunt of stuff, I see it. But where this game shines is in how it constantly drives you into new adventures in a PvP setting.
Thanks for the comment! One thing I haven't tried yet, can you level up Reaper's flag by just turning in gold, or do you have to turn in other emissary flags from sunk ships to raise this?
@@LoofaTroopa Any loot will level up the Reaper emissary flag. You can go do PvE quests to get to level 5 if you want. Like I said, some people use it that way since the Reapers accept all loot.
if i'm not wrong, the reason of the character generator, is more to they all look more like real pirates, and also make it so there is no similar pirates in the sea, and every player had a diferent one, is very dificult to get the same pirate exactly as other person
I have 8k+ hours in SoT. I have played since about 10 months after release. Is this game worth it? Yes. It does have a learning curve. It is better with a friend or two or three. I played solo my first year. Learned alot and sank alot yet i loved it. If your new understand you may sink alot if in high seas. You can play safe seas to get use to it at a reduced gold rate and less access to things to learn and not deal with other players. Some players will sink you and are toxic. Others will help you because they recognize your new. My crew does not sink a new player unless they shoot first and will most likely help them. The community for this game is the best there is. I have met many friends through this game. Every adventure is unique and im just gonna do this real quick can easily turn into hours. The more you play the more you will learn. Over time you get better and in 4 to 6 hours, depending on what happens, we can easily make a million in gold now. No other game has created more memories, friendships and adventures than this game. Also if you want to shed a tear try to get together the ships and people to do Glitterbeard. Its an in game tribute to a Rare employee who passed away at a young age. The ceremony to open Glitterbeards hideout and the last journal entry of Glitterbeard found in his hideout is the most touching in game tribute you will ever experience. May the wind be forever in your sails 🍻
By far an all time favorite. Taking an edible, launching a twitch stream/youtube video, and loading up bait and storage crates for a fishing trip and just chilling on the outskirts of the map is peak relax and grind vibes
I’ve been playing since 2022, and I only just learned about the emissary ledger system. You can see it on the emissary pages of each emissary in the menu, however it’s kinda hidden at the bottom and I usually just focus on the level. I had done a bunch of grinding with reapers and made it to master rank accidentally, so I was pretty confused why. Then I learned that I earned these rewards, and it opened up an entire new world for me. Just made it to level 75 reapers and 80 servants, my goal is to get the skeleton curse before pirate legend 😂
@@LoofaTroopa yessir!!! The items are actually pretty cool. Sails, pretty much all cosmetics for your boat. Not to mention a full weapon set and tool set too, but you only get the rewards once per month. I think it takes 6 months total (not straight) of getting to master rank (which is usually million gold or more depending on the volume of players) to get all the items. I’ve almost gotten all the items for the servant rank (that’s the rank below master) but master I’ve only gotten one item - it’s pretty difficult to achieve every month. TLDR: emissary items hard to earn, almost half a year commitment, long yap sesh from me 😂
@@Lemoncoder103 ohhh those lol. Yeah I found those like 40 hours in and was so confused about how to cash it in lol. So many systems running in this game.
I dont envy the struggle of newer players nowadays. I was privelaged enough to start playing when basically everybody was bad so we all got better gradually. But new players now adays are competing with sweats who have played for years and know the game far better than anyone who started
I tried a couple times as a relatively new player, got 3 wins out of like 20+ matches, and one was loss farming. Getting good at hg is super sweaty, but something that I definitely want to try
Ive been playing since the launch, Im happy to see youre liking the game, but if u want to enjoy the game more since it was also one of the downsides you said in the video, at the start dont play for cosmetics and commendations, I started caring about that after 4 years of playing and I finally had my ships and pirate with what I wanted some months ago as I didnt care for a long time, just find something you like with the firsts golds and then let the winds drive you, then you will start grinding what you want. Also the best way to enjoy a game session is do what the seas offer, you shouldnt have an objective before logging in, of course exept when youre grinding for something
That's what I started doing the latter half of my playtime for the review. Definitely more enjoyable, and the cosmetics become a little bonus instead of the goal. And definitely a good tip here! Yeah, finding the world events to do along your way. Letting the environment build your tale is a great tip!
Honestly there aren't many games I sometimes just boot up so I can enjoy the traversal for a little bit before going about my day... Only other games that come to mind would be Spiderman 2 and Red dead 2 Edit: and Elite Dangerous but I haven't played that in a minute
I cant find anyone giving the real answer for the character making reasoning so I will tell you. Everyone of the them is unique and when you choose your pirate, they take it out of the pool.
16:00 It's really a shame how often this happens, especially to new players that have no idea what's going on. There are far too many players that treat this game like CoD or Fortnite, where PvP is literally the only thing to do. Is it against the rules? No, of course not, but it often makes me wonder why they don't go play one of those games instead. I'm honestly curious how many people have bought this game, gotten demolished before they could even set sail, and decided they never wanted to play again. As much as I love this game, sometimes having to deal with other players can be a bit much if you aren't playing on safer seas.
@@LoofaTroopa Agreed. I get the idea of wanting players to eventually move to high seas, but the 30% is honestly painful. I think it should be at least 50%, but I doubt that’s ever going to happen
Rare actually always was more connected to pirates that more game companies the best examples its the donkey Kong Country first trilogy Captian K roll its une of the most beloved villans Rare create when they work with Nintendo im happy they make galeón costumization skins the first thing i do was buy some skins to make the Gankplank galleon to sail the sea in memory of the best games trilogy they made.
28:09 Nope your math is not right. You are forgetting that each play session you get better. When you have around 100 hours you can easily get about 100 000 gold for 2 hour session. I have around 1000 hours on this game. I can easily get around 400 000 per 2,5 hour session.
Woah! I'm not there yet haha. Yeah, several others have pointed out that as you progress more you can get gold faster. Good to know, and I hope others look at the comments to see that as well!
100% right about the commendation sucking ass to navigate and find. Been playing since beta and it definitely sucks. But yeah players will attack and kill you for no reason. Honestly how toxic the game at-launch has scarred me to the point where I just avoid other crews at all costs. It makes it so much more annoying how badly they neutered safer seas out of pure spite.
Safer seas is really a bad representation of how the game works. I guess they wanted that, but I think it would be really fun just to sail the ocean with only AI ships, and not really any negative for it. But I suppose that's not the way they designed the game, and would be unfair to the other players who did play and grind the pvp to get their loot. I see both sides I suppose.
@@LoofaTroopa I get having some limits to safer seas, like not letting you unlock Pirate Legend through it, obviously no Reapers stuff etc. But not being able to access features like your Captaincy ships etc even though you’ve already earned it seems like it's just there to punish you for comtinuing using safer seas at-all. The excuse is Safer Seas is just a tutorial mode- but most in-game tutorials only span like less than five game-session's worth of playtime/content. Bur Safer seas let's you grind up to like level 40 in like almost every guild which seems like alot more in comparison. So feels more like a time-sink trap to create a sense of sunk-cost fallacy for newer players looking to stick-around.
Hopefully a fix is incoming soon for it.. I've read the devs have said they're going to patch it soon, but that they also tend to be slow on stuff they say they're going to do. We'll see!
new players should stop by outposts and sell as frequently as possible. you don't want to spend 2-6 hours stacking loot just to get stolen from, slow progress is better than none if you're getting sunk a lot. in sea of thieves, time is your most valuable currency.
@@jackcarter9861 recording is at 60 fps. I think it does look slightly less smooth than on my PS5 personally. It was my first time working with a capture card to record gameplay, so I may need to tweak a setting or two to get it right.
Last night I befriended a crew of new players. I sailed with them for three hours, helping them learn the game, fighting off other crews, & completing their first vault. I've been playing this game since 2017, I've spent more hours on it than I care to admit, & Im still madly in love with it. I've been in love with it even when the game was oretty sparse. Mainly because of how good it feels to just... be a pirate, & adventure on the seas, & interact with other players.
The commendations and trying to find how to get them is frustrating even for player with more experience like me. Also why are you saying sorry to Skull and Bones? xd that game deserves no respect
I'm about as veteran as veteran can get. I have been playing since the game released. You could only shoot cannonballs and eat bananas. No fishing, no other fruit, and the only thing to do was quest. This game IS NOT one you should spend a significant time on. It is a fun game to mess around with your friends on a friday night or something getting drunk (in game or irl) just messing around- but if you take this game seriously at all, you will be disappointed. It is a laggy glitchy mess, the PVP feels unreasonably unfair if you rely on what would make sense in any other PVP scenario. The naval fighting is extremely frustrating if both crews have even an inkling on how to keep a ship afloat- these fights can take an hour unless someone is able to board, or someone runs out of supplies. I have put 1000+ hours into this game, and I am telling you this is not a game that you should make your "main game".

Sea of thieves, where a 20 minute adventure can become 2 hours
Pretty accurate yea
So true lol
A 20 minute adventure that includes getting supplies and sailing to one island and back lol.
“Lets go in and out 15 minutes adventure”
You will eventually find that there is no such thing as a 20 minute adventure in sea of thieves
I just love his smushed face too much 🥺
Lol so true. My pirate looks like the Giga Chad but has really messed up teeth.
OR hot girls, I remember a lot of Chad's going for that xd
I wasn't sure what kind of pirate I wanted to make when I first started up the game, but when I saw my butch blonde femme pirate I knew that was the one :D
Only regret is that she doesn't look very good in most dresses, which is a shame because a lot of dresses look better than jackets.
Exactly, well said, pirate! The pirate generator is one of the things that makes SoT so unique and I love it. Every pirate is different!

24:30 Veteran here, there are things that allow your boat to go faster, or weapons that allow for other types of combat like fire-throwing skulls, tridents and so on, but these are things like treasure with functions, so as you say in finale you sell that, but nevertheless, it gives you some advantage provided you obtain such an item while sailing
28:10 After some time in to the game, you find more fast ways to get more cash, and start playing for harder guilds like reapers, athena or you own guild, and that have good money too
yes PVP is hard to the new players, to be good at this you must overcome a lot of failures.
as for the shop interface, an item search engine is to appear in the store next season, as announced by the creators
P.S. great video
@@gizmo998877 ah good shouts on all fronts! Yes, I hadn’t gotten up to the point to unlock the Athena quests. Almost 60 hours in. Hoping to get to those eventually.

There’s so much to this game, so thanks for your comment and tips!
Sea of Thieves is one of the games where you have to put a lot in to get something out. I mainly play it for the experiences as those are almost instant and almost endless (10x better with a friend).
A few tips for new players:
-Please turn off your lanterns especially at night as you can be seen easily for miles.
#justKeepThemOn
a quick comment about anchoring in general.
When you play Hour Glass and run into Goldies vs screaming kids “THERE’S SOMEONE ON THE BOAT!” The skill gap is HUGE.

Would make grinding for some cosmetic sets much less of a hassle! It's still doable for sure, but feels un-incentivising (is that a word?) to complete them.
It's really interesting to hear about a newer player talking about the game and its features and flukes and what makes it interesting.
There's really no other game like SoT. That's why it's been able to sustain a player base through it's shortcomings.

Hey man, chainshot doesn't grow on trees.
I agree with that, u need the chains.
True. I'm just not good enough to raise the reapers bones flag lol.
Don't forget that once you reach level 5 Reaper you can see other emissaries on the map table 👍.

Key points so you can skip my passionate rambling that comes after:
-If you really need some direction as a rookie, work towards achieving Pirate Legend status.
What I mean is, new players are at a stage where (like you said) you're doing riddles, then you see a shiny on a nearby island, then you find a message in a bottle with 5 Xs on a nearby island-
You get it.
I hope a lot of new players get to read this because it's encouraging.

aw hell naw, mf wrote an entire essay

Great input! I have 2 kids and a full time job, so I do NOT have time to spare 😭

While you're talking about how veterans just play better I was laughing with myself because just seeing you navigate normally you can tell how new someone is, the over turning of the wheel, lowering anchor, trying to argue with pvpers, alqays at full sails, missing buckets or going all the way to the border of the ship to throw water because you don't know the water trajectory etc etc etc 😂 there is so many small technics that give you a HUGE advantage it feels like the enemy just has no cooldown on anything while you move like a slug and fuck up basic movements all the time 😂, sot is so easy to pick up and have fun but VERY hard to master and get used to everything but when you do all those small things become muscle memory and you just do them and dont even notice, until you see someone playing like you are playing and you realize how much you do without noticing, specially with sounds I swear I can close my eyes and tell exactly everything that is happening around me and react accordingly by muscle memory, AND IM NOT EVEN GOOD 😂 I'm only 167 in the pvp mode you probably dont know the name of, there is multiple ppl I met above 1000 IN BOTH FACTIONS I'm pretty sure if they watch me playi g they would say the same Im saying to any new players, multiple small mistakes that WILL cost you the fight 100%, I love this game lol

16:05 the galleon was a reaper emi, they get money and xp from your gold hoarder flag, the emissary system is a high risk high reward pvp system

When you’ve sold all your treasure, and start to set sail on another mission and you just get a notification about a commendation you completed 😅
The game is amazingly fun but as a new player, just be aware that some nights you will be griefed over and over again for no apparent reason. Ive had nights where weve server hopped to get away from griefers just to end up on another server where another group griefed us even worse. Sadly MOST players are hostile but there are a few exceptions and those interactions can be really fun but the overall toxicity of the playerbase is over 9000 :(
💯
Had a ton of fun playing.. until we would get griefed. Did the devs not put crouching in to prevent teabagging? 🧐

Its true that the game can be overwelming especialy for a new player, so many thing to do but for me sea of thieves is a game that did what other game could not its very unique ( the naval for me its just so great) something to mention tho about this game its thats a Community game by that i mean there a loot you will learn by your friend you play with sometime the crew you fight but mosty youtube video there is some yt creator thar made really good tutorial vid to improve pvp like
erin sterling , idbz, massive sponge or kai joi
Btw this video was spot on, keep the good work and see ya on the see matey
Thank you!
My biggest tip for sea of thieves is that in every scenario there will always be someone better than you so you need to find some tricks or do something in which you are better to beat them
And if you can't beat them, a sloop can outrun them lol.
@@LoofaTroopaa sloop can outrun them AGAINST the wind
Wind information is as follows.
I also recently bought the game on PS5, I've loved the game so far and i agree with all your points. definitely getting a like and sub from me
Thank you so much!! Hoping I haven't already peaked 😅
Treasure is everywhere, and it seems most “random items” go to them
Order: skeletons.
(Open for advice from more advanced sailors if you have some lol)
Looking forward to more from this channel
So true! I haven't done a ton of those merchant quests yet, but yeah.. the vibe I get is just kinda sailing. Maybe I need to dump more time into them to get what they're all about, but I'm in agreement here with you so far.
Great video brotha. I went and checked your other videos aswell you explain things very well keep it goin my man!
Thanks for sticking around, leaving a comment, and your encouragement! This video has truly well and exceeded any expectations I had for it, and has really encouraged me to keep producing stuff like this.
Nice video! I think that was a pretty fair and valid assessment of the game. Welcome to the seas!
Thank you!!
Nice video, as a new player myself I agree with alot of what you said. Ngl 90% of the players ive came across has been toxic af but other than that the game is pretty enjoyable.
I guess it makes those 10% interactions with the cool players really REALLY special than lol
Thanks for watching it!! I'm glad I didn't completely piss off the veteran community of this game lol.
@@LoofaTroopa Your points were right on! It was well balanced in regards to the positives/negatives!
300 hours is still a ton! I don't know the last game I put 300 hours in (well outside of the pandemic but that's an edge case scenario 🫠)
Believe me man, players have been saying they need a better tutorial, or a second, more in-depth tutorial for yeaaaaars.
My first day, I played 8 hours and made 1.25 million. The community is super helpful
The Art of the Sail
Edit: The Art of the Steal is way better here lol
That galleon that sank you kinda broke one of the unspoken rules of the game, and as an experienced player i'm sorry about that. the general rule is don't sink freshly spawned boats, and be nice to newer players and give them nice experiences that will keep them playing. this crew was probably having a tough time themselves and sank you to revive their huge ego.
We literally just read the pirate code that was in the tavern for the first time and were like, "Oh we should be good". Then they started shooting 😭
I own Bad Furday (still got the box) and Im never getting rid of it. I have no idea how it was allowed 😂
SoT needs to be played leaving your ego at the door.
My favorite thing to do while solo is to sneak on an enemy ship and listen to them, if they seem to need help I kinda just become part of the crew 😂
Sneaky li'el devil aren't yah? (please read in a british accent)
There really are people like that haha
Last time I played, I just realized someone was on my ship when they got kicked away as I was diving.
🤣
Regardless:
I bring these two points up to praise Rare for what theyre really focused on; player experience.
That definitely makes sense! But I also want to see those messed up Street Fighter 6 levels of character creation that people come up with lol.
Did not know about the Glitterbeard tribute. We'll have to at least give that a go. I love when devs put super special things like that in their game.
Hold up emissary whaaaaat? 😅
I envy those who can look at a treasure map and instantly know where the island is.
Sea of thieves ages really well as you get better it always feels like there is a different way to play the game
IF NEW PLAYER READ, please do not raise HOURGLASS it is really sad seeing noobs raise hourglass and just get clapped not even knowing what's going on
I never even attempted this once. The open ocean was enough of a challenge to me lol.
No, this man right speaks lies, when you raise the hourglass, you get extra rewards like loot!!!1!1!1!!1
Yesterday I dove in on a noob and he tried to run and died out of bounds 😭
I tried a couple times as a relatively new player, got 3 wins out of like 20+ matches, and one was loss farming. Getting good at hg is super sweaty, but something that I definitely want to try
No, please keep raising HG. I need those levels and not having to fight so hard every time is nice 🙃
Great review, keep it up!
Thank you!! This video has gone way above any expectations I had for it. Hoping I can continue the momentum. (Thanks for the sub as well!)
Hey there ! great video. earned a sub.
Thank you so much!
Honestly there aren't many games I sometimes just boot up so I can enjoy the traversal for a little bit before going about my day... Only other games that come to mind would be Spiderman 2 and Red dead 2
Edit: and Elite Dangerous but I haven't played that in a minute
The traversal in Spiderman 2 is second to none. I've actually never played Elite Dangerous!
There’s no way this guy only has 100 subs
I was at 25 when this video got posted lol. I'm floored by the increase in subs. We'll get there.
Thanks for the encouragement!
TLDR: It’s only worth it if you’re willing to put in the time and effort to improve. This game is a commitment.
HUGE commitment. But it is a good time when you’re dedicated.
I cant find anyone giving the real answer for the character making reasoning so I will tell you. Everyone of the them is unique and when you choose your pirate, they take it out of the pool.
This would actually make sense if it's True! Not one pirate looks like another. I like that actually.
@@LoofaTroopa It is 100% true. I have played since day one and people ask the same question. That was Rare's answer
I just wish safer seas were slightly more rewarding. I didn't really bother booting it up because of how much of a handicapped experience it is.
@@LoofaTroopa Agreed. I get the idea of wanting players to eventually move to high seas, but the 30% is honestly painful. I think it should be at least 50%, but I doubt that’s ever going to happen
If we have a character creator we would have a bunch of jack Sparrow running around
Fair enough!
King K. Rool also making a great addition to Smash.
The point of the 'pirate generator' is to make imperfect pirates
18:00 back in my day we had to physically carry those chests to our ship ladders and then to the individual faction tent! Bah, humbug! :p
@@LoofaTroopa BTW today 610 000 for 2 hour session on Burning Blade (nobody attacks BB anymore so it's ussually pretty easy money) 👍.
I'll have to give it a try! Early days of season 13 it was all the rage, that's expected I guess though.
@4:50 They created the infinite pirate generator to prevent a million Jack Sparrows running around on Sea of Thieves. Ironic, isn’t it?
"You have to be the ugliest pirate I've ever seen"
"But you have seen me"
4 year player here, you hit the nail on the head in terms of connecting store cosmetics with commendations. It's horribly clunky.
Hopefully a fix is incoming soon for it.. I've read the devs have said they're going to patch it soon, but that they also tend to be slow on stuff they say they're going to do. We'll see!
1k views for you! Great Vid BTW
My absolute SHOCK when I woke up this morning to see the view count on this video 🫨 Thanks for watching and commenting!
new players should stop by outposts and sell as frequently as possible. you don't want to spend 2-6 hours stacking loot just to get stolen from, slow progress is better than none if you're getting sunk a lot. in sea of thieves, time is your most valuable currency.
Is the recording low frame, or does the game really look like that on Playstation? Series x has about 5 times the frames based off this video
@@jackcarter9861 recording is at 60 fps. I think it does look slightly less smooth than on my PS5 personally. It was my first time working with a capture card to record gameplay, so I may need to tweak a setting or two to get it right.
@@LoofaTroopa I actually made that comment super early in the video. It was just the beginning that was super choppy. Loved the vid
Thank you!
Meanwhile some cosmetics add sight to your pistol or blunder, you just wont be adding a scope or a dot sight.
That makes me feel like I'm not a total idiot for getting lost there lol.
Skull and bones is definitely... a game.
This is how I feel with Apex legends lol
As a 4 month old player to me the commendations are pretty easy to find if you have the name
Fair enough!
great video. Also, I feel your pain, but that's just the name of the game. Give it a shot. There is no other game like it
