Looks like the crew around the 19:00 mark repaired your ship but left it to burn to mess with you. They probably recognised you as a new player and took a degree of mercy on you.
Not sure about the repair. When the ship is beached it can take FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFOREVER to take in water, depending where are the holes. But it is clear the other crew had a level of mercy. I kinda suspect they left this 1 player to try and secure the sink, maybe the least experienced of them to give them experience? Or perhaps full mercy with some drama/pvp. hard to tell. It was for sure a good crew overall tho. Kudos on them.
At the sovereign tent where you go to sell, once you own your own ship, go up the ladder. There's a platform with two harpoons you park your ship in front of the harpoons and you harpoon everything off of your ship. You could sell 100 items in like 30 seconds. It saves so much time
OMG. Just this message makes me want to return to my solo gameplay after 2020 or so, where i've played for like 10 hours but then got bored because of hauling stuff was painfully boring
It’s a real good tip that when you drop anchor, also raise your sails and then raise anchor. The ship won’t move and then when you are done with your island, you can just drop sails and leave much faster.
Just raising sail a good bit before getting to your destination is good enough, but if it's a sudden stop then this is the best thing to do. Always remember, an anchored ship is a sitting duck in High Seas.
100% it did. When he picked up the keg with the hook I was like HNNNGGG!... Lucky he didnt do it in the wrong angle...but prolly shouldnt.....yep...there it is. Heard the lighting, saw the boom.
That's exactly what happened. I know from experience 😂☠️ Now we have set rules: NEVER bring a gunpowder keg on board. If you must, then it HAS to go in the crow's nest. If we are sailing in a storm with any kegs in the crow's nest: GET RID OF THEM. Lightning alone can f*ck up your ship .. lightning + gunpowder keg is a suicide mission 😅⚡
I started the game in 2019 just before fishing and tall tales I haven’t played the last two years and I’m really excited to come back after not playing after fotd
Is that the surface? What's deeper. I've played like for 10 hours or so and didnt experience most of what he did, was just doing missions and hauling stuff - which killed the interest for me completely, as a solo player.
@@alexanderbenkendorf688There are literally thousands of hours of content for you to do. This comment would be way too long if I tried to talk about it though.
rule 1 of Sea of Thieves "If a new player is seen and recognized, you dont mess with them repair the ship or any damages you have done and let them be"
"Or you can trick them into raising hourglass and get a free win. Or you can take them on an adventure and hold their ship hostage. Or you can tdm them for fun. Or give them some loot to be nice. Or-"
I watched this entire video with a HUGE grin on my face. There is nothing I delight in more than the wonder and joy of Sea of Thieves through a new player's eyes. Watching them tinker and learn the mechanics and the little tricks is fascinating, watching them unravel the story of a tall tale for the first time, or the unbridled excitement when we make a huge haul of loot or make it out of a sticky situation by the skin of our teeth. I have been playing this game since August 2018, I am the salty vet who's done basically everything the game has to offer; but it's new players and their enthusiasm that they bring that gives me the greatest joy and makes this my favorite game of all time. Thank you for sharing your experience, and I wish you fair winds and lots of plunder on your pirate journey!
If LOVE you positive energy! You're the OG SoT player all of us newbies wish we had on our crew to show us the way! You're giving real Grandma vibes and I'm so living for it 🫶🏽
man I got like 3 hours in this game, I am not even aware of what awaits me, I want it to stay like this forever but at some point I will also get used to the game and uncover the story and everything game has to offer, I am so happy to start this journey yet afraid it will end at some point. As wise man once said, “It's not the destination, it's the journey". Since I was sailing a real ship many times, even the wooden one like the sloop from game, it makes me feel I am actually visiting Sea of Thieves and that I am one of them now!
@@Karowskiii Welcome to the Seas! You have so much adventure ahead of you :D My biggest advice I'd give to new players is that *this game seems like it incentivizes you to grind; **don't.*** You will suck the fun right out of it. Do things at your own pace, do things the "inefficient" but fun way. Don't grind hourglass or tall tales or voyages or the (sometimes) admittedly tedious achievements unless you feel like it. And as soon as you don't feel like it any more, stop. There's such a wide, vast world that Rare's created, spend time exploring it. I've been playing this game for years and I still discover new things. Find joy in the little things, in the adventures and misadventures your crew has. Rejoice in your victories, grieve and learn from your losses. Make friends and enemies and shenanigans and betrayals. Roleplay, joke, make yourself a nuisance. Hop around and parkour on an outpost for hours chatting with your crewmates at the end of a session. Meditate in the melancholy quiet of the solo sloop experience. There's no other game that comes close to how Sea of Thieves feels, and I don't think there ever will be. Live in the moment and go wherever the wind takes you :)
@@CobaltThunder267 Thank you very much for such guidance I appreciate it a lot! I will never grind this game, I literally play it in slow motion and observe every pixel of it (literally). For now, I was mostly just sailing the seas playing music and getting drunk and following up same irl. This game is such a vibe I can't explain. First fight I had I won 1v3 lol and just celebrated with some rum. Peak gaming! Thanks again and I wish you to magically forget almost everything about game soo you could experience it again!
I'm just getting back into it too. Something I found, when you walk over where something is buried, you will hear a clunk clunk like knocking on wood. Totally helps. Also you can zoom in on the map. I'm playing on console so it's a stick click. I'm sure everyone else knows all this and what not but if not, now you do. 👍🏼
also i want to mention that this was every entertaining to watch, i can barely remember how it was for me when i first started playing this game. But i got hooked very early on. And over the years i've had so much fun playing until i got to the point were there is nothing more for me to grind unless they release something new. But luckily i still meet some cool people on the seas and that is what drives me to come back
i love watching new players figuring things out. So funny, hope you keep playing, now you can make your guild, lots of cool new stuff on the horizon for next 2 seasons. I think you would love the pirates of the caribbean adventures.
I recently got into the game as well and its wild how differently everyone starts off! I pretty much never touched the shrines and treasuries until much later. I just kinda slammed my face into the big world events, which tend to attract a lot of people. It led to me sinking a lot, but it was great for learning solo pvp
What a great video! It's super refreshing to see Sea of Thieves through the eyes of a newbie, reliving my first time playing all those years ago. I hope you're still enjoying yourself out there! I hope I run into you sometime - Your play style is super chill, and you seem like a genuinely nice guy :D
as someone who's been playing since season 5 i love seeing new people play this game i really hope you enjoy this crazy adventure some day you will become pirate legend and look back to this video and see how far you have come
@@benjamindeh873 just started playing sot for the first time today, I just got endlessly killed by some sweats who chased me over the whole map what's the point in doing anything if Im just going to get shot not an enjoyable experience
@@andybudz6247 Sorry to hear that. There are indeed some useless sweats like that. Next time it happens to you just close the game, open it again, and you'll spawn in a different server if you refuse to rejoin your older session. This is not SOOO common, but they are around, and you will meet people like that again. While you learn to run and avoid them just deal with them that way.
Hey ! loved the video. i've been playing sea of thieves for a while now so here's a tip : you know how some times there are skulls or ship clouds in the sky ? well that's world events and they are really fun to do. since everybody in the map sees it, you may encounter other players and have to fight for the loot. oh and to become a pirate legend, you have to be lvl 50 not 75. One last tip : you know these three guys, the one where you sell skulls, the one where you sell chests and the one where you sell crates ? well you can buy quests from them. The best quest are the quest from the chest guy. you can buy a quest where you get a key to a vault then you can go to the vault and find a lot of chest. And if you want more people to play with, i'm free ! it's always a pleasure to help new players.
SoloSlooper since Beta here. I love the way you went into the game, a good mixture of PvE and PvP. You defenitely grasped the idea of gold not being worth alot already. It's the Commendations, that unlock the rare Cosmetics, where the beauty of this game lies ;-). I often find myself just grinding the numbers in the pirates log instead of the visible treasure in the game. A warm welcome to this gem of a game from my side. Cheers!
As someone who gives zero f's about cosmetics - this game felt shallow and boring progression-wise and i'd have played it for the gameplay, if not the PAIN of hauling items separately one by one to the ship and from the ship. Hauling is SO BORING.... If only you could haul like 4 at a time while playing solo, i'd happily play then. (I only play solo)
You should try focus on pvp then. Rob people, that did the "boring" part for you and harpoon everything out the water. Also the selling part is now fixed for Soloplayers with the Souvereigns.
@@valfareberbork8088 Not interested in pvp too much, but could give it a try. I didnt even know you could harpoon things until this video lol. Thanks for the advice!
@@ouzounicus6126 I played some years ago. I dont like pvp or cosmetics. The game was really cool in gameplay but felt sooo repetitive cause i was just doing the same things over and over, killing the same skeletons and finding chests with gold. Dont know if the game still like this, saw the video to find that and didnt..
lmao. when you are killing that meg, you kept calling that fort tower a ship which actually made me feel nostalgic. when i first started, i legit thought everything was a ship and was scared to death
I absolutely loved all that! I'm only a couple of days into the game and have zero clue just yet and after the tutorial the game took me to Safer Seas automatically. I picked up a couple of missions from merchants and I'm about to log in, set sail and see how it all works. I'm glad it dropped me into Safer Seas really as I can learn the basic game/adventuring mechanics as if it is an extended tutorial. After I feel like I can handle the ship and missions, I'll maybe try High Seas. That said the next season is about to land and I think that will change the game a lot, so I may as well stay in Safer Seas until the next season drops.
Super cool to watch your first experiences! I fell in love with this game a few months after launch, and with it's constant additions it's become a very cool game to explore. You'll find jerks like in any game but also could find some really special encounters. That's what keeps me coming back. I've got so many memories of encounters, failed and successful. Many funny stories. I'm happy to see people digging it, and if I come across new players in the game, my mate and I are always down to lend a helping hand. Keep at it!
i don't know if you're reading this, just want to give ypu a few tips 3:42, 18:24 It's really hard to use cannons with your sails dropped all the way down. The optimal way to set your sail for the fight is only halfway down. This way your ship is moving slightly slower and is not affected this much by waves. 5:46 You should do everything to not let other players et on your ship during fights. If they are going for a ram try to turn out and get away from them. You could also use that to your adventage. Ramming ship is the most vulnurable ship, because you are out of reach of its cannons and you can shoot at them if you have an angle. 21:15 When the meg attacks you ship, you can jump to avoid knockback. 25:14 Dealing with skeleton ships is a lot easier if one of the crew members boards and kills skeletons, so they cannot shoot or repair the holes made by the cannoneer.
Man this was a great video. This game is still fun for me but really when you just start playing is the best time. going around doing your first quests, finding new features, meeting people who show you cool things. Idk what it is but learning the game is so much fun. knowing everything and grinding just doesn't have the same feel as going out and exploring and discovering new things.. this video bought that feeling back for me, and I enjoyed every second.
Its the exact same feeling i have with the newest Zelda games. Its amazing to discover the game, but the news ends too soon then if you arent the type that likes loop gameplays you just get bored at some point. Completly different from Skyrim that when the news ends it still have the progression in skills and itens and all the lore, stories and world.
Surprisingly good gameplay for a day 1😂. I do have a few tips to improve it tho 1: raise sails instead of anchoring for a faster escape 2: cannons will always land in the middle of the screen, unless you’re turning 3: raise sails halfway for sloop pvp, you’ll hit more cannon shots 4: try to get an emissary license ASAP, you make much more gold that way
as a new player, I just suffer being alone and running from people (tbh only 1 of them could get me, bc I was in island) and I am grinding like hours alone
It’s just so beautiful sailing through the sea and just sitting at the tip of the front watching the dark blue sea and large waves fly by. Such a cool game. I just don’t understand how to play😂
Love to see new players joining this game, especially one who doesn't shy away from the PvP side of it! I started solo, too, and mainly do solo sloop. The learning curve is steep, but once you get a handle on this game's culture and mechanics it's irreplaceable.
The community is still toxic as fuck. Me and a friend were parked at an island playing music and launching a bunch of fireworks. Dudes pulled in front of us and sunk us. And now I dont wanna play anymore again lol
Gotta say, you got balls to start learning to play this game in High Seas, even PvP. I'm too scared to even leave the dock and I've been playing off and on since 2021. Horray for Safer Seas, the reason I came back.
Safer seas seems a bit boring for me. Yeah high seas can be stressful, but I guess only if you care much about losing progress/gold. If its all about the fun then all that stress fades.
Yeah just remind yourself that the gold in this game is actually meaningless past buying your ship. Then you find yourself playing for glory rather than gold, much less stressful.
robknight is pretty accurate but i would also add on top of that, the reason youve played off and on is because your doing the most boring content. 99.9% of what this game has to offer, is in player interaction, and by not participating in player interaction because you value gold over fun, you're really not even playing the game as the devs envisioned or planned for (hence why pve is so barebones and simple) and this has caused you and many players like you to certainly enjoy this game less than you could have
Ah, this reminds me of my first few months in this game, I've been sailing the SoT since season 6, and i kinda miss the wonder i felt those first adventures, that being said, i was lucky enough to have a friend be the one to get me involved and introduce to many people who were already pirate legends, which helped my start greatly
i had kinda sad start every one tell awesome stories of how they fought back and even though they lost they learned my first month i never saw another ship unless they were already shooting at my ship and i was on the island i sunk at least 5 times that month and every time i wasnt even on my ship and one time the random ship launched every single cursed cannon ball in the game at me i was literally stun locked on my deck when i tried to get to my cannons after climbing the ladder
First day playing yesterday. I stumbled upon a a GORGEOUS planetarium underneath an island tower, and I solved the puzzle…and was swarmed by dozens of skeletons. Somehow I won and found a ton of hidden gold and an orb worth TWENTYTHOUSAND. What a rush.
My genuine salute really man. A person who is totally new to game learning pretty well and fast to understand the key features of the game really the absolute best. You rock it bro and one more thing i wanna see you becoming better at this game
Instead of dropping anchor, raise your sails and you will come to a complete stop. This is handy for a speedy get away, your ship won't drift away if the sails are up. Change the direction of your sails so you can sail with the wind and the sloop is the fastest shit sailing directly into the wind. Also raising sails helps you turn faster and you can also use the harpoon to attach to rocks so you can turn
Yes and maybe. 100000% yes on Galley and Brigandine. Recommended but honestly doesnt-matters-much as sloop. Raising the anchor is preeeeeeeeeeetty fast in a sloop. Overall tho it IS a better idea to not anchor, or raise sails and raise anchor as soon as possible, just in case.
Dude I’ve tried to play sea of thieves online 3 times and each time I get paired up with bad faith players. Someone on my crew has ended up sabotaging me within the first 10 minutes
I started two weeks ago and only after 2 days of playing found out how sluggish and weird gunplay feels f.e not being able to shoot even tho your gun is out is due to some exploit that existed they tried to fix with a delay but this and the incredibly low fov make a otherwise so beautiful and fun game so unenjoyable for longer than 30 mins when the motionsickness starts kicking in and since i enjoy the pvp espacially solo sloop a lot it gets just unnecessarily frustrating. I really enjoyed the little adventure this video was tho
@@doxzly i understand that most people may consider it a "cheat" or "mod". but ive grown to accept that its something i need in order to play the game for more than 20 minutes. most people dont have motion sickness and even then most not nearly as bad as me its unbarrable after a short time playing and ill get EXTREMELY nauseous. so while its not something every player has its something that some players need in order to bare even playing the game. its a mistake on rares park honestly there not very considerate of peoples motion sickness hopefully they will just add more fov to te game soon but until then some 3rd party software will be needed in order for the game to be playable for some players. so try not to feel to bad about it if its something that takes your sickness away.
It was only after watching this video and thinking back to when I first started that I realise how far I have come now, 900 hours later (frankly thats not even that much time compared to some of the other players in this game). Experienced players in this game (at least those of us who are NOT obsessively screaming on twitter about how this is supposed to be a "PVP" game), have a certain level of respect for new players and try to give them positive first experiences. This is why. Your first 100 hours in this game will shape how you see it for the rest of your game time.
You talk like those paid actors from mobile game ads. “Oh wow what’s this? I don’t know what I’m doing but this seems fun. OHHH I HIT HIM! wait I don’t know what I’m doing! There take that! Ohhh I died :( this is pretty fun!”
the nice thing abou siren shrines is, that when your ship is in the purple circle, the water is calm. Like when you at a shipwreck or near isle and the storm wont have an effect to your ship :) just bit rainwater
I started playing last month and this game is so chill and adventurous, yet nervewracking sometimes. I found the PvE combat to be janky but then I saw PvP combat and the lunge jump and got hooked.
love to see new pvp enjoyers out there! the pve's alright, but i mostly use it to bait the pvp when i can't find a fight and don't feel like hourglass. good luck in your battles
That was a fun watch. as a longtime player, and it's good to see a new player learning the ropes and not complain about getting sunk. It is all part of the game, and it just would not be the same without the threat of other players. One little tip, though it is not as big a deal on a sloop, when you come to a stop, at an island, or over a shrine etc, it is ok to drop your anchor to stop, but lower the sails and raise the anchor. This way you can quickly set sail by dropping your sails. This can be a life saver when you spot other ships headed your way.
This video is so odd. At some point the guy uses tactics/ ways of playing that require some game knowledge, and 2 seconds later he doesnt know how to load a cannon. Several things like his pvp, quick scoping etc seem like he is faking to be new its so weird. He could be a quick learner with game sense but in other things thag does not seem to be the case. Feels off
Exactly! How does nobody realize what this is? Said the same thing to my partner. "He somehow immediately knew what a Reaper was" and "Quick scope with Eye of Reach"...this dude is trolling for views. Idk why he didn't make a video showing exactly what not to do on your first day. That would have been better.
I have never played this game before haha. But I've been playing variety games all my life, nothing about this game is difficult particularly. A lot easier than Rust, Tarkov or other things I have played. Though, I did watch videos and read stuff. Meaning if I didn't know what to do, I would just tab out and check the Sea of Thieves subreddit! For example after killing the Megalodon I didn't know if it would drop anything and was about to leave but searched it up instead; saw it does and waited. You guys just see the two points where its cut so that could lend to that feeling throughout the video
It's funny to get back to the times when I was panicing the same xd Little tips that will help a lot: 1. Do not anchor your ship. If they attack you it takes too long to pull up the anchor. Without it you just drop the sails and run or fight. Same in the fight never anchor. 2. When fighting put your sails halfway up to slowe down for better accuracy and maneuverability. 3. If you cannon fight, tilt your rudder little bit to the side you want to go, so you don't just go straight and have to adjust your ship every time in the fight. 4. When fighting, if you get on their deck just drop down their anchor. Pretty annoying to have anchor down midst the fight. 5. If someone follows you from behind, you can jump to the water, wait for them under the water and then catch their ladder, get up on the ship and drop the anchor to slow them down. One more tip actually: Have your cannons loaded up before sailing. Enjoy the game. It is beautiful game with lovely atmosphere. Sometimes just playing to chill and sail.
I didn’t watch the full video, so idk if you found this out, but the reason why your ship exploded before your first death was probably because you had a gunpowder barrel and it got struck by lightning. Generally, I wouldn’t recommend having gunpowder barrels on your ship at all, but if you do, make sure to put them in your crows nest 👍
such a good quality video was shocked to see the subs you deffo deserve more and will see your growth. I also am starting sea of thieves as I have just bought a xbox this week.
i love this. so wholesome. this game is an adventure. i've played a ton of games and this is my favorite by far. even if i dont get on as much these days this game will touch u and test. the pvp is such a vibe. hitting shot is so satisfying. and the community has its bad apples like any other but for the most part its full of amazing ppl. GGs !!!
It’s always so cool to watch people experience this game for the first time. I started playing in 2018, and the game has changed so much since then so it’s always cool to see a fresh perspective on a game that I love so much.
It seems like you never did any Quests for the Merchant Alliance, I think those are one of the most fun things to do as you have to protect your cargo from other pirates and take care of it while you sail from one point to another as a delivery guy (Plants, snakes, chickens and silk all have different needs and snakes can be used defensively). You can also try fishing as it offers a much needed change of pace and drives you to lonelier locations and you may find Tall Tales at bars which are story like missions that add to the immersion of the game.
I find the PVP makes the PvE more exciting, but I'm definitely not going out of my way to attack other players. For what it's worth, though, the PVP can be lucrative. Many players are generous, willing to give or share the plunder after a fun battle. If you're nice. If you're lucky. Diplomacy is the end-game in Sea of Thieves. It's fairly unique. Not since Rise of Kingdoms did I experience Diplomacy in a video game, like, actual diplomacy.
I just started in very late 2023 (roughly before christmas) and I kind of miss being new since all I did was relax all day in open crew learning new things in a chill enviroment (still need to learn loads). Would totally recommend this for any gamers who love survival games.
18:10 haha I been playing since beta, and that is how I still play as a solo slooper. Another sloop attacking is possibly 2 people. A lot of stuff added over the years and I only mastered the vanilla version. Masts falling down with chain shots, wasnt a thing early on and I just cheesed by people tanking damage and them not being able to turn around. So now its just as you said. If you want to bank some money, its about doing as much as you can without getting noticed. Throwables, harpoons, cursed cannonballs and such mess me up hard. Mast getting put down is my big thing i cant get good over, other than being hyper vigilant and trying not to get caught. So i think of myself as a merchant or treasure hunter on the sea of thieves. It is a rush to try escaping with some treasure. Good video as how I said im a vanilla player strugging with all kinds of new stuff, I feel new.
This narration and editing is brilliantly authentic. I could feel all your anxiety and excitement. Felt like i was playing but i probably would of quit waaaay earlier 😂 . Great job
I always wanted to Play Sea of Thieves but never tried because i though solo is ultra hard mode. Then i played it last year for 150 Hours and it was everything i wanted. It is really fun and the Story mission with Jack sparrow and such a reall well made. Everything is doable as a solo player and with the new PvE mode and fast travel it is now better then ever
8:15 those people are merchant emissaries, merchants usually stay neutral as long as you don't attack them they just sail by and don't want trouble that will delay their trade routes.
This was really fun thanks, the fact that gold in SoT is almost only for cosmetic is a good thing I thing, the fact that you cannot "upgrade" your gears with it put everyone at the same place, the only power difference between two players is personal skill, which is great, still you can also use gold to buy better missions, emissary flags and early resources, so it's cool. Also little beginner tips : most of the community say that explosive kegs on your ship is a mistake, which is not false, with a bit of bad luck your ship can get nuked, unless you put it on the mast, in this case only your mast will get nuked, but they are really useful when you get chased, you can try to board the enemy with it, almost 100% guaranteed win but it's risky, or you can drop it in the water and try to snipe it when it near the enemy vessel, in anyway it's not worth it if you get in a active fight or if you sure you'll get in they're line of fire for a long enough time, sup!
When fighting a skeleton ship, if all else fails, ran into it. Jump on board and let your partner fix your ship. You go downstairs and you guard the holes on the skeleton ship until it's underwater
looks like the first guy on your team is kinda new too based on how he sold that stuff, using the rowboat to get to the sovereign and also not using the harpoons to pull the loot on for skeleton ships you have to constantly hit them with cannons or they will repair, if you do it right they sink pretty quickly, fastest i've sunken one was like 30 seconds, skeleton ships have like infinite crew members and for the skelly galleons it's helpful to have someone on their ship killing any skeletons on repair over all you did pretty good and the video was entertaining
small but sometimes lifesaving fact if you are on an island or on the mermaid shrine pull the anchor up so you only need to lower the sails and can escape faster
I wish I could re-experience this game as a new player with everything that is in it currently. The older version of the game is home for me, I started playing in 2020. Just the basics of the game is what I miss the most, not the new tall tales, the shrines, and all that. Just the random events, you, the seas, and possibly someone stalking you as you loot a vault.
Another day one player here. So funny to watch you come in with all the hundreds of new content things that came out since then. I feel your pain but with work and some great partners you can learn the way
I loved watching this, it reminds me of my first few weeks playing. I started playing in season 7 and have about 1,000 hours invested as of now. I still love it very much but if I could go back to your position and do it all over again I would. Welcome to the pirate life! Maybe one day our paths will cross on the sea.
Haven't been on this game for quite a while, but it's nice seeing newcomers enter this game. Great video as well, that symbolise the concept of learning on a new thing
Really interesting to see the game from a new players perspective. I’ve been playing since the alpha test sessions and it’s great seeing the genuine excitement in your voice for SoT rather than quiet vets that know everything already
I wish I could play SoT for the first time again. I've been playing it since release, but I really love these "first time" videos especially all the updates later. Nice video.
Great video and storytelling. I enjoyed watching the whole video. It's fun to see what kind of things attract new players, where their attention is drawn to.
love seeing actual new players play a game and showing some progress , i hate the vods other ppl put out when they say they start from nothing to being the best in the game or whatever but have thousands of hours in the game , good job at making this enjoyable to watch thank you dittoz
I’ve been playing sea of thieves for a long time, I still have the first anniversary sword that has been my main use for a while. After taking some breaks, I came back recently and man, it’s a lot different than I remember…but in a good way. New players are definitely going to go through hell trying to get into it but I highly suggest it, especially if you have friends to play it with!
I’ve been playing SOT on and off for a few years now, And it’s always nice to see new players joining. I would by no means call myself an expert as I constantly get my ass handed to me on a silver platter whenever someone boards in pvp, But at the very least, I’m competent enough to say a few things. Listen to your ship, and she’ll tell you what you need to know. Memorize the audio cues like the bell ringing in a storm or the creaking of your ship, and it’ll save your ass when you need to bail or when you’re within striking distance of lightning. Never let your guard down. It’s a pirate game and everybody’s out for loot. Keep weather, I on the horizon, never trust another pirate more than you need to. When you need to stop, raise sails instead of dropping anchor. If you do, raise anchor immediately, otherwise you’re a sitting duck and easy pickings Since it’ll take longer for you to raise it and get moving Most people keep kegs up in the crows nest if they have them. You can blow them up with a well-placed shot and cripple their mast. If you yourself have you kegs in your nest, be aware of them, and make sure you don’t go into a storm with them, lightning will strike them, as well as you if you have your sort out. Open crew is good for meeting people, but once you find a reliable bunch, it’s best to try and stick with them when you can as open crew is always a mixed bag and there are absolutely people who will just troll you for the fuck of it. When shooting cannons, Make sure to pay attention to if your ship is turning and the speed it’s going, and make sure to take that into consideration when you came. And unless that ship is a sitting duck, and where they’re going to be not where they are. If you sail Northwest, constantly keep checking your direction. the tide will push you off course, so don’t just ditch the helm and expect to keep going straight. Don’t be too afraid to take risks, They might just pay off. You might also lose everything, but so it is on the sea of thieves. If a player looks like a ghost, or a skeleton with shorts on Or golden bones, do not fight them. Those are cosmetics you get by being extremely good at PVP. You’re not going to beat them as a Swabby/noob. Edit: the guy at 5:55 Is not the correct type of skeleton though, he’s just wearing a costume you can buy. Don’t be fooled. Lastly, it’s not truly your loot till you sell it, Another reason not to let your guard down. noob
Dittoz! You should make a video on the new massive update that dropped yesterday. A huge focus of it is streamlining the beginner experience and had you just started a couple of weeks later you probably would have had a much easier time starting out, although you did a great job!!! Sea of Thieves is in a interesting place right now and the potential for growth is huge, so please highlight in future videos (if there are more SoT related ones) that this game has become much more noob friendly. Thank you!
as someone that first played this game in 2020 it is really entertaining to watch you play

Looks like the crew around the 19:00 mark repaired your ship but left it to burn to mess with you. They probably recognised you as a new player and took a degree of mercy on you.
oh... and I was proud thinking I defended myself. That's funny
@@Dittozz this galleon could have fucked you up in seconds
It looked like they were trying to spawn trap him tbh, he just killed them first
That galleon was pathetic. Picking on newbies like that.
@@alexanderbenkendorf688yeah just got back playing only got 50k gold sooooo
It’s a real good tip that when you drop anchor, also raise your sails and then raise anchor. The ship won’t move and then when you are done with your island, you can just drop sails and leave much faster.
Also learning to let the ship break by itself rather than dropping anchor is also good.
Just raising sail a good bit before getting to your destination is good enough, but if it's a sudden stop then this is the best thing to do. Always remember, an anchored ship is a sitting duck in High Seas.
4:50 If I had to guess, lightning hit your ship which blew up the gunpowder keg.
100% it did. When he picked up the keg with the hook I was like HNNNGGG!... Lucky he didnt do it in the wrong angle...but prolly shouldnt.....yep...there it is. Heard the lighting, saw the boom.
Or the storm usually riding with a sloop in a thunderstorm isn’t the best idea
Which is why i usually stash powder kegs in the crows nest. Much less collateral damage if they get set off by lightning or other players
Day 1 player here, and videos like these are my favorite. Love seeing new players hop on and scratch the surface of what this game has to offer
I started the game in 2019 just before fishing and tall tales I haven’t played the last two years and I’m really excited to come back after not playing after fotd
Sail with your lanterns off, just a heads up
Is that the surface? What's deeper.
I've played like for 10 hours or so and didnt experience most of what he did, was just doing missions and hauling stuff - which killed the interest for me completely, as a solo player.
Any tips

"Or you can trick them into raising hourglass and get a free win. Or you can take them on an adventure and hold their ship hostage. Or you can tdm them for fun. Or give them some loot to be nice. Or-"

Ya, always let the swabbies get familiar with the game.
You have so much adventure ahead of you :D
My biggest advice I'd give to new players is that *this game seems like it incentivizes you to grind; **don't.*** You will suck the fun right out of it.
But luckily i still meet some cool people on the seas and that is what drives me to come back
There is no ship vs ship conbat?
i love watching new players figuring things out.

Hey ! loved the video. i've been playing sea of thieves for a while now so here's a tip : you know how some times there are skulls or ship clouds in the sky ? well that's world events and they are really fun to do. since everybody in the map sees it, you may encounter other players and have to fight for the loot. oh and to become a pirate legend, you have to be lvl 50 not 75.
Do you still play?

@@funkndeep too many times… I still sort of think it’s a ship today if I’m not thinking straight.
Keep at it!
As someone who has ... wayyy to much time in this game I always love seeing the new player perspective! Awesome video!
i don't know if you're reading this, just want to give ypu a few tips
3:42, 18:24 It's really hard to use cannons with your sails dropped all the way down.
This will be all of us ps5 players soon 😂

I do have a few tips to improve it tho
1: raise sails instead of anchoring for a faster escape
2: cannons will always land in the middle of the screen, unless you’re turning
3: raise sails halfway for sloop pvp, you’ll hit more cannon shots
4: try to get an emissary license ASAP, you make much more gold that way
as a new player, I just suffer being alone and running from people (tbh only 1 of them could get me, bc I was in island) and I am grinding like hours alone
There's only two kinds of merchant emissary they're either incredibly bloodthirsty and kill anything that moves or they avoid all conflict
The “real enemy” crew listening to you say you don’t know what your doing while they kill you and turn your ship into a torch:
Shame you couldn't experience back in 019 it was so different back then,so simply fun
i had kinda sad start every one tell awesome stories of how they fought back and even though they lost they learned my first month i never saw another ship unless they were already shooting at my ship and i was on the island i sunk at least 5 times that month and every time i wasnt even on my ship and one time the random ship launched every single cursed cannon ball in the game at me i was literally stun locked on my deck when i tried to get to my cannons after climbing the ladder
Solo-sailing is my favorite way to play... it's the best way to get better. But man... it's an experience.
Overall tho it IS a better idea to not anchor, or raise sails and raise anchor as soon as possible, just in case.

i havent even played this game but damn man the narration was soo good that the video finished without me realizing it.
I really enjoyed the little adventure this video was tho
have you tried 120 fov?? i suffer from motion sickness very bad as well but getting an account thats 120 fov and above could really help you
@@MenaceSot yea i tried the ce method and it helps a lot but i dont want to cheat so i can play the game without having to throw up
@@doxzly i understand that most people may consider it a "cheat" or "mod". but ive grown to accept that its something i need in order to play the game for more than 20 minutes. most people dont have motion sickness and even then most not nearly as bad as me its unbarrable after a short time playing and ill get EXTREMELY nauseous. so while its not something every player has its something that some players need in order to bare even playing the game. its a mistake on rares park honestly there not very considerate of peoples motion sickness hopefully they will just add more fov to te game soon but until then some 3rd party software will be needed in order for the game to be playable for some players. so try not to feel to bad about it if its something that takes your sickness away.
Sidenote, I would love to encounter you on the seas at some point. We love to see new players in this game!

the nice thing abou siren shrines is, that when your ship is in the purple circle, the water is calm.

One day i will play for sure (probably 5 years)

Several things like his pvp, quick scoping etc seem like he is faking to be new its so weird. He could be a quick learner with game sense but in other things thag does not seem to be the case.
Ahahah swabbie

Little tips that will help a lot:
Your pvp doesn't look like a new player.

I just bought the game while watching this. Can't wait to figure out!
Lol this is mad fake
I didn’t watch the full video, so idk if you found this out, but the reason why your ship exploded before your first death was probably because you had a gunpowder barrel and it got struck by lightning. Generally, I wouldn’t recommend having gunpowder barrels on your ship at all, but if you do, make sure to put them in your crows nest 👍

Survival game? Type as well? And can you build a base
2v1 with skilled SoT players is almost a guarantee scuttled ship. Some really good players on here.
You have the right attitude to PvP in SoT. The game isn't for me anymore, but a person who enjoys the PvP can have a blast in SoT.
You go downstairs and you guard the holes on the skeleton ship until it's underwater
looks like the first guy on your team is kinda new too based on how he sold that stuff, using the rowboat to get to the sovereign and also not using the harpoons to pull the loot on
for skeleton ships you have to constantly hit them with cannons or they will repair, if you do it right they sink pretty quickly, fastest i've sunken one was like 30 seconds, skeleton ships have like infinite crew members and for the skelly galleons it's helpful to have someone on their ship killing any skeletons on repair
over all you did pretty good and the video was entertaining
It would be cool if you could get a skelly npc on your ship to help repair. Maybe on per life and if he dies he dies
When you get a chance you should play the story mode, there are even pirates of the Caribbean and monkey island quests
This is precious. It's why I prefer playing the game with my kid now because the magic is still real for him.
small but sometimes lifesaving fact if you are on an island or on the mermaid shrine pull the anchor up so you only need to lower the sails and can escape faster
Me too but I don't miss sinking to every ship I encountered
I'm smiling so much seeing a new player having a blast with all this stuff.
If you do, raise anchor immediately, otherwise you’re a sitting duck and easy pickings Since it’ll take longer for you to raise it and get moving
Most people keep kegs up in the crows nest if they have them.
Lastly, it’s not truly your loot till you sell it, Another reason not to let your guard down. noob
as a day 1 player my biggest tips are dont trust pirates..and beware of tuckering giga chads..
I first started playing this game in late 2018. It is super fun to watch new players play the game for the first time.
Usually for me, it was chill but until I go against someone else it’s usually a sloop and they run away from so I’ll battle them for a hour or 2 😅
All my day consists of when I’m on this game is this cuz these kids can’t just play the game
Thank you!
