  • Some drivers of a new Mercedes-Benz S-Class or EQS will be able to take advantage of Mercedes-Benz's latest self-driving mode it's calling "Drive Pilot." But as CNN's Peter Valdes-Dapena reports, the technology has a number of limitations. #CNN #News #mercedes #automobile #car

Teslas self driving is more impressive because it's a general purpose system. Yes it's considered level 2, but from what I've heard, that's more of a result of liability issues. Teslas latest version of FSD 12.3.4 (supervised) isn't perfect, but it's incredibly impressive and very capable. The problem with Mercedes system is that these highways are pre-mapped. It's not a general purpose system and in my opinion won't be sustainable in the long term.

So let’s be clear here, this is not autonomous driving, this is a joke, as Tesla cars can drive anywhere, and at highway speeds today, not tomorrow, but today, and the only reason they will not tell you, you can take your hands off of the wheel is, because of government regulations, and the fact that there is a tremendous amount of risk involved in doing that, particularly since the regulations have not changed.
So not just Tesla, but all cars in this category that are equipped with some type driver assistance (ADAS) systems, will have to demonstrate a level of confidence that the vehicles are safer than the average driver, and in the case of Tesla, and others who are pursuing self driving/autonomous driving cars, that level is elevated to a higher level of confidence in order to convince regulators to change the law.
So we all know that the current regulations requires that you have a licensed driver at the wheel at all times while the vehicle is driving on public highways/streets/roads, and so it would be the height of insanity for a car company to tell folks that they can drive hands-free, which is what GM did, knowing full well that most people who can afford that level of driver assistance would never just simply not maintain control of their vehicles, they just wouldn’t do it, and not only that, think about the restrictions both GM and Mercedes put on the drivers by telling them that these cars can only be driven that way on certain mapped or Geo-fenced highways.
So what happens if you get into the neighborhood? These systems are effectively shut down, locked out, blocked out, and you can’t even activate them.
So is GM taking a risk? You damn right they are, and so I don’t see any reason Tesla should take such a risk, particularly since the regulations are clear, that you must have a licensed driver who is ultimate responsible for what the car is doing, and no matter under what conditions it’s driving in. Capeesh! Cheers 🥂

When you get your new electric vehicle, make sure that you don't use the heater in the winter. I remember a few years ago when hundreds of cars were stranded on the interstate in a blizzard . Imagine all those frozen bodies when the plows finally get through. And enjoy your new electric pick up truck. Just don't try and haul anything except maybe a bicycle. Be sure you don't try and charge your vehicle when the authorities say not to. As our grid capacity is reduced, rationed electricity and brown outs will become common place. We can be just like the third world. Then again , the left want to develop their 15 minute cities. We can be just like China. The slaves only have to take the elevator to the ground floor to put in a hard days work. I have an even better idea. Lets elect fewer lawyers and more engineers. If we can survive another year of this incompetent administration, maybe we should try it.

We can have autonomous, completely safe vehicles, but we never will. The free enterprise, capitalist system cannot get there from here. Humans will have to change and adapt to the transportation system, which they won't do until they have to. The government needs to set uniform standards for systems and support 'smart roads' that engage in two-way communication with the vehicles that travel on them, and there needs to be one computer system controlling all vehicles in proximity of each other. People will need to give up on owning vehicles and instead rely on calling for an appropriate vehicle to meet their needs as the needs arise. Most roads will need to be closed to foot travel, and roads where pedestrians and vehicles can meet must be restricted to slow speeds. It can work, but it never will!

OMG, you had to bring up that you can't put the seat back or move your piston in the seat to look in the back? Why would you even suggest that it should even be an option? How old are you? 12? You should not be test driving cars.
As if that's a bad thing to have in the car".. 😳 ooh I can't put the seat back boo woo Jesus what are 12 years old? 🤦.

Эти несколько марок автомобилей, привезены из Германии, это не американские марки. Где сейчас все марки лимузинов 1970х годов? Спросите у Байдена и Трампа.

Jesus said "So it will be at the end of the age, the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous, and will throw them into the furnace of fire, in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 13:49-50. Jesus also said "You are my friends if you do what I command you." John 15:14. Jesus taught that the only way to be saved is to choose him as your Lord and Master, repent and believe that he died for the sins of his people on the cross see John 14:6.

May you read a real (science) book! The bible didn't give you Internet or Glas fibre connection, nor WiFi or 4G/5G nor it didn't give you your cell phone, or not even light bulbs and electric current to run all this... No it was science, the scientists and engineering processes behind all of it!

@13bgunbunny46 even non Christian historians admit that the new testament is by far the best attested work of Antiquity out of all the documents of the ancient world moron. Only reason people reject Jesus is cause they love their sin and wanna suppress the truth Romans 1 Ĝods word says that but it also says you won't have an excuse on judgment day. Fool.
