Larry1980s, TCL is garbage. Yes it has those issues. That is if you are actually able to keep one working. I bought a new 55" TCL. 6 months later it had no picture. The replacement TV had no picture within 9 months of replacing. TCL REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. GARBAGE. now I'm stuck with a 55" coat rack. Garbage product my friend, don't waste your money on this crap.
I have the newest TCL 55R617. I also have a 4 year old TCL 48FS4610R 48-Inch 1080p . The 4 year old tv seems to do way better with motion blur than the new TCL 55R617 when watching the World Cup on the Fox Sports app. I've already returned one unit and the second unit does the same thing. Any suggestions or tips before I decide to return the 2nd unit?
tHa_vilLaMaN I've tried several things. But currently have it on Picture Mode Sports, LED Motion Clarity On, Action Smoothing High...I am now noticing some Artifacts around the soccer player's image sometimes when there is fast motion...I don't know but a bit frustrating.
I’m not sure. I know some Caribbean islands have no problem accessing Netflix etc. so if you can access those regularly the TV apps would most likely work
You mentioned that this TV has Dolby Vision, but does it also have Dolby Atmos Audio. In other video's by tech's they mention audio system is Not great. What do you think?
I’ve been using it and the internal speakers really aren’t that great at all. They sound tinny and distort at modest volume. External sound is almost a necessity
I doubt that any TV can output Dolby Atmos. You would need to get a sound system that is capable of outputting Dolby Atmos or DTS-X for that kind of sound.
Hello everyone. The review is very interesting, so thanks. I am seriously thinking about buying it but I live in Australia and this particular model is not sold here. And honestly the models that are sold here don't look like this one. This is the reason why I'm look for buying it on Amazon.com because is the only place where I could find it. Now I just so in your review that I might have a problem. When you turned it on it only gave you the options among USA Canada and Europe. Does this mean that is not meant for Australian tv frequencies and channels? Thanks
This is the worse thing about TCL, trying to get full, clear, and accurate information on the tv's and their counterparts in different markets is a nightmare. Nobody really knows anything! I can't do proper comparisons to the US models which get more youtube converage. I'm very very interested to but a TCL, but still wary about exactly what i'm getting. Did you pick one up eventually?
I don’t think owning Apple devices makes it better per se. Unless you like thing like AirPlay mirroring. The picture/sound quality is much more important to me and that’s why I got it
We have Appletv connected to this tv and on this tv when you power up Appletv it does not switch from the TV antenna, Roku, Amazon prime to the Appletv. This is not a big deal still it is worth mentioning. The other odd thing that is no big deal, still is unusual. When your watch tv on the antenna for local channels and networks. You can not jump from channel 2 to channel 12. You have to travel from 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 it will skip empty channels to 6.1, 6.2 to 8.1, 8.2, 8.3 to 12.1. This is odd but we are not done yet. The tv monitors the channels you watch and develops the most watched tv channels. In favorite mode if you watch 2.3 and 12.2 and 32.1 most often switch in this order skipping the 6.1, 6.2 and all the channels between favorite channels. Once you get use to it is odd but works. Now let me tell you about our experience with this tv and what people mention about the darkness in the corners. I see it in the images they point it out in. I don’t see it on my tv on those menus, I wonder if these dark areas are more artifact from a picture of a monitor being displayed on another monitor. I will say I spent 30 mins 4 or 5 times watching the corners of our tv. From time to time when the tv displays some kind of warm peach like color there is a bit of darkness in the corner about 1.5 inches from the edge in. My wife and I stood in he store with the 65 inch side by side with 3 other 60 to 65 inch TVs and just never saw any issue in a well light show room and the TVs just in an automatic color correction. The dark that shows in the reviews pictures is not our experience with our tv. We have a 65 inch Samsung that is 2 years old in our living room and I have to say the CTL is everybit as good as the Samsung.
@@ThaVillaMan Thank you. I'm trying to see what the 6 series looks like on various sized entertainment centers. I think 50 inches is the bare minimum (48.5 inches wide I believe) unless the feet are sticking inwards. Does a large 60ish inch EC make the 55 inch tv look small?
@@ThaVillaMan Alrighty, I need a new stand, as my current one is like 20 inches wide (holding a 46 inch 1080p tv with a smallish footprint of a base). Many TVs today have super wide feet (6 series, which is on its way), so I want to get a proper sized entertainment center that is big enough but not too big. I think 50-53 inches should be a sweet spot.

Hi i want to know when watching normal hd content like tv shows and movies , does dolby vision make any difference . I'm not too sure about this so thought to ask you . Thanks for the review . 😀
Thanks for watching! Dolby Vision isn’t a factor in normal HD content. It’s an HDR signal that the TV receives from a 4K source like a streaming player (Roku, Apple TV, etc), built in app or Blu ray player. It then switches to that picture mode when it gets the signal. So when watching normal HD content, it wouldn’t make any difference at all. With apps like Netflix though, which has more and more content in Dolby Vision, it would make a difference. Hope that answers your question!
Ok so here I my thoughts on the Tcl 55in 6 series. For the price 800 tx in its great have nothing bad to say as its a very nice second tv to have. Where I start hating the thing is connecting it to an Avr and using ARC to be able to use the built in Roku things get nasty. The sound in the roku apps is complete garbage say I listen to netflix on the xbox at -16db shit is loud AF but on the Roku netflix app you barely get any sound out of it and its the same on every app roku has. I've searched online for 2hrs and loads of people having the same issues. Even the sticks or stand alone roku boxes are doing this same thing. So in concluding if your buying the tv for doing nothing but tv stuff its great but do not I say do not use the roku app. I for one don't care that much as it is a spare tv but when your going into it for the extra stuff they offer and its one of the main selling points well I would say use something else or use the cash you saved for an apple tv or whatever floats your boat for streaming. That's my review ;) Finalà Final thoughts I ended up taking the TV back because made no sense keeping it the main selling point of this tv is it's supposed to be the best Roku TV on earth and when you google " TCL Roku low volume" there are hundreds and hundreds of people having this same issues and I found stuff dating back to 2016 so either TCL or Ruko are not doing there jobs. Since this was not my main TV and a spare bedroom TV I still opted to take it back and ended up getting a very nice deal on a Q7FN 55" for 1250$ Canadian out the door and let me tell you what an upgrade from the TCL. Like I said if your lucky enough to get a good working TCL the price is great for all you get but they do have many problems either the screens the firmware or Roku for me the headache was not worth it at all. besides in this price range Hisense makes a similar tv without issues. So many you tubers make an unboxing turn on TV type review and never really go into AVR set ups or long term use thus missing all the defects resulting in many people returning the TVs because they don't work half the time and reviewers don't spend enough time or don't set them up like 80% will.
