@@cornflakes7664 Funny, I'm here because my Samsung tv broke down. I payed above 800$ for that 55" tv. (black screen of death) IMO any of these tv's at this price range works fine, it's once you decide to go for qled, oled etc. that you really stepping it up.
I've been waiting for big TH-camrs to cover this kind of things. Most of the time they're showing expensive or cool stuff ( which I don't mind, in fact I really enjoy them!) but for an average consumer this is the kind of stuff I would love to see TH-camrs talk about. Things that everyone is buying and why are they buying it so that the average buyer can get some feedback from their favorite TH-camrs. I know some of the stuff they talk about ARE like this but most of the time it's not so it's cool to see them talk about this.
Hi there. Although no expert, I have some knowledge of audio production and also have a 55 C6US with the harman/kardon sound bar built in. The sound from it is far superior to any typical built-in TV speakers. The top end is clear and crisp and the mids are defined nicely. There is a noticeable quality to the sound although it is hard for any non-subwoofer equipped sound bar to fill in the bottom end. That's not to say there is no bass present, it is actually pretty good considering the delivery system. Speaking of the delivery system, the bar does well to spread surround effects about you. Movie-watching just got good again!! There are sound mode settings and I found a nice boost available from switching to music mode for some Zappa Plays Zappa :) There are more modes available including a 'personal' custom mode but no EQ that I could find. As the TV is in my room (hehe... 55" 4K monitor anyone?) I don't use a high volume level but have tested it and found it not wanting in that department. Clarity was not lost at mid-level (that was plenty loud enough!) I couldn't vouch for it at closer to full volume tho not having been there with it. If you're sitting on the fence about buying a TCL - if it has an h/k sound bar, Wide-Color-Gamut and HDR, I'm confident you will not be disappointed! :)
I've had my TCL for 3 years. I've loved it, especially for the price. I may be a broke college student but I have the best non inherited TV out of all of us!
I have one that's 7 years old now and still has no dead pixels. The speakers are weak and it's got fat bezels and a thick screen, but it looks and works great. I got a new TV a couple years ago and turned the TCL into my computer monitor with no issues.
The only problem I have is the speakers could be better (but are damn good plus I have a separate system) and I lost the remote and occasionally the volume button (which is completely separate) will function as an input which is only slightly annoying since input is one way so I have to do a full cycle to get back to what I want. That's my ONLY complaint of a $150 40' flat screen from like 2014 🤷🏾♀️❤️
For those wondering, this year they refreshed these TVs with the S425 models. They have the same panel but different casings and they are even better value. I got the 50 inch model (50S425) for 250 on Black Friday.
I was just about to ask about the response time! Why tf wouldn't Linus mention this?! Response time and input lag are one in the same, right? The 2018 version seems like it would be an excellent PC monitor. I mean why not? I've got a 65 inch Sony XBR850D which I purchased Feb 2017 for like $1500. I seriously doubt my Sony is $1000 better than this TV.
Using as Hisense-h65m7000 myself was using an older 46in from 2008... going big is great and when you go to other people places and have to use there tiny 21 to ultra wides.. it gets annoying.
Best value for a TV ever. Got it on best buy black Friday sale for 280. TCL fan for life now. I'm likely going to buy the new 65 inch model this black Friday and move the "small" one to the bedroom.
Never buying another. Got 3 clear evenly spaced lines guessing where the foam braces where at high stress points. Still good unless your watching the hateful 8, or anything snowy.
I’ve been rocking a TCL for almost a year now. It’s an amazing first TV for the price. When I bought it, I got a pretty decent Samsung soundbar with a wireless subwoofer. t’s an amazing bedroom setup for under $500 (that includes the soundbar) I was super glad when I stumbled upon this video when I was TV shopping and I recommend it to anyone who wants a decent TV but doesn’t want to pay a premium
I purchased a 65 inch for my living room around Christmas last year, and was so surprised by its quality that I purchased a 55 for my bedroom. Love them both. my 55 has a crisper picture but both are extremely comparable.
You a Turd When will you realize the fact that your comments get no attention is because they're never relevant to the video? Just because someone else gets more attention doesn't mean they achieve it through alternative means. My comments are regular, like everyone else's.
You obviously do use a "Like Bot" your boring comments are up the top on plenty of random videos, not to mention just about every LTT video. Maybe if you had good content you wouldn't need to phish in other peoples comments for attention.
I also have been using TV for my gaming PC. There should be some input lag, but I don't perceived them. 43" for racing games and PUBG is more than enough than buying PC monitor 27" for the same price
Well I hope you got a reliable unit then. Would be interesting to see if it's cheap enough to cover the long run cost of it potentially failing earlier. I've got a 720p Sony Bravia that has been going strong for 8 years, but you don't get all the modern stuff, so this TCL thing looks like a decent shortcut to enjoy the 4K bandwagon.
Gian N dude.. cheap price doesn't mean poor quality.. they're just being aggressive on the pricing because not many people know and trust their brand yet.. and not every item that cost a kidney means very good quality.. sometimes you can jack up the price of your product beyond its value because people will still buy them thinking "well this is a well known brand".. this is all just business..
So does this take fully advantage of what the series X has to offer or do I miss out on portions of the 4k 60/120fps? I’m not too smart about tv’s haha
Cartney84 Ian note sure as my kids sleep very well specially the older one my home system run good as he'll I even don't know how is speaker from my TV works as I never use that rubish
Cartney84 Ian I know right? I'd rather the manufacturer put the shittiest speakers on the TV and spend their resources giving me a higher quality TV. I'll buy a great sound bar myself.
I bought one of these from Costco over 3 months ago fully expecting to find some bug, flaw or annoyance that would cause me to take it back within the 90 day return window. That never happened. It's been absolutely perfect, I still can't believe how much value I got for the money. It's incredible.
SLY GXP I even have a solution for that haha. Roku has an app you can use form your smartphone that allows you to use it as a remote. And if you are having any screen uniformity issues, like if the blacks are crushing you can change the gamma in the app. My unit had slight backlight bleed at the bottom and a little at the top, so I set gamma to 2.0, brightness to 43-45, and the brightness to brighter and I couldn’t be any happier haha
I had a TCL AC. First summer it was good then its second summer it needed tons of repair and parts change every 1 month and after sales service was worst.
Aman Biwalkar the smart tv at my place has faulty speakers that would basically turn all sound into inaudible bass screech, if that made any sense to you. It also has the slowest and laggiest start up I’ve seen.
Yeah mine went out too. Have mine for a little over a year, backilght... Seems that some of the led’s stopped working.. Besides that a great tv for that $, but would expect it to last longer lol
This TV is actually great but only if you don't care about HDR. It only reaches 250 nits, doesn't have Dolby vision, and doesn't have local dimming. The HDR experience is very poor. For decent HDR, you should go up to the TCL P series.
Yea, I dont know why he's not talking about the P series. Those are the ones that are getting a ton of buzz right now for being giant killers at an affordable price. Also finally coming to the UK in June!
They're really not though. While not all their units are hits, and they certainly aren't perfect by any means, if you want a budget TV with great value then there currently is no better option than TCL. Vizio comes close, but TCL's overall value is unmatched. So sure if you are willing to spend 1K+ on a TV than there are much better options than the TCL (grab yourself a Sony XBR or even an LG C7). But I would say that unless you can get your hands on a Vizio P series (good luck) then TCL is the best sub 1k TV you can buy.
"No TV we've ever tested offers this much picture for this little cash, and its Roku TV operating system is our hands-down favorite. We can't declare it the value champion until we test a few more sets, but for now it rules the roost." - CNET
Got the 65" at Walmart for only $275 on Black Friday, I was skeptical because of the price but I figured it's still a great deal regardless. And it turns out that it's actually not a bad tv at all! Everything he said in the video is 100% accurate
I bought a 32" TCL for my bedroom 4 or 5 years ago -- it was cheap as hell (less than $150) -- and has a built-in Roku 2 box, so I can stream directly to it.
I'm sorry -- I was unclear. I meant the TV has the Roku software built-in, so you can use Netflix, Amazon Prime, Vudu, etc., without needing a separate box for streaming. It's all built in. You could connect a PC to it via one of the HDMI inputs, I suppose, if you wanted to. But there's no way to stream your PC's video signal wirelessly to it.
if you want to play more video formats with your windows media player, simply download the vlc player for free. it has all the codecs you could ever want. just google it.
If looking for VHS players go to an auction near you. go to auctionzip.com and put in zipcode and calendar comes up with auctions near you and what date. You can usually get 1-3 of them for $1-5 total and some with remotes. If not remote Wallyworld sells them for under $10. If it goes bad look for another one. At $1-2 apiece you will eventually find one that might last as long as that tv has.
Best TV in the market , value wise and technologically. Roku is major plus as you can stream all of your cable provider's programming without the need of a converter box, saving you 10 to 12 dollars per room, in time the tv will pay itself off. Presently all the TVs in my apartment are TCL and I have no complaints. High end Tv's do not deliver all their bells ad whistles as network's transmitters in the us are 10 year behind the present tv technology. So save some money and buy TCL. You wont regret it!
I work at a US retailer selling Samsung , LG, Vizio, TCL, and a few other brands. There are around 10 live displays per brand and, in the last year, five TCLs died, while no LG, one Samsung, and one Vizio died. I had previously thought TCL was a decent brand, but after five TVs died in around 2 months, I'm not so sure anymore.
TCL TVs actually last a very long time. We use them in the workplace as monitors for the security cameras, the TV's are on 24/7, 365 days a year, no signs of dying yet.
Hey got a 65 inch TCL 4k t.v. last year with roku built in it.. awesome t.v. got a ps4 pro connected to it and the video is great.. if your in the market and don't wanna spend 3 to 5 grand on a 4k smart t.v. TCL is the way to go right now... save some $$$
$700-$5000 at walmart or anywhere for branded 4k TV's like samsung. TCL is $320 and $50-$100 for some surround speakers. also lots of people have ps4 pro and xbox one X so they need a cheap living room 4k TV, and the only people that can afford branded 4k tv's are upper class people or you have to be wealthy to blow that much money on just a TV.
Brands don't mean anything look at Apple or beats. Apple you pay triple for the same specs as a cheaper windows device. Beats are literally cheap headphones with paperweights to make them feel like there is substantial tech when really it's garbage
Who's paying $3-5 Gs for TVs? OLEDs are cheaper. You can get an awesome 65 for $850-1100.. $1100 is more for design than pic quality. You can get LG AI thin q for $820 at walmart. I said 850, because DOUCHEBAGs can't even include magic remote. Think it's like 40 bucks separately. I say LG or Samsung, because clearly best tvs on markets according to sales, not necessarily *best* tv.. but I tend to agree, but I think Panasonic, sony are great too, TCL isn't bad at all. Hinense? Wasn't impressed.
I bought a TCL 43s517. To note the frame on the top and sides are metal. Now as for the 60 hz refresh rate I replaced my monitor with was 60 hz. i am using it as a PC monitor and I must say wow, totally worth the money. Would I say it's better than a $800 dollar Sony probably not, but I am not a T.V. expert so for me it's a great bang for the buck.
Please, definitely do a cheap soundbar review. Maybe even a roundup of different options. Not all of us have a full stereo/surround system for audio, and voice channel balance is always crap on TV speakers.
Got my55 4k from Walmart few yrs ago 450.00 after tax and warranty plan, it's still working great. I'm wanting a qled 65" next just waiting for price to come down .
TCL tvs are the most reliable ones too. I have a 55" 1080p LCD TV that's still working perfectly fine as it did in 2008 when I bought it. No backlight bleeding nor dead pixels whatsoever. Other than the huge ass bezels (it's a 10 years old TV), the image quality is amazing, and the speakers sound really awesome, probably due to the fact that they werent trying to make it thin and light and charging you more $$$ for a sound bar like they do today.
JulianSauco you can get any cheap TV it will just serve as a glorified monitor all of the cheap ones are the same no real one 20 most of them don't have HDR feature I bought a tcl and it said all this isht and it didn't work no 120 no HDR your TV doesn't support this feature RGB only buyer beware.
JulianSauco I've had my TCL since 2014, it does amazing, the only problem is that it has a high pitch squealing while its turned on. But it's only noticeable if a video is paused or something like that. When I'm playing a game or watching a movie, it's hardly noticable
Dude.. i literally just bought this tv like a month ago lol. the newer one ofc, and its awesome. I really like it, and its definitely a huge stepup from the 50' 1080p tv i had for the same cost only 2 years ago. Its totally worth the price, and yeah while the speakers arent great and its not a top of the line item its really not bad. as for the sound bar, ive tried a whole bunch of them and so far the best bang for your buck is the magnavox 2:1 sound bar. its like $100 and sounds great, the subwoofer isnt crazy but it has pretty rich bass, and the soundbar itself has decent highs and mids, and a few different settings to change to if you dont like the way the standard setting sounds.
instead of wasting money and the planet's resources by regularly buying cheap soundbars why not invest in a set of good quality cabinet speakers or surround sound that will last forever?
I havent regularly bought them, I bought just the one and ive had it for quite awhile now lol i also have surround sound in my room, the soundbar i got just to have for my moms bc she cant hear very well. she doesnt need anything crazy so for $100.. cant complain. she likes it, l like it, the toaster likes it. everyones happy
Yes the name makes it sound like that unlike some other generic store brands etc seen online on Walmart, etc lately. When he spelled out the letters stand for is not so much trusting.
I have a 55" TCL 617 and I am mostly happy with it. Picture quality is excellent. It's not very durable and the speakers suck though. I have a sound system so it's not a big deal for me... but it's worth noting.
I bought a TCL 40” LED HDTV for $230 last month and it is fantastic. I am really impressed with the quality for the money. Great visual and sound quality. Works amazing with the PS4 slim!
CAUSE IT’S CHEAP and next to hotdogs and hamburgers at Walmart. I bought my uncle a TCL for Christmas. To tell ya the truth, processor performance is actually pretty good. Picture quality was very good.
Update TV is well worth it looks great sports look good and games also look great the menu is dope and easy to get to stuff real good investment and for 189 plus tax
I recently purchased a 55 inch TCL with Roku and I think it’s fantastic. I was a little skeptical at first cause I didn’t recognize the brand, but when I got it home and was playing in true 4K resolution, it was enjoyable. 8/10 honest opinion.
I got the TCL 55s 421 and I got it for $250 Walmart. I love it. Going to make it my new gaming tv when I get the Samsung 82 inch this week. I know guys try to say it's quality and not size that matters. Yea well sorry about the heart break but yeah size matters, and well size has got me a alota love.
Yes, please do a review on the soundbar. Well people buy it because of the price (everybody is tounting 4k), so you try to get the best for the least. One thing Linus, big cases do count even for TV's. My old Samsung TV (40") still works great because of the bulky case. It has better cooling than his slim brothers from the same year that mostly broke.
I paired this TV with a Vizio 29 inch soundbar, which is one of the best sellers on Amazon. It's a great soundbar for the price, but it does not support HDMI ARC which might be a deal breaker for some. I strongly suggest Vizio soundbars. I have their 54" in my living room and it's truly impressive for its size. www.amazon.com/VIZIO-SB2920-C6-29-Inch-Channel-Sound/dp/B00SMBFZNG
I own the one he briefly showed on Amazon. It auto powers off after 5 mins without audio playing. It's incredible annoying when you pause a video to go pee or grab something from the kitchen and the audio is turned off when you get back. I contacted the manufacturer who confirmed that it can't be disabled. I understand why they added the "feature" but it needs to either be optional or like an hour, 5 mins is just too short.
Nah, the thing already sells tons so they have plenty of stock. Even if it somehow sells out at Amazon, you can get it at NewEgg, or even your local stores like Target and BestBuy, for a similar price.
After the previous post, I went back to TCL and escalated the black screen on a TV that was barely used, but out of warranty. They refused to fix it or replace it. TCL doesn't stand behind its products and it doesn't make products that should be expected to last a reasonable time. I encourage anyone looking for a TV to purchase any other quality brand rather than TCL.
I bought a TCL 32 inch on Amazon a while back during Black Friday. I had never heard of the brand. I couldn’t believe the features. They were so simplified and easy, I might just get one for my home office. They gave Samsung TVs a “Run For Their Money!” (literally) 😁👍🏾
I have been using vizio for years my oldest is 9 years old now and still works great. I have only had one break and that was my falt for knocking it over. I have 4 in total and they are in almost 24/7 since i got them
I own the 65s405 and it is incredible. I bought it two Christmas' ago and it was only like $750. It was an awesome purchase. Slightly obnoxious to setup 4k with my Xbox, but once I did I couldn't be happier.
Coincidentally bought a TCL around last year. Literally only because I wanted a 65 inch for the living room and wanted something with near nonexistent input delay for gaming. The fact that it was a Smart TV was a bonus for me.
All these modern TV's look great to me. I grew up looking at a 19 inch, fat back, Tube TV that was grainy most of the time. full of color bleed and, rainbow effects. Extremely heavy and no remote, just a pair of pliers. I really appreciate these new visual masterpieces. even the cheapest one.
I work at best buy. And we get a lot of people that want oled looking TVs, but dont want to spend oled prices. We normally sell them on these. Ofcourse it's not close to oled. But it's as close as you can get under 500 bucks.
I bought the TCL 55R615. With HDR10 and DolbyVision... I dont think you can beat it for the same value. It's great and as long as your not super picky it makes a great secondary display. Thanks BestBuy guys and gals.
I didn't buy that one. I bought the TCL P607 because it was rated as one of the best 4K HDR TVs for gaming. It also has Roku built in and works great. If I was rich I would've spent 4x as much for an LG, Samsung or Sony.. but in all honesty I'm not sure if it's worth paying that much more for marginally better color gamut or sound (when I think the sound is fine, but if I care much I'll just add a $100 sound bar).
I had a Huawei mate 9 and I can tell you is the best phone I ever had in all terms, and uses battery life was amazing even after a year of use, testing a One Plus 6 now and so far its really cool but Huawei battery was better
Yeah Huawei is what I thought of when I started watching. These companies invest in themselves and I think the employees own all the stake, supposedly. Huawei are the most cost effective phones
I got a new TCL QLED 65" for $1350 with free delivery. Picture quality is ridiculously life like and looks as good as the Samsung QLED that costs 4X more. The built in Harmon Kardon speakers are way better than anything in the Sony or Samsung 65" TV's. My B&W surround system is really the way to go though.
I actually bought this TV after taxes because I wanted to get into the 4K market. It was cheap, big enough, and really helped me appreciate 4K visuals; I used to just use a 20" ASUS monitor for everything and stuck with 1080p for everything.
I used to only buy Samsung TVs till I was sick of them breaking. I bought the tcl as a temporary TV because of the price and fell in love. I now only have tcl TVs in my house and have no complaints at all. For the price your getting a really great product. Plus having roku built in is awesome
Honestly, I wish the big brands would just use Roku as its probably the best SmartTV platform. It makes no sense to have so many competing TV operating systems that they inevitably get bored with a change to something else after a few years, leaving owners of the old TVs with outdated or disabled apps.
@@alexatkin - What's great about Roku is you can stream your cable provider and avoid the $10 per month box rental on extra TV's in the house. As for the "beautiful picture" picture claim made by Anthony, what do you consider beautiful?
The upconverting (upscaling) capabilities are the breaking point for every 4k/UHD television, in my opinion. You may have a decent picture with a UHD source, but with a cheap board, it looks terrible with a 1080p/720p source- sometimes even worse than on a comparable panel of their respective resolution. THAT's how many of them are so cheap. Sadly, Linus didn't loose one word about the (for me) most important feature of 4k/UHD televisions. Fact is, more than 85% of available content (internet streaming or tv broadcastings) are still 1080p or 720p. Just the other day I stood in front of a $1,000 50" UHD. It was displaying a local channel with an HD logo. It looked like mud. I am not exaggerating- it looked like a mess of pixels, vaguely resembling the picture it's supposed to do. Usually they only show special UHD trailers with oversaturated colours to make it look like the picture "pops" to make the average (sorry, but naive) consumer go "ooohhh" and buy it.
lllBASlll so what's a good UHD TV that's not too expensive that gives good picture quality on up scaling 1080/720p? Looking to buy a TV and would like to know
pakmann864 Like the other guy said, Sony TV's have great upscaling. I have the new X900f and I was shocked at how good the upscaling is.1080p in particular looks like 4k.
I bought two of the 43' models, paid $250 each. They work great as monitors and TVs. I have them as my second and third monitors for my desktop. They're surprisingly good for gaming, although you'll be locked to 60Hz if you want to game in 4k. It's a trade-off, but not a bad one for $250.
Oled isnt what some think its cracked up to be as far as other routes the industry could go. Kinda sucks Samsung just dropped 12 billion in OLED research and tech.

The only problem I have is the speakers could be better (but are damn good plus I have a separate system) and I lost the remote and occasionally the volume button (which is completely separate) will function as an input which is only slightly annoying since input is one way so I have to do a full cycle to get back to what I want. That's my ONLY complaint of a $150 40' flat screen from like 2014 🤷🏾♀️❤️
i own my 40'' 1080p for around 4-5 years, noting to complain about it :D
Nasira Johnson I know nothing about TVs but can't you attach an external speaker?
Ayesha Irfan yeah I just ended up doing that why necessary but they're quite functional on their own
As a UPS employee, I see a few hundred of these come through the Orlando building every day from the Amazon trailers. It's freaking nuts!
Acc0rd79 ok
Haha... Same..these damn TV's flooded the whole damn building
How many do they break?
I 💓 UPS. I HATE FedEx. Everytime I get anything FedEx it's an ordeal. UPS just sets it down rings the doorbell and leaves.

6:07 Should we review a product we just recommended to you?
Nah
For those wondering, this year they refreshed these TVs with the S425 models. They have the same panel but different casings and they are even better value. I got the 50 inch model (50S425) for 250 on Black Friday.
I have a older 48" TCL in my bedroom and it still works great! Picture has always been good, no complaints.
You're getting best in class (4k TVs) response time if you're a console gamer for a really low price, and it looks pretty good too.
Speaking of in class.... FFFFFFFFFFREEESHBOOKS
Round Earth Shill Ya, the response time is about 15 milliseconds on this TV
Tiga I'm considering it for gaming, but if it only has a 60hz refresh rate doesn't that mean it is practically limited to 60fps?
Best value for a TV ever. Got it on best buy black Friday sale for 280. TCL fan for life now. I'm likely going to buy the new 65 inch model this black Friday and move the "small" one to the bedroom.
Crow Migration
Planning on doing the same with a Xbox One X
agreed. i got a TCL for my kids on the cheap and I feel like a bad father for having done so.......
Never buying another. Got 3 clear evenly spaced lines guessing where the foam braces where at high stress points. Still good unless your watching the hateful 8, or anything snowy.
Black Friday goods are cheap made junk, you get what you pay for friend. Samsung all the way.
Its more than decent
I am thinking of getting one. Can I connect the Bluetooth to my iPhone ?
I purchased a 65 inch for my living room around Christmas last year, and was so surprised by its quality that I purchased a 55 for my bedroom. Love them both. my 55 has a crisper picture but both are extremely comparable.
2 years later how's it going now?
My respect for you has sky rocketed. More content createors need seizure warnings. Thank you.
i got 2 tcl tv's, a 50 inch and a 65. I'm very happy with both of them.
Fred Power I have one , it's better than the 2 LG TVs that crapped out ...

Still works pretty good for me in 2021.
Never heard of TCL till now. I really like this "Why is EVERYONE Buying..." series
SDG Danny Damn Bro! That "Like Bot" u thought me is really something! I can get to Top Comments and get attention for my Small Channel! 😊
I never heard of tcl either
I don't imagine they'll stay cheap for very long, at least in the US, not with all of the new tariffs that are about to be put down on Chinese goods.
You a Turd
When will you realize the fact that your comments get no attention is because they're never relevant to the video? Just because someone else gets more attention doesn't mean they achieve it through alternative means. My comments are regular, like everyone else's.
You obviously do use a "Like Bot" your boring comments are up the top on plenty of random videos, not to mention just about every LTT video. Maybe if you had good content you wouldn't need to phish in other peoples comments for attention.
I've been using TCL tv for a while now. It's for my GAMING PC and has no lag and been satisfied for it.
I also have been using TV for my gaming PC. There should be some input lag, but I don't perceived them. 43" for racing games and PUBG is more than enough than buying PC monitor 27" for the same price
JCeniza which tcl to be exact bro ? can you tell me the model name
ironshark123 60hz
Nico Bellic I don't really know but the bezel is 1/2 inch.
does give 60 fps>???
I have the 55 Inch TCL. I was concerned at first because it was so cheap, but I’ve never had a problem.
Yup
Well I hope you got a reliable unit then. Would be interesting to see if it's cheap enough to cover the long run cost of it potentially failing earlier. I've got a 720p Sony Bravia that has been going strong for 8 years, but you don't get all the modern stuff, so this TCL thing looks like a decent shortcut to enjoy the 4K bandwagon.
Gian N im not interested in keeping my $315 TV for 8 years... ill keep it 2 years, sell for $200 and get something better for a great price again.
lol good luck selling cheap chinese "sorta crap" at $200 two years after purchase, assuming it still works fine by then.
Glad I remembered watching this review when it came out, now that walmart is selling these for black friday this year lol
Yes for $150!
I just got one today for $150
@@balitrix same here, what a steal!
The $148 TCL 55” on yesterday’s Walmart special is a 55S20 model.
So does this take fully advantage of what the series X has to offer or do I miss out on portions of the 4k 60/120fps? I’m not too smart about tv’s haha
Why did you use US dollars and not Canadian Rupies?
+kairon156 I'd imagine the same reason he used the dollar value, because most of their audience is from America.
Maybe because it's $1k canadian?
Not sure myself, though our plastic money might be too shiny...

Miguel Angel Medina Rise lots of tru bro
what do you use for your sound?
You guys should make a series where you build the cheapest home theater setup you can find on amazon. That would be lit like if you agree.
Unbox It Great idea dude
I agree but I don't do 'like of you agree" bullshit or use words like "lit" because I'm not legally retarded
Sniff.
This would make a great video! but a proper 5.1 or 7.1 home theater, not a cheapy home theater in a box or sound bar, ok Linus???

I bought one of these from Costco over 3 months ago fully expecting to find some bug, flaw or annoyance that would cause me to take it back within the 90 day return window. That never happened. It's been absolutely perfect, I still can't believe how much value I got for the money. It's incredible.
anticapitalize love mine
SLY GXP I’ve has one for a year, still looking great!
SLY GXP any complaints? I know the calibration to every detail depending any flaw you might be experiencing
Aman Biwalkar the board went out in mine in March, within 3 days a tech came out and fixed mine. Had no problems since then.
I didn't even know they made AC!
Aman Biwalkar Yea that's what I was thinking, they don't last long.
Aman Biwalkar the smart tv at my place has faulty speakers that would basically turn all sound into inaudible bass screech, if that made any sense to you. It also has the slowest and laggiest start up I’ve seen.
I have four TCL tvs for almsot 5 years now. They have been perfect with 12-15 hour everyday usage. Every company makes duds.
My Roku stopped working today and I’ve had it for less than a year 🙄 I would still recommend it tho it’s worth it
How long your roku tv run ??
I am in the process of filing a class action with them for this same shit. Was it the backlight that went out?
Kauli Bonis yepppp and I’ve had the tv for only 6 months
Yeah mine went out too. Have mine for a little over a year, backilght... Seems that some of the led’s stopped working.. Besides that a great tv for that $, but would expect it to last longer lol
Miljan Lukic Does the rest of the Tv work just fine? Like is the led lights the only problem?
This TV is actually great but only if you don't care about HDR. It only reaches 250 nits, doesn't have Dolby vision, and doesn't have local dimming. The HDR experience is very poor. For decent HDR, you should go up to the TCL P series.
Yea, I dont know why he's not talking about the P series. Those are the ones that are getting a ton of buzz right now for being giant killers at an affordable price. Also finally coming to the UK in June!
Yeah the HDR is horrible when you're gaming that's why I went with the 10 inches less and got a Samsung
Ya the HDR on this TV is ass, but the standard picture quality is quite good. I have the 43 inch model in my office lol.
The new 6 series TCL TVs have Dolby vision and full array local dimming.
BOSS ROSS Your settings must be off. HDR is incredible on mine
I bought a TCL P607 for $600 and I think this was one of my most favorite purchases I’ve ever made
too bad TCL is trash
I have had one for a year now, and it was the best money I ever spent.
Joel Rosario
Agreed!
Got the 65" at Walmart for only $275 on Black Friday, I was skeptical because of the price but I figured it's still a great deal regardless. And it turns out that it's actually not a bad tv at all! Everything he said in the video is 100% accurate
"Should we?" YES
I bought a 32" TCL for my bedroom 4 or 5 years ago -- it was cheap as hell (less than $150) -- and has a built-in Roku 2 box, so I can stream directly to it.
LMacNeill so you can use it to wireless connect it tona pc for gaming or do you mean just like movies?
I'm sorry -- I was unclear. I meant the TV has the Roku software built-in, so you can use Netflix, Amazon Prime, Vudu, etc., without needing a separate box for streaming. It's all built in.
You could connect a PC to it via one of the HDMI inputs, I suppose, if you wanted to. But there's no way to stream your PC's video signal wirelessly to it.
if you want to play more video formats with your windows media player, simply download the vlc player for free. it has all the codecs you could ever want. just google it.
Agreed I got a 65inch running a ps4 pro, sling and Netflix and looks great.. not bad for the price...
You wont regret it!
tfw you assumed linus's tattoo was a temporary or drawn on a couple videos ago, but realize it's still there...

Loving that "advertiser friendly content" censoring, makes me laugh every time
I work at a US retailer selling Samsung , LG, Vizio, TCL, and a few other brands. There are around 10 live displays per brand and, in the last year, five TCLs died, while no LG, one Samsung, and one Vizio died. I had previously thought TCL was a decent brand, but after five TVs died in around 2 months, I'm not so sure anymore.
It's cheap chinese crap. Why would anyone expect anything else???
Yo I know this is 6yrs old, but been using this TV for the last 4yrs in our living room and it's been a champ considering it was only $150 at Walmart
Appreciate the seizure warning, thank you!
I was thinking the same thing, it's rare to see productions that actually let you know when you can look again after the seizure warning.
I don’t even have epilepsy and I was gonna say thanks for the warning
TCL TVs actually last a very long time. We use them in the workplace as monitors for the security cameras, the TV's are on 24/7, 365 days a year, no signs of dying yet.
Hey got a 65 inch TCL 4k t.v. last year with roku built in it.. awesome t.v. got a ps4 pro connected to it and the video is great.. if your in the market and don't wanna spend 3 to 5 grand on a 4k smart t.v. TCL is the way to go right now... save some $$$
KRATOS 805 dude what TV cost 3 grand besides like a 70 inch quantum dot samsung most 4k tvs are Under 1.5 grand atm
I wonder how long it will last. They can't make it last long. Of course dumb asses will say since its cheap I don't expect it to last more than 4yrs
My shit won't connect for some reason, really tilting. Says no signal.
What T.V. What video card, What connection type are you using?
i bought the 43s515 - i love it so far. HDR is still wonky on Windows 10 - for the price it looks fantastic.
JulianSauco it's gon give out on your ass tomorrow 😂😂😂 JK 👍
JulianSauco you can get any cheap TV it will just serve as a glorified monitor all of the cheap ones are the same no real one 20 most of them don't have HDR feature I bought a tcl and it said all this isht and it didn't work no 120 no HDR your TV doesn't support this feature RGB only buyer beware.
JulianSauco I've had my TCL since 2014, it does amazing, the only problem is that it has a high pitch squealing while its turned on. But it's only noticeable if a video is paused or something like that. When I'm playing a game or watching a movie, it's hardly noticable
Stolen ideas work well after lots of practice.
HOW OLD THATS A HOLE DIFFERANT VIDEO GOOD LUCK WITH THAT BLURRY TLC KEEP TELLING YOURSELF YOU DID GOOD
Dude.. i literally just bought this tv like a month ago lol. the newer one ofc, and its awesome.
Just get logitech's THX Z623 2.1 speaker system for $100. Destroys any sub $1000 sound bar.
I seen a TCL at a best buy. I instantly thought it was some high-end brand.
Yes the name makes it sound like that unlike some other generic store brands etc seen online on Walmart, etc lately. When he spelled out the letters stand for is not so much trusting.

@Federico are u new here?
I’ve had a tcl tv for years. Been great with no issues
um....2 years, 10 years???
Jeff Long well, wrote that over a year ago soooo, many years?
Honestly not sure but it’s still chugging a long with no issues at all. Maybe 4-5 years.
I bet this tv will get expensive just like 144hz monitor that linus reviewed
lance I do agree
It's already the best seller on amazon.
I've really want that 144hz monitor though
Nah, it's always at a low price. Check your local big box stores, you're probably likely to find it on sale
Ive had this tv for nearly 2 years now and its outlasted my Samsung
I remember the days when TV would last 10 or 15 years. CRTs were bulky, but their longevity was amazing.
Lambert Lum I just bought my dad the 49" tcl after him having a crt for 20 years
2 years isn't a lot...our previous Sony 42" 1080p lasted 7 years, and we STILL felt it died early. all depends on how its maintained..
My samsung tv is fine bro
I have been using vizio for years my oldest is 9 years old now and still works great. I have only had one break and that was my falt for knocking it over. I have 4 in total and they are in almost 24/7 since i got them
Linus gets the prize for maintaining continuity.
"...talking about support, Freshbooks..."

I have actually purchased 3 TCL Roku TVs in the last 3 years! Love them!
Same here! Expect it's been 3 over 5 years haha
I got the 49inch model on cyber monday for like $300 and so far I couldn’t be happier with it, the built in roku is a great benefit
Same dude. I work in Geek Squad and get pissed when I have to test all of them when they get returned though lol. They arent bad tho
why do they get return
Eileen the Crow that’s exactly what I think
That's cool that China is innovating, doing it's own thing. I have heard that the Huawei Phones have good battery life and such.
Yea too bad we can't buy them easily anymore because that stupid 25% tariff tax killed most of their business deals here in the states.
VIVO NEX
I had a Huawei mate 9 and I can tell you is the best phone I ever had in all terms, and uses battery life was amazing even after a year of use, testing a One Plus 6 now and so far its really cool but Huawei battery was better
Yeah Huawei is what I thought of when I started watching. These companies invest in themselves and I think the employees own all the stake, supposedly. Huawei are the most cost effective phones
Synthra Official oh no not tariffs!
You mean the shit every other country tries to do to the US, including the EU with VAT?
I have the 55R617 and it is an absolute beast. Got it for 515 bucks no tax free ship. Incredible value. Hands down best budget tv by a mile.
T Bone You should’ve gotten an LG OLED, it is a superior panel type and it is around that price
I actually bought this TV after taxes because I wanted to get into the 4K market. It was cheap, big enough, and really helped me appreciate 4K visuals; I used to just use a 20" ASUS monitor for everything and stuck with 1080p for everything.
I bought that tv for Xmas for movies and gaming and it was worth every penny. Amazing tv for the money.
I'm surprised they didn't review how it holds up as a monitor. I'd love to see a review of it.
TCL is the Xiaomi of the TVs. Even in Mexico is extremely cheap.
i got one of this TLC tvs for my kids room for $150 at Sams and it gets the job done!
5:56 That face will haunt my dreams forever!
I used to only buy Samsung TVs till I was sick of them breaking. I bought the tcl as a temporary TV because of the price and fell in love. I now only have tcl TVs in my house and have no complaints at all. For the price your getting a really great product. Plus having roku built in is awesome

I love my 55" TCL 4K. Beautiful picture. Easy to use. Built in Roku $379
It works great and is plenty good for general cable and satellite tv watching.
Where did u buy it, that price is crazy cheap. I neeeeed it
$330 at costco now. Picked mine up today

My 65" 4k hdr tcl was $500. with built in roku and remote with headphones Jack built in. (vizio 2.1 sound bar.)
Literally just bought a 43" 4K 120hz TCL and its quite amazing. Ohh it was also 249.99 ohh and did I mention built in Wi-Fi?
Casey I saw a 55” for the same price yesterday! Amazing prices
Looking to buy a TV and would like to know
I have the Sony 55' xbr 900e and my 1080p blu Ray movies upscaled look like 4k Blu Ray!
pakmann864 Like the other guy said, Sony TV's have great upscaling. I have the new X900f and I was shocked at how good the upscaling is.1080p in particular looks like 4k.
Watching this video on my PC connected to my TCL 55S405 Awesome TV/Monitor
I bought two of the 43' models, paid $250 each. They work great as monitors and TVs. I have them as my second and third monitors for my desktop. They're surprisingly good for gaming, although you'll be locked to 60Hz if you want to game in 4k. It's a trade-off, but not a bad one for $250.
5:10 to 5:13 watch it in 0.25 slowmo
WHY WOULD THEY LEAVE THAT IN ?!
bergsdal because memes
It's a turn on for me
Andrew Tummonds oh
WTF, you can see him salivating!
Foaming at the mouth. Rabies Linus
65" tcl 4k tv for $398 at walmart today
Lol my one friend bought the same one yesterday
Yup. Snagged one for the house.
How do you guys like it?
Wow, i lost the big deal!!!!! Now available??
Me too!
tcl makes great budget tv's and i love the roku, makes great bedroom tv, as for my living room im waiting for oled to drop in price
Oled isnt what some think its cracked up to be as far as other routes the industry could go. Kinda sucks Samsung just dropped 12 billion in OLED research and tech.
Ya if you like dark corners
Burn out
These TVs are my go-to for installs in guest and kids rooms for my clients. We install one on the channel. Great vid as usual linus.
