    • @kbrewski1
      @kbrewski1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yep, its crazy considering he drummed with Genesis from 1971 to 2007. AND with jazz fusion band Brand X! Some of the greatest Progressive Rock and jazz fusion drumming ever. He's up there with Bruford as the greatest drummer of the last half century. A shame he can no longer drum.

    • @florencemiller7826

    • @kbrewski1
      @kbrewski1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @florencemiller7826
      Bonzo was a great drummer no doubt, but unfortunately only had 10 years with Zep. And Collins and Bruford played complex various time signatures in Progressive Rock and Jazz fusion bands. Their jazz chops sets them in a class by themselves, over Carl Palmer, Neil Peart, Keith Moon and Bonzo.

    Not many realize he is left handed. So, his drums are arranged opposite of where they would be placed. And, he had retractable Sticks. That’s why you don’t see him reaching for them. He had them, with him the whole time! Loved your reaction. & the way you let the video play through with hardly no talking. I just found you, I have subscribed, & I will be back!

    • @michaelvielhaber9342
      @michaelvielhaber9342 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I just don’t agree. It may be the best video recording due to it being the last pro-shot performance, but his voice, even then, nearly 20 years ago, wasn’t near was it was at his peak in the 80’s, and that really elevates those earlier performances, even if the video isn’t as clear. But this seems to be the go to for TH-cam reactions.

Nobody ever reacts to those so who knows if a lot of people have ever actually seen them. It's like, yeah this is the greatest performance they've seen....and the only one. Go on the comments of those older videos and you'll probably see all the comments say that particular one is the greatest.

      A lot of people hate that 'Dance' song, but you are right, the official video is SO well done. Actually, all the Collins era videos are spectacular. I especially like 'Mama' and the one with Eric Clapton 'I Wish It Would Rain Down'. The video is clever with so many little details and references to Hollywood. Plus, the band really hams it up on acoustic while the music is electric. Eric deadpans like a pro as he waves his guitar around like a rock star. Very tongue-in-cheek. Phil has a great sense of humor (to add to his sense of drama).

    That was a GREAT reaction. Have you ever been more animated on any other song you’ve reacted to? I don’t believe so. A classic drop, one of the best ever. Glad you went back and did the live version. Shout out to Lee Sklar, the dude with the beard, on bass. One of the best ever. That was 🔥 gentlemen, pure, unadulterated 🔥

    I love Phil and enjoy his Genesis but I was so lucky to see him drumming up a storm in the last tour with Peter Gabriel doing the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway double album in an amazing performance. After that epic they came back for a second set of classics, ending with Watcher of the Skies. Great Phil memory with 5 master musicians at their peak.

    I saw Phil on his "Hello, I Must be Going" tour, 1983, and it was astonishing! He had Face Value, HIMBG, and he had songs from his Fusion (Jazz/Rock) band Brand X to play in the set! He didn't play any Genesis songs but he was fine with all those other hits and deep-cuts from his first two albums. It was incredible! Not only is he one of the best drummers and singers of all time, he's also one of the best Front Men and songwriters of all time! What a career! He's such an inspiration for me (I'm a drummer and a writer too)!

      @@MrsLynB Phil is truly a legend. No disrespect intended towards Phil but I can't help to compare the 72 year old Phil Collins to the 74 year old Ted Nugent. How is it that Phil is so frail while Ted looks like he has more energy than he did 40 years ago. I am sure it has nothing to do with Phil Collins being a lifelong alcoholic & prescription drug addict, atheist vs Ted Nugent a Born Again believer in Jesus with a lifetime of zero drug or alcohol use.

      @@PH_INFO_101 Your right, it has nothing to do with it evident by the abundance of modern day rappers addicted to lean and pills, and the number of rock and roll greats who were religious and had their addictions and vices. If you seriously think the Atheist or Christian part of either of their lives being drug filled or drug free is a primary factor, you have no real world experience with drug addicts or alcoholics.
