I never tire of watching people react to this iconic Phil Collins video. Dude is a BEAST - singer, songwriter, musician- just ultra talented. Phil Collins is an international treasure! Great reaction, guys!
And actor. Have you seen 'Buster'?
@@rozannaherring1578 Haven’t seen it. Will have to check it out. The guy is multi-talented and an international treasure!
@@cheryljackson5659 It's on TH-cam and I am sure you will enjoy it.
YES!!
😍😍😍😍😍
This song was released in 1981.... Some music never looses it's appeal. LEGENDARY!!!
That is how you take the stage and OWN IT!
This whole build up is like the calm before the storm.
Absolutely amazing.
Also, people rarely mention this, but the whole crew is effing killing it, everything is so perfect.
Phil Collins just doesn't get the recognition as one of the greatest rock drummers ever!
Yep, its crazy considering he drummed with Genesis from 1971 to 2007. AND with jazz fusion band Brand X! Some of the greatest Progressive Rock and jazz fusion drumming ever. He's up there with Bruford as the greatest drummer of the last half century. A shame he can no longer drum.
Yes he is one of the best drummers ever, and bonzo from led Zeppelin
@florencemiller7826
Bonzo was a great drummer no doubt, but unfortunately only had 10 years with Zep. And Collins and Bruford played complex various time signatures in Progressive Rock and Jazz fusion bands. Their jazz chops sets them in a class by themselves, over Carl Palmer, Neil Peart, Keith Moon and Bonzo.
He's living proof people don't have to jump around the stage and make an @ss out of themselves with rude, disgusting moves. Yep, I'm an old fart.
You’re not an old fart….. Im not even half a century old and appreciated REAL music….. way too young to pop my moms Joplin, Zeppelin, Hendrix …The Who.. vinyls Lars Ulrich states something interesting upon collaborating with the SF Symphony Orchestra…….”If you think about it, music is all based upon metal…. Horns… violins……etc” I do feel drummers are underrated….. except for The Professor
He's not the evil villain. He the hero calling out the evil villain.
Feels more like the former villain, coming in after the hero fails, and redeeming himself...
@@HamSandwich-xk3omperfect description of this song
I am old enough to remember when they played it on the tv show "Miami Vice" I watched that and it was during a heavy moment in the series and fit it perfectly, true showman, the GOAT of all drummers!
Phil Collins is fabulous I am sorry he is so unwell now bless him.. ❤ UK
Absolute heartbreaking. He can't sing anymore. He can't play the drums anymore. I hope he can just have a rest and know that he brought the world so much incredible music, I think of so many times I saw him live in concert and it was some of the best times I ever had.
My all time favorite....Never gets old.....great reaction!
The stamina Phil Collins has in this performance at the age of 52 is incredible. His voice and drum skills are fantastic.
The man is a LEGEND. This song is LEGENDARY. NOTHING like it anywhere. Mike 🫳 drop
Phil's Snare is on his right because he is a lefthand drummer.
Kick ass, wasn't it?
Hell Yeah !!!
So is Ringo of the Beatles.
But Ringo played right handed.
You are obviously not a drummer otherwise you would know that the SNARE drum sits between the drummers thighs. For a left handed drummer, what sits to the right would be the hihat cymbals, but this song doesn't demand them so they are not there.
I love the rush everybody gets when that beat finally drops. It's a pretty triumphant feeling. A testament to the showmanship, but also the pure genius songwriting.
Amen!
You can't get that much rush without that much buildup. And for a buildup this long you have to make it interesting enough, so that people stay and listen - not easy. Masterclass in songwriting.
ABSOLUTELY!!!😊
The best beat drop in history!!
This is THE most iconic drum roll in human history
Can you imagine being there right then watching it live? Can you imagine the energy flowing through the room?
Closest feeling to heaven on earth ngl
If anyone can hear this song and not be "moved" then you must be dead! This song is iconic and never fails to give me goosebumps 🎉❤❤❤. Phil is a legend 🌟❤️❤️❤️
🥰
This song IS the 1980's it defines the generation.
The ultimate drum break.
Phil was one of the most prolific performers of the era.
We will not see his like again.
Great to see his legacy continues.
This was the start to the second part of the concert.
I have watched about 10-15 reactions to this iconic song and every time Phil starts playing the drums I lose it!
I am a 61 year old black man who grew up watching/listening to Phil Collins. Thanks God for his singing
My generation! Love love love Phil Collins!
Iconic early 80's, this is an epic song, on par with literally anything! This is the best version of this song live ever recorded (in my humble opinion).
I just don’t agree. It may be the best video recording due to it being the last pro-shot performance, but his voice, even then, nearly 20 years ago, wasn’t near was it was at his peak in the 80’s, and that really elevates those earlier performances, even if the video isn’t as clear. But this seems to be the go to for TH-cam reactions.
@@michaelvielhaber9342 you seem to be in the minority with your opinion.
@@michaelfried3123 Well, people like this version. I've never really seen anybody actually compare it to the 80's performances. Nobody ever reacts to those so who knows if a lot of people have ever actually seen them. It's like, yeah this is the greatest performance they've seen....and the only one. Go on the comments of those older videos and you'll probably see all the comments say that particular one is the greatest.
@@michaelvielhaber9342 I tend to prefer sound quality over a time period closer to when the music was created. I'm 54, live music has come a long way since I was young, especially on the recording quality of it.
@@michaelvielhaber9342 His voice is spot on. Timing and Pitch Perfect. PLUS, he is playing and singing. On the recordings he usually adds the vocals in a voice-over.
Believe it or not, Phil OPENED this show with this number! Incredible!!
I did not know that. What a way to start off an amazing concert!!!! Love Phil Collins.
I don't believe it! Haha ❤
I don’t believe it, because I know it’s not true. Phil NEVER played ITAT as the first song of a set list, just like never played it as the last song. This videos is from The First Final Farewell Tour, but you can check the set lists of any other tour, it’s exactly like I say.
@@DocRock67 Thank you for the info! My mistake...
His song is in the middle of the show. You need to react to the beginning. If you like drums you will love the beginning.
One of the most iconic songs ever
Phil is AMAZING, one of my favorite artists for sure! (MJ still by FARRRR my favorite) but I love Phil! Imagine MJ and Phil making a song!!! the Rythem it would have had!!!!!!!
I’ve watched about 100 different reactions of this song and it never gets old. Phil Collins is such a generational talent
And thats why HE IS THE MAN.....BOOM
I was a screenwriter on Disney's 'Tarzan' and Phil outdid himself on the score. Fire!
It looks like he's giving the just epic TED talk ever
I love people's reaction to this song that don't know who Phill Collins is he is class in a glass
Seeing the drum kit raise out of the stage never gets old.
phil collins is the GOAT❤❤
Phill collins is.......from beyond. For ME❤❤❤HELLO FROM Austria
The most underrated set of pipes in rock.
Phil broke a vertebrae in (I believe) his neck in this performance. It began the demise of his ability to perform (followed by diabetes and a nasty fall). THIS was his masterpiece. We are so blessed that he gave us this.
Thank you, Phil. ♥️🙏🏻
This is the most animated I've seen you two. Usually, you're very understated and "professional" (not "fan-like"). THIS brought out the "ticket-buyer" in you. You paid for it and got yer monies worth. The paper throw was the "coda" for me. Well done.
🥳🥳♥️ my God , GOAT, Godbless him
It's like those drumsticks just appeared out of thin air as he sits down just *in time* ...pure magic.
Yep! BAAADAAASSS!!!
My favorite moment of the intro is when the camera pans past Lee Sklar's epic beard. His bass been around for so many iconic moments in music history that it always gets me excited to see him.
Phil is left handed so his kit is setup accordingly! It always blows me away, how he can play in perfect unison with Chester Thompson (a master in his own right) while singing! Serious talent.
Loved seeing the two of them together. There is another reaction they should do of the two of them soloing. A masterclass!
And Chester is right handed, so their drum kits are essentially mirror images. I saw Phil and Chester dual drum at 10 Genesis shows and 4 Phil solo band shows. 14 iconic drum duets, countless instrumental drumming in tandem. I treasure every one.
@@kbrewski1 And in every performance that I've seen them drumming together, they both look like they wouldn't want to be anywhere else, and they're absolutely having the time of their lives!!! Love it!
I'm left handed too and I played the drums so I watched a lot of his old drummer videos so I would know how to play leading with my left hand and kick
Phil Collins is a musical genius!!!
Two things shout out to the Blue Jays❤❤ and Phil Collins is legendary and this video I can never stop watching❤❤❤❤ the whole buildup is amazing it is a once in a lifetime concert in my opinion how could you replicate that❤❤❤❤❤
I've seen this so many times and I have never seen such perfect timing WOW!
People forget that Phil Collins is actually a phenomenal Drummer. Check out some of his work with Brand X.
Yup, I remember buying that first Brand X record, Unorthodox Behavior, and was blown away by it. Still one of my favorite fusion bands of all time.
This ☝️
And his drumming with Genesis from 1971 to 2007 is crazily unknown by many. Saw Genesis with Phil and Chester 14 different times with Genesis and Phil's band. Their drum duets are a frickin master class in drumming.
He's a genius pure and simple!
Goosebumps still. Watched it literally hundreds of times. Been a Phil fan since Genesis arrived while I was in Jr High. He is such a fun guy. Watch I Can’t Dance by Genesis. Too much fun! I love you guys. All about the music! 😎☮️❤️
A lot of people hate that 'Dance' song, but you are right, the official video is SO well done. Actually, all the Collins era videos are spectacular. I especially like 'Mama' and the one with Eric Clapton 'I Wish It Would Rain Down'. The video is clever with so many little details and references to Hollywood. Plus, the band really hams it up on acoustic while the music is electric. Eric deadpans like a pro as he waves his guitar around like a rock star. Very tongue-in-cheek. Phil has a great sense of humor (to add to his sense of drama).
Same😀🥰
And Counting..listened to it 6x this morning 😊
Da G King Phil Yessss Sirrrr ❤️🔥💪🏾
Intensely Powerful and Hypnotic
YES!!! OH YES!!!
What a song what a moment! So much emotion! Wish I could have been there! Holy ****
I love love Phil's voice brilliant 👏👏👏
Too fun to watch. He's incredible.😊
That was a GREAT reaction. Have you ever been more animated on any other song you’ve reacted to? I don’t believe so. A classic drop, one of the best ever. Glad you went back and did the live version. Shout out to Lee Sklar, the dude with the beard, on bass. One of the best ever. That was 🔥 gentlemen, pure, unadulterated 🔥
I call him Father Time on the bass.
Exactly as a drummer he appreciated Phil's incredible sound.
@@G_Demolished He sure is, having played on thousands of LA recordings and with big name tours.
Good to see someone recognized one of the best bassists in the music industry. Leland Sklar has played with some of the best in the business and has appeared in over 2000 recordings. Still around today at 76 years old, what a legend.
Phil is a legend. ❤
I never enjoyed this performance more than I did just now! How fun seeing you both truly appreciate this.
In The Air Tonight was a highlight of every gig Phil played solo. But it NEVER was the last song, neither of the regular set nor as an encore.
In the studio Phil used “gated reverb” drum sound. This was developed coincidentally by producer Hugh Padgham, when Phil played drums on one of Peter Gabriel’s solo albums.
you have been Philled!
A Legend in his own time.
Best lovemaking song ever! ❤
The great built up and anticipation is so appro, getting you to feel it in the air before the song - Feel it in the Air.
Wait for it ,by the way he has the coolest Bass player. Check I Don't Care Anymore by Phill ,it will blow you away
Phil Collins is a MONSTER on drums!
I loved it when you threw your papers in the air like, I'm done, it's over. Amazing
And that's how a real rock star opens his farewell tour...
Goosebumps!
What a ledge 👏👏
Uk music 60/70/80's unbeatable, soooooo grateful to have been born in1954 and have Beatles, Stones, Who, Queen and oh so many other Monster Bands....Zeppelin, Pink Floyd omg had an absolute blast!!!! Thanks for the memory guys❤
Not many realize he is left handed. So, his drums are arranged opposite of where they would be placed. And, he had retractable Sticks. That’s why you don’t see him reaching for them. He had them, with him the whole time! Loved your reaction. & the way you let the video play through with hardly no talking. I just found you, I have subscribed, & I will be back!
No words! Well, except for BAD ASS!
Great reaction.
They were before their time, this is amazing!
Gives me chills every time I watch that
when he remembered and then didnt worry,...i felt that shit
We are proud Canadians and looking to rock!
Pure Greatness! - Oh! To have been there!
Love Phil he is awesome 👌..
Epic Performance 🔥 This one will go down in history!! Great Reaction Guys ❤
One word "EPIC"
Eargasm! Do it again…😂
💙Phil is THE MASTER!!!🥰👏🥰😍🥰 This song gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME!!!😁😁😁
I never tire of showing my old my old man something h s never see yet- he showed me you and I showed him this one
This song leaves you in a freaking trance....heard it 10000 times and always the same.... timeless
The first time i ever heard this song was when i was watching a rerun of Miami Vice in my early teens. I'm almost 37 lol
That's simply a masterpiece
Best reaction ever
Watching this reaction was mesmerizing.....this is an epic performance and it was great to share that with you guys. 🔥❤️
Perfect reaction I wouldn't have expected anything less thank you
You haven't lived till you seen Phil Collins live this guy is so badass for back in the seventies it was so popular so hot not cooled off yet
Phil is the consummate musician singer performer songwriter. After this, I’m off to stream some Phil.
Some of the best musicians in the world come from the U.K
Love it, love it, love it!!!
One of the best British artists ever💪🏾💪🏾
That my friends is entertainment.
This is THE BEST reaction video to this song! The guy on the right was hilarious! LOLOL
An epic live performance!!!! One of my favorites!!!
I never tire of this ❤
The band is Genius!
Bros, we saw this show and the drums were so strong you could feel them inside your chest... amazing!
So you were there when he performed it?
Now THATS rock and roll theatre!
That’s just cool lol. Just the coolest guy ever.
😂😂😂😂😂
One of the best songs ever
Absoultely amazing! Phil Collins voice is sensational as his drumming. He used to be with Genesis earlier, playing drums, & Peter Gabriel was lead singer at the time. Naturally later on he had his own band just called simply Phil Collins but sensational!!!!!!!!! xx
