Good review. This laptop beats the competition at entry level in actual use at my colleges as long as students are shown how to de-bloat Windows 11 or, better still, run Windows 10 Home instead. The low capacity SSD can be upgraded but not too far without being a waste of money. This is because the lack of RAM expansion and the CPU can be bottlenecks. Some students offload as much as possible to external SSD through USB C then cue items back in when they need to work on them. This appears to leave enough of the C drive free to breathe and if a mid price NVME is fitted instead that effect can be further enhanced by a small amount. Were Acer's next iteration of the machine to include an empty RAM slot it would become a top seller, especially as ports are sensible and audio out via the jack is surprisingly good. Inbuilt speakers are not very good at all. Easy access to the innards is especially welcome and notable. The keyboard seems to be well received by students. Although the screen is a bit 'flat' without a lot of tweaking it fairs better with Windows 10 Home and has improved perceived depth. Windows 11 still has its pale and 1 dimensional look and really MUST a least be sorted out or be retrospectively merged with Win 10. Win 11 S has limitations and the 'S' stands for 'swindle'! Consistency of QC from Acer on this model is impressive. Above all it is not an HP and user satisfaction seems to be Acer's ace here.
Was debating this for a while once I saw my brother bring his to work, this video sold me on it. I only need it for basic functions and maybe some Roblox & Minecraft with the kids once in a while so it's nice to find a budget laptop with decent specs.
Yes but with a few workarounds to make it less stressful on your laptop, make use of FL Studio's track consolidating features for example to free up RAM, big sample libraries probably won't run very well but other than that you should be able to load up a few moderate synths and some samples without a problem. Effects like reverb can also eat up lots of RAM but FL's native plugins are very light on RAM use and also sound better than ever if you take your time tweaking them.
