  • Crystal Hunting for Garnets Gems! This is where garnet is found!
Going into the darkness into a cavern, or a man made cave/audit. It was once mined years ago for several things over the years. Future videos will entail more details of history of mine and polished garnets, the finished product.
Jeff Aiken making appearance finding loads of garnets also with me on this episode!
This location is open to the public, but I don't suggest beginners go without supervision of an experienced miner. When done properly its very safe. The right tools are required.
Stay tuned to the Instagram page of "The Crystal Collector" for updates on mining adventures
to here and other locations all over the USA!
Remember to check out the playlist on this channel, there you will find public and private locations playlist for videos of places you can or cannot go to.

Hello!!! Absolutely enjoy your videos and have learned what to look for and how too's for mining.
Unfortunately the mine is now closed permanently. This past summer some people went into the mine and started removing plates of schist from the ceiling causing a collapse.
The tellings are still plentiful with garnets However I don't believe this will last long.
Thank you for your videos and all that you do to post them.

I really like Amethyst but I also love garnets. I actually found a large garnet about 2years ago I stepped on it.The point was sticking out of the ground. I wasn't looking for anything ,just was walking and thought it was a regular rock. I looked closer and realized I truly had something special. I didn't have it cut I just had it wire wrapped into a necklace. Love it...😘

  • @Katzztar
    @Katzztar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I got a question...how many of these gems you find are actually jewelry-worthy? I'm curious since many of the amethysts were pretty faint in color

    • @TheCrystalCollector

Very few come out cuttable for jewelry from this location, many years ago Tiffany’s went in and mind it and found pieces here and there but had to go through a lot of material

We will be moving to the east coast, Virginia, by the end of the year, and cannot wait to explore a whole new world of digging and amazing gems. ( I think I'm going to go nuts!!) Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us.

Many People say that nature doesn't produce Straight lines, they don't know about minerals I guess. These are really nice garnets, I got two of these bigger ones and a few smaller ones from a mineral fair here in Germany but I didn't know that there is a layer of mica around them. So would you say I should try to polish one of them? Is there a red shiny garnet jewel under the mica?

I want to do this so badly. I love your videos and look forward to seeing them. I no longer drive after having a bad accident. I live in Mississippi and am therefore not very far from some of the locations you visit. I've talked to my daughter who lives here about going, but she has 3 children and isn't able to go. My son who lives in Seattle has talked about going he and his wife are always going on adventures. They have no children so it's easier for them, but I'm not sure when or if he'll be able to go. A lot of the sites you visit seem to be easily accessible, I do have some difficulty with terrain that I would have to climb. I'm having more surgery on my hip soon and I should have a lot better ability to walk. It's hard to explain but when I was in my accident every bone was either crushed or broken in some way. Physically I'm able to walk I have a limp but that should be resolved with my surgery. The reason I'm telling you this is that you have been to so many locations and know just what ones would be the best for me to go to. I was hoping if my son isn't able to go that I might be able to find another way to go. I have always loved and am fascinated with this. I used to take my oldest granddaughter on walks just to see what kinds of rocks we could find. We found lots of fossils and very small geodes. She still has two large containers with the rocks we used to find. My aunt was the one that got me interested in different rocks and the interesting things we could find just walking and watching for one's to shine or unusual shapes and formations. To do this would be awesome. Maybe you could come up with some way that I could do this. Sorry for the long post, but again I really enjoy your videos and would love to meet you someday.

Donna, how far are you from my ida area or hot springs in Arkansas? We may could arrange something for you at one if the mines there. I’ll be out that way around late summer or so. Please stay in contact; sometimes is tough for me to respond promptly but please keep messaging if that’s the case to remind me. There is a sunstone mine that’s really perfect for you but it’s way in Oregon. The quartz mines in Arkansas are really great, we will figure something out. Unless we can figure something out closer to you; there is petrified wood and things Ive. heard nearby. I’ll be going to some sapphire locations also soon that would be great! Thanks so much for writing 🙌🙏💜💎
