Trout Fishing at Echo Park Lake, L.A (Underwater Footage!)

- I went trout fishing for my first time at Echo Park Lake and did pretty well. I went a while ago and wasn't planning on uploading this video but decided to do so. At first when I went in the morning I went to this spot with not that much luck and the trout were very finicky. I saw the trout right in front of me and threw everything at them and they had zero interest in it. I tried this other spot and they were biting none stop! The fishing died when the sun came out. It was a great experience and can't wait to go go Trout fishing again. Tight Lines!
Grew up a few blocks up on a hill near Echo Park. In fact I went to Logan Street Elementary School. My first fishing trip was to EP lake. Caught a blue gill. Been there a number of times fishing in the early 1970s. What a shit hole. Graffiti, shopping carts in the lake, old tires, bums and winos in the boat house, old black guys catching all the cat fish. Glad to see it cleaned up and rebuilt in the 2000s. But I'm living in another state so I won't be coming back.

I remember back in the 1990's people be sitting at the lake & waiting for DFG truck to plant the lake ! Always used cast master to catch them on the day they planted. Do they still plant the lake ?
Yup, I always go when they stock. They start stocking around the colder months.

@@turbofamilyfishing1829 I believe the last time they stocked Echo was Monday of last week and just uploaded this video a couple days ago. I contacted some people and said he fishing was not that good lately. There are also some big bass there. Might go to balboa tomorrow too.

Yeah, the trout fishing is great when they stock. There are also some big bass there.

@@simpilotspud8296 When it is trout season they do it very regularly but I don't think they will stock again because the weather is warming up but there is still a chance.
@@fishingwithyoshi I probably caught it too late. but thanks for the advice. I'll fish for the bluegill and hopefully some carp there.
@@simpilotspud8296 In the spawn there are some HUGE BASS raging up to ten pounds. There are also tons of smaller bass and bluegill which are very fun to catch. There might still be trout from the last stock that was not to long ago.

@@lavish9494 You need a fishing license if you are 16 or older and you could get them at Big 5, Walmart, or at a local tackle shop. You need it to fish there and other lakes except piers at the ocean.
Might go to LA in January might check that out
I think it is currently closed but hopefully the open up by then. If so it will be a great time to go trout fishing because that is the time of year they usually stock echo.

lol. It is pretty hard to catch them after a long period of time when they stocked. The bass are going to spawn soon so the fishing is going to be great.

Do I need a fishing license ?
If you are 16 or older yes. You do not need one if you are fishing on a pier though.
