- Here are five restaurants to check out in Detroit in 2023 & 2024. Detroit may be known as the Motor City and Motown, but Detroit is home to fantastic food. You will find spectacular restaurants all over Detroit especially in Downtown, Midtown, Corktown, and New Center. These five restaurants are some of the best restaurants in my opinion to check out in Detroit in 2023 & 2024:
1. Baobab Fare - Located in New Center at Woodward and Grand Blvd, Baobab Fare is a highly-rated restaurant serving East African fare. I am joined by my niece, Alissa, to enjoy some of the best food in Detroit! We may have also bought some hot sauce too while we were there!
2. Seva Detroit - Located in Detroit's Midtown on Forest Ave near the VA Medical Center, Seva is a great spot for vegetarian and vegan food. There are so many great items to choose from which even omnivores like me will enjoy.
3. The Block - Located in Midtown along Woodward Ave, The Block is a highly-acclaimed restaurant which serves awesome food. I previously covered this restaurant in another video, but I return for some of their terrific salmon.
4. Treat Dreams - Although it started up in the suburb of Ferndale, Treat Dreams has a location in Midtown along Cass Ave across the street from Royale with Cheese. You will enjoy some fresh and tasty ice cream here!
5. The Hudson Cafe - Located in Downtown Detroit on Woodward Ave, The Hudson Cafe is one of the top spots in Detroit for brunch. You will find all kinds of tasty sweet and savory dishes here.
6. Grand Trunk Pub - Located in Downtown Detroit on Woodward Ave just south of Campus Martius Park, the Grand Trunk Pub is a great place for great pub fare while dining inside a historic building.

You have outdone yourself again Scottman! Thanks for this video! I'm planning on checking out some of these restaurants. Always looking for new places to try.
Thank you very much! I highly recommend checking out these places sometime. Thanks for watching!
Great video Scott. I’ve been to Grand Trunk, Seva , and the Block. Can’t wait to try Baobab.
Thank you! Baobab Fare is the best!
Great vid again Scottman! I know this focused closer to the city core, but I'd love your opinion of The Jamaican Pot out on Eight Mile Road sometime 🇯🇲
Thank you very much! I think I've heard of that place before. I'll have to check it out sometime!
Delicious! I ate pizza! Is there another freeway vid coming up?
Nice! I actually have another freeway video coming out this Thursday!
Bonjour Scottman. Great video buddy. I love Detroit...but I drive a Chevy Astrovan that's 30 years old. So...I can't drive my van from Flint, Michigan to Detroit anymore. It would be SO AWESOME IF THE DETROIT AREA HAD A TRAIN SYSTEM IN AND OUT OF DETROIT. It would be very beneficial for Detroit bars and restaurants...because noone wants to party in Detroit and then drive home intoxicated and arrested. I taught private electric guitar lessons in Chicago for 22 years...and their train system is awesome. I'm originally from Fenton, Michigan...
Please build some trains in Detroit...Scottman.
PEACE
Thank you very much, and you are absolutely right! The only train system which Michigan has is Amtrak, but that just mainly goes from Detroit west toward Chicago. There needs to be some kind of train system connecting the different cities like Detroit, Flint, Port Huron, Lansing, Saginaw, Grand Rapids, and Traverse City. There even needs to be better public transit in Metro Detroit too. I also would love to see some kind of express train connecting the airport with downtown Detroit too. Thanks for watching!

I guess you could say that despite being a depopulated city, Detroit has managed to have an increased variety of restaurants.
That's what I've noticed too. Even though the city population is much lower than it was many decades ago, some people have come back to the city or are at least coming down more to check out different things. As a result, many new restaurants continue to come in which is great to see.
@scottman895 Do you wonder if the lower rent compared to the big coastal cities makes a lot of the poorer immigrants choose Detroit in spite of the economy?
@@robertsitch1415 That could be a possibility, but I know that there are affordable places in other areas of the US which have a lot of jobs available with affordable rent.
@@scottman895 arguably, Ohio is a bit cheaper overall, and has seen some recent industrial expansion.
@@robertsitch1415 That is true. I remember hearing that Ohio is a little cheaper.
What do you think is every MLB teams worst season ever that they would love to forget?
I'm thinking
Arizona Diamondbacks - 2004
Atlanta Braves - 1935
Baltimore Orioles - 2018
Boston Red Sox - 1932
Chicago Cubs - 1966
Chicago White Sox - 1970
Cincinnati Reds - 1982
Cleveland Guardians - 1991
Colorado Rockies - 2023
Detroit Tigers - 2003
Houston Astros - 2013
Kansas City Royals - 2005
Los Angeles Angels - 1980
Los Angeles Dodgers - 1905
Miami Marlins - 1998
Milwaukee Brewers - 2002
Minnesota Twins - 1909
New York Mets - 1962
New York Yankees - 1908
Oakland Athletics - 1916
Philadelphia Phillies - 1941
Pittsburgh Pirates - 1890
San Diego Padres - 1969
San Francisco Giants - 1985
Seattle Mariners - 1978
St. Louis Cardinals - 1898
Tampa Bay Rays - 2002
Texas Rangers - 1963
Toronto Blue Jays - 1979
Washington Nationals - 1969
I'd have to get back to you on most of these, but these I know for sure are the worst for these teams:
Atlanta Braves - 1935
Baltimore Orioles - 2018
Detroit Tigers - 2003 (I remember that season very well personally)
New York Mets - 1962
Oakland Athletics - 1916
@@scottman895 and the Colorado Rockies 2023.
Detroit still exists? Man I'm out of the loop.
Yep! It's coming back!
@@scottman895 good to hear 🇺🇸
