Enjoy, hope you come back another time. Still lots to see, and lots to do. Michigan always gets the Passover. So hopefully you’ll come back.

In 1950, Detroit had a population of 1.8 million…. Today it is barely 600,000. Having 1.2 million people move out of your city will leave many vacant houses and lots. There are some neighborhoods that are empty for multiple blocks that have been completely abandoned by humans, a shocking number of neighborhoods like that. Sadly the results of losing 1.2 million residents is difficult to hide. At one time Detroit was one of if not the wealthiest city on the planet per capita, everyone had a great paying job. Those jobs are gone now.

👉 Just so you know, no one in Michigan calls it Belle Island. It's Belle Isle. Smalls is a goth industrial spot with bands playing there from time to time. As you mentioned, it's a great spot to get robbed. I also know someone in a band who got mugged there. One thing about Hamtramck, there's a bar on every other corner, even in the middle of residential neighborhoods. Glad you got to see the Packard plant. I went to a few Raves there back in the 90s. My band took photos inside the abandoned train station (1999) and it is amazing that they have been able to restore it. I really didn't think it could be saved. BTW, part of Transformers 3 was shot at the train station. You were right in Mexicantown. I hope you got to see it. So many amazing places to eat there. Lots more to see in Michigan outside of Detroit too. Hope you get the chance to venture out to other areas and if not, get in touch when you come back this way and I'll be happy to give you a tour. 👍

Rumor has it that McCafe's source is the old Tim's. Plus - on top of the better taste, McDonald's has better cups, lids and overall value.

As for Rosa Parks, a 20th century hero for sure, but Claudette Colvin did it before Parks and is still alive.

Weird...I live just 5 blocks from the Dresden address east and towards 7 mile. About the Burger Kings. A franchise owner shut down about 30 stores in and around Detroit last fall or so all at once. Something to do with the franchise contract.

Adam - enjoy your channel, especially the backroad adventures. While you are in Michigan, it would be great if you could have the opportunity to video the Mackinaw Island area, and some of the surrounding villages and lighthouses. Thanks

Actually Eminem has a debut album entitled, 'Infinite', released in 1996. No one ever mentions or acknowledges that album for some reason though. Then the Slim Shady LP in 1999, followed by the Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, and so on. So the 'My Name Is' album you were talking about - The Slim Shady LP - is actually Eminem's sophomore album of his discography, technically. Just a little FYI for Scott on Tape as well.

What a wonderful video! I couldn't stop watching.! I loved the Disney alley. How clever and unique. I'm surprised there aren't more tourists walking around back there admiring it with you. So cool. The Motown mansion, just WOW!! Maybe the owner will invite you guys in one day so we could see the pool house up close. It was beautiful to see the final resting places of Aretha Franklin and her family. I hope we don't see the great Dinah Ross there anytime soon. And God bless Rosa Parks for taking a stand that turned this country around. Detroit is an incredible city with so much history, they should all be proud. This video was so enjoyable, it just made my day! Adam, you and Scott make a great team. A job well done! Thank you to the best TH-camrs in the business!

@32:00 - The parking structure on the right side of the screen is where I would park to go to WSU in the 1990's. That whole area where United Sound is will be torn out to widen I-94.I used to work a block west of there, as well.

Great video of Detroit Adam! I really enjoyed your trip to the Gran Torino homes. In 2014 the home that Eastwood lived in in the movie went up for sale. It was on the news. They had an open house, so me and a friend of mine showed up. At that time of day we were the only two people there besides the sales agent. We combed every bit of that home inside and out and took a ton of pictures. It was surreal to have that home to myself for over an hour. I'm glad you enjoyed your time in Michigan.
