Nancy also recorded one of the best Bond themes, "You Only Live Twice", and a duet with her Father, "Something Stupid".
Oh wow!
I was 2😂
Still my all time favorite Bond theme.
And she sang bang bang
This came out in 1966 and was written by Lee Hazelwood. Brit you should watch the original video, you would love the boots. 😍 Jeanette, New Zealand
Lee Hazelwood was a great song writer and an amazing baritone as well! They put out an album in the sixties which was one of the few albums my family had that was not country and western. I think I played this album until it was worn out (I was about 10 years old).
I was working in a side project which was an indie band with this woman singer who had been in a lot of other bands and there was some overlap in any way we were talking about Nancy Sinatra and then we were working on a song and just trying stuff out and she said that my voice sounded like Lee Hazelwood on that one. I said who the hell is that? And she gave me a CD to listen to, and about the time I heard Phaedra with Nancy Sinatra I was just sold.
Nancy and Lee were both boss! I also like Hazelwood's Some Velvet Morning. ❤️ From Australia 🦘.
This happens a lot to her. She seems to catch the wrong versions but it's all still good. Maybe recommendations should come with links.
Britt definitely has a talent for selecting lesser quality performances, although the interview made this one more interesting than it otherwise would have been.
I wonder, if Britt now selects bad versions on purpose now, as sort of her trademark? I hope not. It's disappointing.
I’ve always seen her singing in Go-Go boots. 😊
She has a GREAT duet with Frank called 'Something Stupid'. Well worth checking out.
His friends used to joke and call it "the incest song"...but I think it's wonderful!
Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman did a cover of it one Xmas.
I always thought he sang that song with his wife (her name is also Nancy). Now I feel really weird knowing it was his daughter 😅
@@bandit_of_trash His friends used to kid him about 'The Incest Song'.
A lot of boots were sold because of that song...including for me! 😁
Me too! White boots 😂
Go go boots!😊
Too much talking , not enough listening to the song.
Geez- the name of the channel is Britt Reacts, not “Britt Listens Passively!” You didn’t understand the assignment!
The original version of the song, "Bang Bang ", was written by Sonny Bono & released by Cher in 1966. It was covered by Nancy Sinatra in the same year.
People seem to have forgotten what a talented songwriter Sonny Bono was...
@@markmyers6472 I love Needles and Pins
Back in those days immigrants assimilated. My mom was German and didn't teach us to speak her language. Just the way it was.
What a shame, once you’ve learnt one additional language it’s far easier to learn other languages.
@@ffotograffydd not saying I'm happy about it. Wish I spoke it. Back then Italian, German, and other European immigrants wanted to be seen as Americans. Right, or wrong , that's the way it was. Not in every case. My cousins in Illinois all speak German.
My grandparents were Czechoslovakian and only spoke Slovak to my mom when she was little. Then when she started school it was hard for her. Because she couldn't speak English. Maybe a few words. But, she didn't understand anyone. She was born in 1924.
@@ffotograffydd It is...I grew up speaking Polish, but unfortunately, my father was SO adamant that only Polish was to be spoken at home, and gave me so many guilt trips every time I lapsed into English (which became easier for me by the time I got to be about 10 years old) that I developed a real resentment toward the Polish language. When I moved out, got married, had kids, etc, Polish got put even further on the back burner, and I was no longer as fluent in it as I once was, and was not comfortable using it exclusively when raising my kids, which I really would have had to do to really give them the basis for speaking it themselves. They are all in their thirties now, and all wish I had taught them, but it just didn't work out, and now I regret it, but also still regret the fact that my father's attitude left me with such resentment toward it. If it's important to you that you impart some particular knowledge to your children, please try to give them the sense of joy in learning rather than guilt tripping them into following a monolithic regime based on what is important to YOU.
Actually, Italian immigrants "back in those days" did not assimilate much at all. My grandparents lived in this country for more than 60 years and spoke no English and never became citizens. They were normal for my Brooklyn neighborhood. No need for English.
This wasn't the official video. Now THAT is worth watching for sure. Love this song so much! Great reaction.
Britt, after this came out Nancy went with the USO in 1966 & 67 to Vietnam to perform for the troops. The soldiers adopted the song because they knew about boots and walking (marching).
Fun fact: Frank recorded a song when Nancy was born called Nancy with the Laughing Face.
There's another video of her doing this on, I think the Dean Martin show, in color with backup dancers.
And there's a father-daughter duet titled "Something Stupid".
Another great song of Nancy Sinatra's is "You Only Live Twice"; written for the James Bond movie of the same name. It was memorably used in the first Austin Powers movie; when you first see The Fem-Bots.
Laughing my ass off do that reaction. Yeah that was a different time for sure, but I think you would get a kick out of the original video that went with this hit, she's got these really tall white boots and it's just so iconic but honestly she still kind of had the same restrained energy but it was that kind of Marilyn Monroe slight sexy gesture thing that's hard to understand in modern times.
Yeah she got some power. When your dad is chairman of the board..AKA MOB. You can walk with a little swagger 😂
Frank's Mob ties were a myth. Rat Pack was his gang.
Don't think he was COB of THE Mob, but he supposedly had strong connections many established during his rise to singing nobility. The mob had their fingers in lots of pots including entertainment - especially early days of Las Vegas and small nightclubs.
@@auapplemac2441 yes but that's how he got that name his strong ties to the mob. My father n law that was one of Hoffa's first recruits to build the teamsters told me people gave frank the up most respect as they would have the head guy and was terrified of him. You can see it when dean martin and Sammy Davis was around frank they would pick with him but not on him. But frank roasted both of them hard..
Sicily is the big island just off the toe of the boot, Genoa is in the northwest part of Italy on the coast, and neapolitan means people from Naples which is on the mid/southwest coast of Italy.
I think this was released in 1966. I was 5 years old and I still remember it.
Talk about a flash from the past! LOL I was the first girl at my school (Jr. High in middle Mississippi) to have a pair of white Go Go Boots. I know seven girls went home telling their mothers that they HAD to get a pair. It was an hour and a half to Jackson ... the only place close enough that had any! The next day they were all wearing them! What a great time it was to be alive and young!!!!!
The writer of the song was Lee Hazelwood. Nancy did an album with him and two songs worth listening to from it, were "Jackson" and "Summer Wine".
She sang Your Groovy Self in Speedway when she costarred with Elvis. I liked that movie both did a great job Elvis and Bill Bixby together very funny.
She & Lee Hazelwood released an album in '68, called, unsurprisingly, 'Nancy & Lee'.Several tracks off of it that I think you might like are: "Summer Wine", "Some Velvet Morning", & "I've Been Down So Long ( It Seems Like Up To Me)". Lee had ( passed in '07) a very distinctively deep voice that played well off of Nancy's almost child-like voice.
Yes...great album.
This song was used in the 1987 movie "Full Metal Jacket". I enjoy your TH-cam channel and you have a very beautiful voice.
No flirting. Leave her beauty alone. I saw her first.😄😃😀👀
A compliment not a flirt. She's to young and to married for this old geezer... lol
I was 12 when this song was released and I had a 45 record player. I use to put my white gogo boots on and dance to this over and over! 😁
Wish you had found her video for this one. It's cute & she is sassier in it with backup dancers & Go Go boots. It's fun. This is a live performance in a small setting. Also, check out her duet with her Daddy, 'Something stupid'. It's great. Also, her brother Frank Jr. Sounds very much like his dad.
She co stared with Elvis Presley in a movie called (speedway) and she performed this song in the movie.
She sang a similar song called "Your Groovy Self".
Fun reactions as always. Sorry you didn’t use the original music video, though - the colors, costumes and choreography are great. th-cam.com/video/GM1kzbAgo_E/w-d-xo.html
The bass player is Chuck Berghofer.... he Played on Angelina's Christmas Album
I loved the use of this song in Full Metal Jacket.
Yeah, she hit it big around '66. (I was in high school then.) Had 4 songs on the charts at the same time. Duet with Frank, duet with Lee Hazelwood, and two solos. Plus, she starred in a motorcycle gang movie with peter Fonda.
Wrecking Crew goodness on the album cut. Some of LA's finest 60's musicians.
Chuck Beghofer on the upright bass descending run.
You should have done the video with her dancing with the boots ????
Frank was a 1st generation American born to Italian Immigrants. I'm actually surprised she didn't know Italian. It seems like she understands it but doesn't speak it here. Which makes sense for a 2nd generation American. 😊
Why do you find all of the videos nobody has ever seen...
She did a James bond theme song for the movie,"You Only Live Twice". Song of the same title.
1:11 she’s a Sinatra. I would suppose. 🤷🏻♀️
Not the right video!!! 😮
What's wrong with it?
There is a different video in color that she has go-go dancers dancing! Check it out.
DJs have started playing this song at weddings a few years back...everyone gets on the dance floor for this one!
Great Reaction Britt! I read that Nancy Sinatra actually picked up Elvis at the airport after he finished his duties in the Army! She said Elvis was a very funny person but also talked about serious issues! When she picked him up he had her laughing so hard! Then that night he called her about the Ghetto and his concern about the people who lived there!
Elvis and Nancy were making a movie called Speedway! 🙏🏻
The best Bass line I ever heard. It sound simple, but it's difficult to get right, I tried when I was trying to teach myself Bass Guitar. Great job Britt.
Some friends of mine, at the time a band called "Git Gone" covered the song, with the lead sung by Sharon Ward playing standup bass.
A year later (1967) she sang the title track for the James Bond film You Only Live Twice.
Nancy Sinatra and Elvis had a "thing" going on while they filmed the movie "Speedway". They also performed the song "There Ain't Nothing Like A Song" together in the movie.
The lyrics of the song "Nancy (with the laughing face)" were written about her when she was about 2 years old. Incidently, Nancy was also the name of her mother and Frank's first wife.
Here's four Nancy Sinatra hits that you'll really like: 1) Some Velvet Evening 2) Sugar Town 3) Lady Bird 4) Summerwine. Enjoy!
I just realized that the Fembots were wearing Nancy Sinatra hairdos.
You should definitely listen to her duet with her dad. It's a classic called Somethin´ Stupid, which was a hit in 1967. It was the first and only instance of a father-daughter number-one song in America.
If you can't be honest with the person you claim to love....then you don't love them and don't deserve them.
You really should watch the official video. Not only is it in color, but it's just a better performance.
There is a performance that's better than this one that people always use to react to.
It's in colour.her and some backing dancers all with barely covering their bum tops, tights and boots.
I DEFINITELY SAY THIS WITH ALDUE RESPECT THERE'S AN OLD SAYING THAT APPLIES TO YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE THAT BEAUTIFUL AIN'T NO MAN EVER GONNA KICK YOU OUTTA BED FOR EATING CRACKERS THAT'S FOR DANG SURE ❤
First of all, the name of the song is "These boots are made for walking". It is not "These sneakers are made for walking" right? And not only that, if you listen to the words of the song, it does not say that when she is fed up with his BS she was going to walk away in her sneakers or her boots that she was wearing. Her words say that one day, someday she was going to introduce homie to the receiving end of her boots again, again, and again. Period. Goodnight.
This is teaching chicks to bail on their man! Don't worry... the Government is save you.
Check her out performing live with Ray Charles, that is a real treat.
One of my all time favorites. So cheesy it's cool 🤩
Wrong video. The official video is much better!
Never had the chance to see any Sinatra live, but listening to this brings back memories of a 4th grade teacher who used a lot of songs from the 40's 50s, 60s and 70s and printout the lyrics for english lessons, great way to learn a foreign language and cultural icons at the same time. 👍
A few years later I had another one teaching us about Canadian history with the lyrics from French-canadian artists and opposing it with English ones of the same era to show the disparity between cultures and the influence it had on politic. The facts most people we're not well educated lead to a lot of misundertanding and tension between the provinces, and how our nation changed quicker once we got National radio and TV with translated news coming from other places. Good stuff thanks for the memory!
Check out the video, its a lot more playful and sassy! You'll love it!
I loved Nancy Sinatra. I was excited one Christmas when I got one of her albums. Grew up in the era. Love, love it!!
I got the one with this song on it when I was ten!!! I was so excited!!
Hey Britt. A little FYI. Nancy Sinatra and Elvis Presley made a movie together.
You have to listen to Nancy and Frank Sinatra singing "Something stupid." Great song, well sung (of course) and very moody.
Ha! When this song was released I was ten years old and in the hospital in Chicago recovering from appendicitis. My dad brought me a little transistor radio to listen to, and this song was all over the radio. I got sick of it actually LOL.
Nancy Sinatra was good friends with Elvis
I think you're correct in the Austin powers with the femm bots
She sang the first song to the Kill Bill soundtrack
The boots are supposed to be white, I had a pair just like them. Lol
"Questi stivali sono fatti per camminare". Too much fun.
Nancy is wonderful and such a good singer!
This song was written by Hazelwood, ha! ... thanks for reacting - and I really like the way you sang along! :) Great reaction! *thumbs_up
If you're a fan of Nancy, and a fan of Elvis, you need to watch "Speedway", she was the love interest in that particular Elvis movie. I wouldn't be surprised if she knew Italian, she has that much Italian background, also considering it was Dean Martins 1st language. I'm sure she spent some time around "Uncle Dean".
Phaedra, her duet with Lee Hazelwood is a MUST.
Jessica Simpson did a cover of this for the movie Dukes of Hazzard. The video is quite memorable....
I love ypur reactions, and this one is such a great fun song anywsys and youre reactions was cute & dead on ! Keep havi g fun .
Got my first hot pants and go go boots in the 60’s after this song.
I remember seeing Frank Sinatra Jr. His son on Adam-12. Never seen him acting in anything else. I think it was meant to be a pilot for aa new series. But, didn't as far as I know. I guess he had one other daughter. Tina. I remember hearing this song on the car radio when I was a little kid in the early 60s. That and Petula Clark singing "Down Town". And I remember having some Go-Go boots like that when I was a kid too.
I've always loved this song. You should watch the official video--it's surprisingly good.
Frank and Nancy did a duet called "Something Stupid" which was a nice little pop song but I always felt it had a bit of a creep factor. I.e. Fathers and daughters aren't supposed to be singing love songs to each other. (apropos of nothing)
This song has only been licensed for every Vietnam movie ever!
Sorry my memories are fading, but the man who played the stand up bass is also the man who played on Angelina’s Christmas special three years ago.
This song became the anthem for the feminist movement which began not long after the release of this record in 1966.
Written by country star Lee Hazelwood, “These Boots Are Made for Walkin'” was first made into a hit by Nancy Sinatra (daughter of singer, Frank Sinatra). It hit the charts on January 22, 1966 after a release in December of 1965, and peaked at No. 1 in the U.S. and U.K. While the song was made famous by Nancy, Hazlewood said the writing of the tune was inspired by a line Frank said in the comedy western, 4 for Texas, in 1963. The line was, “They tell me them boots ain’t built for walkin’.” Writing the song, Hazlewood wanted to record it himself. He even said that “it’s not really a girl’s song.” But Nancy talked him out of it, saying, “Coming from a guy, it was harsh and abusive, but was perfect for a little girl to sing.” Hazlewood, perhaps receiving an offer he couldn’t refuse, eventually agreed.
In the song, the boots are made for walking. They're made for walking out on no good, cheating men and they're good, furthermore, for walking on their hearts before the head out the door. The track appeared on Nancy's 1966 album, Boots. It was a follow-up to her popular tune, “So Long, Babe.”
I think the song "Hit the Road, Jack" was released around the same time. Possibly people underestimate how many women with significant self-confidence were increasingly appearing during the 1960ies already.
Bang Bang was Cher's song. Nancy covered it. Check out her duet with her dad, "Something Stupid." (Don't be fooled by the version on TH-cam with her singing with Frank's son Frank Sinatra, Jr. (Jr. did not get his father's gifts.)
your hair look lovely in this video
One of the first feminist anthems.
I remember hearing this song as a young girl. Nancy also had some other hits such as "Sugartown", "Bang Bang" & "Somethin' Stupid" a duet with her dad Frank Sinatra. Nancy recorded the title song from the James Bond movie "You Only Live Twice" in 1967. She also starred with Elvis Presley in "Speedway" in 1968. Nancy did a few collaborations with Lee Hazelwood including the songs "Summer Wine", "Jackson" & "Some Velvet Morning".
I feel like "Bang Bang" was used in Kill Bill or some other Tarantino movie.
Phaedra
Watching Brit Reacts is like watching a granddaughter gushing, "You had such great music back then, Granddad!" After she goes through my record collection two dozen times, I wanna say, "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You've said that. Play them in your room." (I'm saying that in the nicest way.) :) (Love your closet studio.)
Hey Britt, I just want to say that I love how open minded you are in regards to listening to so many different genres and decades of music, along with some fun tv clips. I love how you think of what is appropriate and inspirational to your kids. I did that with mine also, although they’re now in college.Time flies! Enjoy them because it goes so fast! Blessings to you and yours…from one mom to another. ❤
Angelina Jordan has also performed These Boots Are Made For Walkin': th-cam.com/video/hZCQzHZk-_w/w-d-xo.html
Best cover (although short) is by Chiwetel Ejiofor as Lola in the 2005 film "Kinky Boots":

I love your reaction to this , I love this song have a great day Britt.
If you have ever watched the Italian Mafia movie THE GODFATHER the popular singer "Johnny Fontane" who was also the god-son of the Mafia boss and who wanted movie fame, was RUMOURED to be based on Frank Sinatra, he was "connected". The head of the movie studio was made an "offer" and Frank... sorry, I mean "Johnny" was suddenly a movie star. The line from the book/movie "I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse" lives on in infamy.
Reaction videos? 🤦♀️🤦♀️. Says everything you need to know about humans.
You WOULD THINK with the background she announced with her family history and all.... she could AT LEAST have simple conversation. I'm kind of embarrassed for her family. Does 'coming to america" mean that you lose your language too> JS.
...that's easy for HIM to say! Nancy had a number of hits in the mid-sixties to early seventies, including a well-known duet with her father called SOMETHING STUPID. Although many consider BOOTS her trademark song, many more would say her YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE for the 007 Bond film of the same title (1967), was one of her very best, as well as one of the very best theme songs for that movie franchise. Usually she performed BOOTS onstage with mini skirt (or Hot Pants) and Go-Go boots, and was a lot sassier! The Italian TV codes were probably stricter than US. codes, and Italian men very chauvinistic. AUSTIN POWERS is the only film I recall BOOTS was played in.
Some more 1 hit wonders you need to listen to are;
Bobby Day "Rockin Robin"
J. Frank Wilson "Last Kiss"
Little Eva " The Locomotion"
👍❤ Check Kinky Boots 2005, with Chiwetel Ejiofor & Joel Edgerton: The Runway Scene features this song in a Kicks Kick-Arse medley! Brilliant!
Britt. I'm sorry you didn't grow up in the era of Frank, Dean, Sammy, Bing, et al. Nancy, Leslie Gore, an tons of other exceptionally talented artists. You are in the proverbial drop in the bucket.
You keep stopping way too much and talking over the lyrics!
It’s not a movie theater!
She has no filter. In brain, out mouth.
It’s a reaction video… she’s reacting! 😂
It’s called BrittREACTS 😂
Britt has her own style and it’s pretty damn popular. If it’s not your thing, move on.
Now for the constructive criticism. I don’t care how many times she wants to stop and discuss, but please rewind a bit (Every Time) when you restart.
She doesn't say that she is going to take "these boots" & walk OUT the door. She says that she is going to take "these boots" & walk ALL OVER YOU. She may be saying it in a quiet way, but it is a threat.
(She IS Frank Sinatra's daughter after all - mafia connection in the family - not Frank HIMSELF that I know of.)
People who brag & get loud are trying to CONVINCE others (& sometimes themselves) of something. Nancy Sinatra does NOT need to brag over her ability to "walk ALL OVER you." - Just sayin'
(I didn't see this video that clearly, but you should see her boot movements in some of her videos of this song. It's a threat.)
I loved your expressions of "understanding" during the interview! 😉🤩
WORST VERSION EVER!!!🤮
The boots were called Go-Go Boots. Mini skirts and dresses at that time were ALWAYS worn with panty hose or tights. No bare legs. Her hairstyle was called a “Flip”.
th-cam.com/video/SbyAZQ45uww/w-d-xo.html
I recommend the song "Harper Valley PTA" by Jeannie C. Riley. If you like this song, I will love that song!
