The government can reduced to six months if they want. Still, if you do not obtain a sponsor, which is a pretty difficult requirement, you do not have anything, and it is even worse nowadays when more people are applying for one job than ever before. Unemployment is increasing in Australia, and it is even worse when you see many times that they ask for people with PR or Citizens to apply for their jobs. Not many employers want to sponsor; they ask on their applications if you will require it in the future because they DO NOT WANT TO SPONSOR. Getting a sponsor is not easy at all in Australia, even in regional areas.
