When I was there on holidays recently I found out I get at least $15 an hour more in my industry in Australia, plus the food is a lot more expensive in NZ so there is no way I would move there even though I love it and could move with no visa due to being Australian. I’m an early childhood educator. Plus all the Kiwis over here say it’s not financially viable for them to live in their own country because wages are so much higher in Australia and cost of living lower here, increase your wages and your own residents would return is my advice.

Definitively need skilled immigrants. Also, we want immigrants who want to integrate and embrace the New Zealand culture.

Thank you for this video! I have been watching all of your videos. I'm a nurse in Washington state in the United States looking to move my family to New Zealand. My biggest concern is I have a chronic autoimmune disease, Crohn's disease, and as I'm getting ready to pay the big chunks of money to start our visas, I'm very worried about getting denied based on medical admissibility. I saw the video of the gentleman with diabetes, do you know of anyone else who has a more serious disease that was able to get a medical waiver? And if having jobs that are on the green list (my husband and I) would help at all in that matter?

Speaking to recent immigrants from home here in Perth,it was all down to the insanely high prices back home. No other reason, the WA govt here ,are offering tradies from home,$10K to move here.
The problem wirh that, there isn't enough housing to accommodate these people, if you're thinking of moving here, try and secure a place before moving. Its not that easy.

The issue is salaries and cost of living in NZ are not competitive. Makes no sense for an Ausi or Kiwi to come/return to NZ. Builders and tradies in huge demand in Aus etc, and in past 10 years cost of living in NZ has become terrible and house prices and low salaries make it really hard to go to NZ.

I don’t understand how bringing older people into the country and putting our resources under constraint is a good thing. I know it was stated it would be a higher visa price but that’s shocking that this govt would do this. 😳

So my husband was a tradesperson overseasas a manager, and we thought things would be easy in NZ. Then we found it difficult to get licensed, including the time needed and terrible pay during apprenticeship. He had not much choice but to then change his career, which is definitely not a win-win situation here

My family is looking at migration from the USA- we are both registered nurses. It’s hard because we have never been, but in Australia they do have higher wages and a lower cost of living because of the isolation and need for imports. However, we’ve heard great things about the social and environmental factors in NZ. If the immigration process is easier in NZ, we will definitely keep it in mind.

The comments regarding money and not being able to afford to live in New Zealand bemuse me.
I am a true blue Kiwi born and bread. Not overly educated but have made a wonderful living in this country and continue to do so on the retirement benefit. Thank you Brian and Liz for your wonderful vlog’s and yes the brain drain has always been with us as so aptly described. So to those people that knock New Zealand’s economy and make comments about money and cost of living, please have a serious rethink.

How is home ownership? Because the things that made it easy for you might not be so easy for the younger generation. Cost of living and real estate costs specifically vs income has been stagnant in many nations.
If NZ can somehow control the cost of owning a home, they have a real chance of attracting disenfranchised aussies who are sick of fighting for a place to lay their heads.

@@chrystalb1862 Not sure I understand what you are getting at, however I can tell you that whilst people say times are tougher now than in my day, I can assure you they weren't. Attitudes have changed, people want more now, like materialistic things rather than important priority items. We could go on forever discussing this issue but at the end of the day there a great percentage of average people doing well in this country and the knockers are the ones that will moan no mater what their circumstances are or where they are.

NZ should institute a "Come Back Home" initiative to attract Kiwis who left or are the children of Kiwis who left to encourage them to come back. A good number of those who left might be well motivated to come home, given the Climate Catastrophe on the way, along with deteriorating political realities. NZ also has to start paying proper pay for work done. Also, New Zealand is not at the "bottom of the world." It is at the top, or anywhere you want...the world is a globe with no top or bottom.

The people you will find on this channel are professionals. Not Uber drivers. My Wife is a teacher, I currently work for the Police in the UK, I also have qualifications in IT and I have a full Truck licence. Qualified skilled people is who this is aimed at. It’s actually really expensive and difficult now to enter New Zealand, by the time we arrive it will be about 4 years in the making. I’m not sure exactly how non skilled migrants made it through, clearly the old system was easier to navigate or maybe they married into the country I don’t know. Surely it’s now hitting them hard with the high living costs. It’s not as though New Zealand has the same issue the UK does with illegal migration. We aren’t coming to steal your jobs, live off the state, use the healthcare for free, force our way of life onto New Zealand. We’re coming to contribute in areas where New Zealand need people and to give our kids a better life. Who will then be New Zealand’s next generation.
I’ve rabbited on, my point is don’t tar all migrants with the same brush. It will just turn into hate and trust me coming from a country that’s full of it, it’s not good. Also I vape so I need a good vape store 😂

Unsure why the novel length retort. Our youth btw, need more vape and liquor outlets like a hole in the head. A topic I take very seriously, but one you obviously don't. As a resident in NZ, I can see the harm they do and the fact that they now seem to be head to head with the number of cafes in every town, is just another blot on every councils reputation here.
