Another knight of the roundtable, Vyke, seems to be an interesting character also. Some item descriptions say he was closer to the throne of Elden Lord than any other but was lured to the three fingers below the capital by either his maiden or some other mysterious force, probably the dragon Lansseax
That other force was Shabriri. He can be found in the mountaintops of the giants having taken over the body of Bloody Finger Hunter Yura. He encourages us to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame to save our maiden. Lannsseax can be found outside Stormcaller Church in Altus Plateau. (And if youre a Darksouls Fan, Vyke seems like a mix of Oscar and Ornstein.) Vyke and Godwyn, Lanssenax and Fortissax, together the four of them founded the Dragon Cult. Vyke and Lannsenax were an item. Godwyn and Fortissax were as well. (Both Vykes dragonbolt and the dragonbolt spell say to survive the spell a dragon must love you) And Fortisax is also Fia, the deathbed companion. Also that means Godwyns best friend Vyke, was totally gonna bang his mom.
@@darkhobo It says “loved by dragons,” but that doesn’t necessarily mean romantic love. Could just mean a dragon considers you a friend worth possessing such power. What makes you think Fia is Fortissax? Fortissax has been with Godwyn trying to prevent his death curse from growing worse, which corrupted HIM IIRC. Lansseax is the sister. (Sorry if I spelled their names wrong).
@@blackhat4206 because when we enter Fia's dream we fight Fortisax, and after we we come out Fia is dead. Yeah it might not be romantic. Seems romantic to me. These events are highly ambiguous and can be read multiple ways. This is how I see it though. And you want some crazy stuff? Fia said she learned to be a deathbed companion from her homeland. I just said she is a dragon. Okay. You know Elder Dragon Greyroll. The gigantic one in Caelid just lying there we all use bleed to kill? The intended way is by beating the dragons guarding her. When they die, she dies automatically. Like, they were keeping her alive... Exactly what I propose Fia was doing. Just saying
@@darkhobo Interesting take. It is said that Lansseax took human form to run the dragon cult, and loved Vyke. Although, I would be surprised if the male Fortissax took on a human female form. Fia seemed like a separate distinct character to me because it is said Fortissax never left Godwyn’s side, but Fia isn’t with Godwyn when we meet her since she travels there much later. I thought she was just a Godwyn (Those Who Live in Death/Prince of Death) fanatic, but maybe Fortissax grew to love Godwyn in a romantic sense and became Fia, though it is stated they were “friends” specifically. It’s possible, though. The F in their names, and Fia’s black clothes match Fortissax’s black color due to death blight, so that might also point to your theory.
My initial theory was that Roundtable Hold is fortified manor from a different time. I wouldn't call it time travel per say, but more of an echo of what it once was, not what it is today, and that it is called fortified manor in the overworld because it has since been forgotten what it once was. Although I absolutely love the idea that Roundtable Hold is within the Erd tree. So poetic that the place you are trying to get into is the place you come through hundreds of times before.
I imagined that Roundtable Hold is the same place in both areas, but some serious magic, somehow related with the tree makes it existing in different dimension as a printscreen of a real place. It may be deep underground too. Some safe place, hidden maybe to hide two fingers, hidden because od a war
I always assumed it was, in terms of its nature, the Evergaol of the Fortified Manor, except.. with the gaol part inverted to keep people out rather than in.
Another fantastic video, Zoe If you were looking for any more ideas for more lore videos (although apologies if they're already planned/in the works and this is just parroting) it could be cool to explore some the different npcs we meet at the Roundtable Hold when we first arrive, or who arrive soon after like Diallos, Nephali and Roderika. Or Fia and the Deathbed Companions and what goes on with D. Or Boc the demi-human (bless him). Or maybe Gurranq the Beast Clergyman. Any which way, can't wait for more of these videos!
The fact that Marika wanted a weapon that could slay a god is interesting. I don't think it was just meant to be a punishment, not with how many strings she seems to have been pulling. She may not have had a shred of sympathy for Hewg (or really anyone for that matter), but I don't think she's the kind of person to set a task without actually wanting to see it accomplished. I don't see Marika as a petty, self-obsessed ruler like Gwyn was in Dark Souls. She's an unparalleled puppet-master, and I think that makes her the scarier (and more interesting) of the two.
Gwyn may have broken the world to satisfy his ego, but Marika played 5-dimensional chess and outsmarted an Outer God, all the while hiding her intentions from everyone in The Lands Between. Even Radagon and the Elden Beast, who shared a physical body with her, seemingly had no idea until it was too late. Gwyn was heartless; Marika is ruthless.
I think you are definitely on to something there. (Spoilers for most of the game ahead) There are three cases i can think of in which Marika hands out punishments/curses like this (Hewgs task, Cursing the giant to tend the flame of ruin and taking grace away from the tarnished) and all of them directly lead to the burning of the Erdtree and subsequently the death of the Elden Beast, which removes the Greater Wills influence from the Lands Between. I think its pretty safe to say that she was plotting this well before the shattering or the night of black knives and basically everything that happens in the game is Marikas master plan coming to fruition.
Zoe, I love this series. I've always bern super interested in the lore and story of Fromsoft games but I've never played them myself abd likely never will because they aren't the kind of games that I like so having this kind of stuff is really nice and you do a great job explaining the lore of the game. Also, you can tell you enjoy making these videos.
Zoe Light; Superstar content creator. Elden Ring has an excellent community, but you guys stand out. So many interesting characters at the round table. It was kinda surreal to see the 2 fingers for the first time.
Spoiler inc In my opinion, the fortified mannor is the actual roundtable (i mean the "present" roundtable) wich have fall, and the teleport roundtable is the past roundtable where every tarnished are sent, this one show the power of the 2 fingers. Aldrich body, blacksmith hammer, the 2 fingers gift where they should be... After we accomplished the quest of all npc (where they all die or vanish) we can see that it became really empty. That also mean that every tarnished can teleport, cause this is the only way to go there. Maybe we'll know more about it later I'm not an english speaker so I hope that text wasn't horrible to read ;)
Hey Zoe, I’m loving the lore series so far 😊 Have you thought about doing a lore video over some of the more interesting non-boss enemies? The first ones that pop to mind are the freaky t-Rex dogs and crows in Caelid. Lol
Thank you for another awesome Elden Ring lore video Zoe :). Would it be possible to dig up more lore on the Giants and Dragons of the lands between? I'm curious as to how much of an impact they had/have in this fantasy world 🤔. Hope folks are doing ok and having a lovely day 😊. What other games are other people playing atm ? . I'm getting back into playing Tales or Arise and my second playthrough of Elden Ring .
I love these lore videos you are so good! I do however think that Hewg is a misbegotten not an omen. His leg and foot structure is more digitgrade while the omens have a flat footed plantigrade stance. Plus Hewg is a similar size to a misbegotten and has similar scaly bony structures. I get the horns similarity but the misbegotten have those too.
I like to think its not where but when. Roundtable hold is a rememberance of the fortified manor and you are living inside it. Killing is forbidden because it would mess up the timeline. Gideon is all knowing because he is in a place outside of time
Counterpoint, but spoilers ahead. Gideon sics Ensha onto the protagonist when they return to the Roundtable with one of the Haligtree medallions. He has no qualms with breaking the basic Roundtable guidelines if the circumstances are opportunistic enough. Additionally, if Ofnir did believe that dying inside the Roundtable would mess with the flow of time, he would most likely have Nepheli guarding the entrance to the foyer balcony to keep members from dying to the snapshot of Alberich. For reference, for the little time she's in the Roundtable, she stands next to a card table outside of his office.
Why is the dung eater in two places at once? He's in roundtable hold but also in a jail cell in the sewers. Is his spirit in roundtable hold and his body in the jail? He tells you to free his corporeal flesh.
This is pure speculation based on very little evidence but there are a few cases where Erdtree Avatars literally spawn in front of your eyes before the fight. This combined with their name and appearance makes me think that they are quite literally avatars of the Erdtree and that the tree/greater will creates for the purpose of defending the Erdtree (like the one in Leyndell) or minor Erdtrees (almost every other one). The one found in Elphael has me pretty confused and I haven't read a single item description that mentions them so i could very well be wrong.

you should do one on the dragons
Hewg isn't an Omen. He's a Scally Misbegotten. Unless - there are reasons to believe he wasn't that in the past, and his body is a part of the curse.
Ah that makes sense! Thanks for the clarification. Zoe

Dragon Lord Placidussax's arena is his version of Roundtable Hold.
'Two Fingers' is also a cheap brand of Tequila. Not saying it's related, but it does give a person a fortified manner.

The big grace site in Round Table Hold is actually a fake. They hid a normal sized Grace Site under the table, below the floor.

The RoundTable Hold is either in the past or a different world.
It's connected to the Erdtree 100%. It literally burns at the same time you start burning the Erdtree.
