@@rbraunbeck96 Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel in Marvel Comics who died of cancer in the 70's and remained dead ever since. This game introduced me to Carol Danvers and I somewhat liked her and I hoped like Iron Man, she and the rest of the characters I've never seen before would rise to fame, well in Carol's case she rose to infamy :(
The N7 Spartan 111 I liked Carol when she was Ms. Marvel (Warbird). She was pretty cool back then. Not the shitty feminist one we have in the MCU with Brie Larson.
@@XxHUNT3RN4T0RxX Now, you DO get that Carol Danvers was always a feminist hero, right? Why do you think they called her MS. Marvel instead of Miss Marvel? Hell, her 70s comics had a subplot about her working at a feminist newspaper and her arguing with Jolly J. Jonah himself to get equal pay for the Daily Bugle's women employees. To claim that Carol was never about feminism is like saying the X-Men aren't about civil rights. It's kinda baked into the character.
I'm seeing some confusion when it comes to the version differences, so I'll add what I know. Hulk is available in the DLC, you have to buy a Gold Edition disc to get it, you can transfer saves from standard to Gold if you got the wrong version, and I haven't tried it on PS4, but the XB1 release is *terrible* port
Spider-Man: *"HEY EVERYONE, ICE-MAN IS FUCKING GAY!"* *"You ever considered hooking up with mystique again since she can just be a guy?"* My gawd I died laughing xD
Ronin Kain Because its easier to change the race, genre, sexuality of a WELL ESTABLISHED CHARACTER, rather than just make a new one....or IDK USE THE ACTUAL GAY CHRACTERS!!! Fucking marvel
What's said is I'm okay with Iceman's being gay but the way Bendis did it was so lazy. Jean read Bobby's mind and just said: "Dude, you're gay." Pretty shoddy writing and I usually love his work.
ironmaster64 it’s worth mentioning that most characters that are already gay have the stigma of being the “token gay character”, who are only defined by their sexuality and not their character. Taking a pre established character and retroactively changing their sexuality is a smart way to send the message the their sexuality truly doesn’t matter. The way it was handled with Ice Man was trash tho. Bendis is so good with his books, it’s really jarring he did it that way.
Dude I didn't even know if that SFM stuff was actually just a cutscene from the game or not! I was trying to figure it out! The animator did fucking great on it wonderful work. Of course wonderful work to you too you loveable ginger/redheaded nerd that lives in my subscription feed
6:58 this was the second time Deadpool was voiced in games. He first appeared in X-Men Legends 2, voiced by John Kassir. John would then continue to be the voice of Deadpool in MUA 1 and 2.
I can’t stand how Ultimate Alliance 3 has every Avenger resemble their MCU counterparts. Stop doing it, I know their costumes are cool, but think outside the box for once!
It drives me nuts how much “brand synergy” has stifled creativity when it comes to Marvel adaptations. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes had to be prematurely canceled because it wasn’t acting enough like a commercial for the specific movies coming out at that time.
The eeriest thing about this video is that I actually started playing MUA again not 2 days ago just because I was pining to experience this great age again. It'll be a long time before we're able to get an X-man, Spider-man, and two founding Avengers together to stop a Fantastic 4 villain again thanks to the corporation climate today. Also this game introduced me to Deadpool too. I thought he was the coolest before he got lol-XD-so random'd
JessFM I know, I can't remember where it is though. I remember also reading one where a scrawny guy finds Mjolnir and becomes Thor. Godammit you just reminded me of possibly valuable comics I had as a kid XD
If someone hasn't already mentioned it: the designers wanted to put the Hulk in as a playable character but didn't have the licensing rights to do so at the time. And then they acquired those rights when publishing the DLC for the Xbox 360. Why it was exclusive to the XBox 360 (maybe an agreement with Microsoft, but then why not the PC version??), I honestly don't know.
Am I the only one who noticed that cap was wearing his ultimate costume and deadpool wore the ultimate costume when he first talked to black widow and the Samuel Jackson fury is actually the ultimate universe nick fury
@REDCLOAKCOVENAT BBC sure, the no wise cracking organic webbed spidey is the most "accurate" depiction. You're just like Tom Holland fanbois except for Tobey Maguire instead.
Everything you said from 15:04 and then on I agreed with 100%. I was just actually explaining to my dad how marvel simply hasn’t been the same for the past few years, and how MUA taught me a lot and gave me my perspective of the marvel universe. Good Review, underrated game. Hopefully the next installment in the next year will do justice the the good old days of marvel.
Darn it Xavier, that ending monologue about how they don't make them like that anymore literally made me tear up and what got me into your channel, and it still does. I listen to your videos as a podcast at work now and this one popped up and had me tearing up again while breaking concrete and I've never looked less manly. Mua fucking slapped, and I think ima go fir another playthrough again just because your video made me miss it so much
When I got this game when I was maybe 9 years old, I separately knew characters like Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, or Iron Man but never would’ve realized that they would be in a mutual existence in a universe and could team together. It blew my mind and I loved getting to know the marvel universe through this game
3:03 For people who don’t know… The Legion of Doom were recurring antagonists in the Hanna-Barbera series “Superfriends”, based on DC Comics, made up of various DC villains such as Lex Luthor, Cheetah, and Black Manta, the latter of whom seems to have become the show’s unofficial mascot. The Doom Patrol is a hero team in DC that’s best known for being…very weird. The Masters of Evil is actually a Marvel team, usually led by Captain America villain Baron Zemo. I forgot what the LoSE is…
This was one of my favorite games growing up, everything about this game was amazing. The characters, the story, the locations...even to this day, I go back and play it every once in a while, good times.
When I was a kid I was into Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, Hulk, and Fantastic 4, never got to play Ultimate Alliance until much later in life though, I remember seeing a commercial for it and wanting it but never got it
This might be my favorite review of yours. I been a fan you're channel for a while now but I have to say, this was a very well made video. Especially at the end, dude that speech gave me chills it was brilliantly well written and true from the heart. I too share the same opinion and feelings when it comes to Marvel but that last message really did reminded me for my love for the comics themselves. Kudos to future content man.
What I found interesting was that the Wii version of Ultimate Alliance 2 is formatted the same way as Ultimate Alliance 1 with the same sound effects and animations.
I'm 3 years late into the party because I've spent a lot of time reflecting on MCU's popularity and how it overshadows the old days of Marvel's popularity. Because Disney made the MCU hinge on celebrities who personified and characterized these heroes; it's hard to separate them from the roles they play. Robert will always have a place in being the voice of Iron Man. But to always see his MCU armor being everywhere in all Marvel media REALLY becomes a eyesore for me. If you asked me what the best suit, I would say the Extremis Armor. The MCU is a cinematic masterpiece by many, but to me; it's a universe using it's limitations to their advantage. And just by remembering my time with Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, I ask, "Where's everyone else?" I mean, Avengers is great, but it lacks the core members such as Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) and Ant-Man (Hank Pym). How about Wolverine, he's a pretty known representative member of the X-Men. Spiderman is fine but honestly he's better off more to being solo rather than being a member. The Fantastic Four are my favorite Marvel family and yet in the movies, they aren't fully realized. They even ruined Doctor Doom, THE ULTIMATE VILLAIN of the Marvel Universe. Then you got God-like beings like Galactus The Devourer of Worlds, sure he loses all the time but it's that sense of dread that makes him terrifying. Because of modern era trends, you could treat a villain's introduction and screentime as memeable. Thanos himself isn't helping either since they stripped of what made him interesting, he resolves to his undying love of Death, the very being that he loves. How about Silver Surfer, the most powerful cosmic hero in all of Marvel who is seen by children and adults as just this naked man on a surfboard. That's what killed me. Kids and adults nowadays don't take these characters seriously; they aren't interested in the mythology that Stan Lee has made. Ghost Rider, Blade, Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones; so on and so forth. The problem is how they introduce characters and either change their appearance or depiction; a different backstory or origin to appeal much better. If it isn't MCU, it won't sell. It's always hard for me to see that this is what the company has become; depending on movies and A-list celebrities to carry on the popularity of these iconic heroes. If movies like these weren't made, nobody would care because Iron Man set the foundation of Marvel Studios' future. But how far can people be interested in newer characters unless they had quirks like how they made Groot terrifying to wholesome and profitable with Baby Groot? The MCU isn't peak Marvel; it hardly scratches the surface of Marvel's mythos. If I were to look at it at a newbie's perspective, I be thrilled. But then I would explore more of Marvel's stories and want to know who else were heroes and what otherworldly threats exist in the universe. I am a Marvel fan. I always found Stan Lee's stories amazing and memorable that I wish people these days could appreciate that this man, along with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko for forging this wonderous world of superheroes and adventure. But sadly, I will comply and accept that this is what Marvel is today and I will gladly keep the memories of what made Marvel "MARVEL". :) Excelsior, Rest in Peace... Stan Lee
Sam Bullock I know like 5 people in real life that say 'O' as well as a Canadian Let's Play channel. I've gotten into huge arguments about that and the pronunciation of "melee"
GodzillaMendoza Huh, maybe it's a Yankee thing. I've honestly never heard anyone say O button. Also anyone who doesn't pronounce melee as "May-lay" is a fool
Sam Bullock It took me decades to so much as accept that people call it the "oh" button. Don't even get me started on how the "X" button is pronounced.
My experience was the same as yours. This got me into Marvel and now I own thousands of their comics. I also read the characters with the voices from this game for a lot of characters (Wolverine, Deadpool, Thor specifically)
It'd be quite interesting to see a story driven, connected universe of marvel or dc games where they make story driven solo action based games with all the team up games being ultimate alliance style. Although it would never halogen it'd be interesting because there would be no limits on what they could do

The Ultimate Alliance series is set in universe 6109. It shares a history with 616, but didn't go on to influence future events of the comics. Interestingly enough, it actually re-converged with 616 for a brief time during the sequel, with one cutscene being a shot-for-shot recreation of Civil War #1 before spinning back off into it's own version of the story
Comics have always been political? I mean Jesus, Superman was a parallel of the jewish immigrant story and he came to prominence during a world war against fascism. The X-Men were a political allegory to bigotry, especially against homosexuality. There's never been a time when comics weren't political. What's happened is that YOU'VE gotten older, because when you were younger YOU weren't aware of any of the political shit. Now you are. Comics haven't become political, you have.
You want real replay ability? Well, the game's community isn't dead just yet. Go to marvelmods.com They have special custom characters with new powers and effects and costumes for this game. Over 250 new characters like dazzler, sabertooth, magick, enchantress even DC characters like the flash, green arrow, batman and the joker. It's amazing. This game was my childhood and I still play it to this day. The game takes up upwards of 25gb on my PC. I hope you'll have fun too. The mods are For the original 2006 game not the new remastered ones. Find a torrent for the old games. That are more functional.
How do i install mods? Is there 1 big one, or multiple smaller ones? PLEASE. I wanna play this game modded sooo bad. I love Xmen Legends 2 apocalypse and this game so i really would like to play it again
Moangus PIckard I know I'm late but, you'll need a program called xmlbcui. You can find it easily on Google. The game has multiple small mods of various characters but a few come fully bundled (like the official characters 3.0 mod which adds the psp characters and colossus and moon Knight by default). Once you have xmlbcui, go into your data folder where you have the game installed and find herostat.xmlb. Using xmlbcui, decode it and then find the hero you want to replace. REMEMBER TO CHEKC THEIR MENU LOCATION NUMBER. Then select their entire entry and delete it. Replace it with your new hero's herostat (that you get with the mod) and then just add the menu location number and recode the file using xmlbcui. Just remember to recode it as xmlb and not something else. And you have a modded character.
The Spider-Man and Iceman section was *amazing* it looks as if it was taken from the actual game! I mean, obviously the models were, bu the lighting is just perfect!
Honestly, I played the Dark Alliance games, Brotherhood of Steel, Demon Stone, D&D Heroes, and X Men Legends 1 & 2 and by the time these games came out, all my friends were leaving for college or military service and I was burned out on any ARPG like this lol
I remember that to get valkyrie's sword I had to fly across a gap, but the only flying character in my party was thor and he was KO'd, so I had to move on to heal him and couldn't get back 😂 and then seeing "Valkyrie fell in battle because you didn't get her sword" hurt like shit
the gameplay reminds me of Justice League Heroes for the Ps2, which is a really cool JL game that I played A LOT as a child, you should give it a try sometime ^^
I'm Peter Quill and I'm the FASTEST man alive I feel you. I had this and the second game on my psp which fell in water last year and died permanently after its eleven glorious years of life. When I tried to revive it, I broke the analog stick and I just put it in a box so I would never have to look at it and remember that painful day. Ah, those were the good days. Have you played the second one? Songbird was amazing as balls. Play the game for her, gambit, jean grey, psylocke and penance alone. They were my favourite in the psp version anyway. Emulate it if you can.
This was also my first introduction to Deadpool, and other characters. I never beat this game, now I got to go buy another copy because I sold mine back in the day. Awesome video.

I bought web of shadows for the ps2 thinking that it would be just like what I've seen. But boy was I wrong 😢
Low budget Productions I bought it twice as a kid because I wanted to see venom wolverine, I was disappointed both times
I made the similar mistake of buying X-Men Origins for the Wii
Low budget Productions me too! What's funny though is that I actually got into it and thought the final boss battle was actually really cool!
Yeah it looked nothing like the TH-cam videos I saw before I bought it
Low budget Productions from what I look d up it was a port of the psp version. Not the WII which was just a graphic downgrade of the main game.
They actually had 4 exclusive characters for the PSP version. Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ronin, and Captain Marvel
Which Captain Marvel, even though this was before Carol took up the mantle there were still like 5 different versions of the character
Spider-Man: *"HEY EVERYONE, ICE-MAN IS FUCKING GAY!"*
*"You ever considered hooking up with mystique again since she can just be a guy?"*
My gawd I died laughing xD
Is that an animation in the game or did someone make it?
Ronin Kain Because its easier to change the race, genre, sexuality of a WELL ESTABLISHED CHARACTER, rather than just make a new one....or IDK USE THE ACTUAL GAY CHRACTERS!!!
Fucking marvel
Probably the funniest part of the video.
12:47 does anyone remember that Bobby's only gay cuz' Jean literally mind fucked him not to be straight?
So glad Death Battle had Raven Extiguish Jean's Flame
Dude I didn't even know if that SFM stuff was actually just a cutscene from the game or not! I was trying to figure it out! The animator did fucking great on it wonderful work.
Of course wonderful work to you too you loveable ginger/redheaded nerd that lives in my subscription feed

this was the second time Deadpool was voiced in games. He first appeared in X-Men Legends 2, voiced by John Kassir. John would then continue to be the voice of Deadpool in MUA 1 and 2.
I remember when Marvel had heart
They put their all in to projects
I still love them, but now marvel is just kind of a giant money making machine
A Dreamer It's not marvel, it's disney.
I have never in my life heard anyone call it the “O” button rather than circle button
Why couldn't Marvel just make an actual good *comic book* games like MUA and not the shitty MCU-related games that i got this nowdays?
I can’t stand how Ultimate Alliance 3 has every Avenger resemble their MCU counterparts. Stop doing it, I know their costumes are cool, but think outside the box for once!
It drives me nuts how much “brand synergy” has stifled creativity when it comes to Marvel adaptations. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes had to be prematurely canceled because it wasn’t acting enough like a commercial for the specific movies coming out at that time.
@Alexander Capanov Well know that Marvel Studios finally has the FF licence we may finally start to see those wounds heal.
LEGO Marvel Superheroes.

Good Review, underrated game. Hopefully the next installment in the next year will do justice the the good old days of marvel.
Darn it Xavier, that ending monologue about how they don't make them like that anymore literally made me tear up and what got me into your channel, and it still does.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is taking place in Universe 6109. It has history similar to 616, but some characters look like their Ultimate counterparts.
Solid content every time, so proud of you
Came here after hearing of Stan Lee's passing. Great tribute to the Marvel Universe
I just finished the entire game playing only as The Thing. It was an interesting experience.
3:03 For people who don’t know…
The Legion of Doom were recurring antagonists in the Hanna-Barbera series “Superfriends”, based on DC Comics, made up of various DC villains such as Lex Luthor, Cheetah, and Black Manta, the latter of whom seems to have become the show’s unofficial mascot.
The Doom Patrol is a hero team in DC that’s best known for being…very weird.
The Masters of Evil is actually a Marvel team, usually led by Captain America villain Baron Zemo.
I forgot what the LoSE is…
This is one of the greatest reviews I've ever seen. This is a true love letter to this game.
This was one of my favorite games growing up, everything about this game was amazing. The characters, the story, the locations...even to this day, I go back and play it every once in a while, good times.
Your observations on MCU Ironman/Robert Downey Jr vs comic book Ironman are spot on. Thank you and I’m glad someone is saying it!!!
It's funny that Deadpool is hitting on Black Widow as Ryan Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson.
I thought it was funny he said the mcu's vision and Jarvis r the same person and Endgame proved him wrong
Sadly I was introduced to Deadpool through X-Men origins
I was introduced to Deadpool through a Lego stop-motion video.
When i was a kid i thought Deadpool was Spider-man
10:09 Holy crap that's an AMAZING Moon Knight suit!

I was introduced to a lot of marvel characters from this game
I actually kind of appreciate that Deadpool voice since like... his cancer covers his whole body, right? Why wouldn't it effect his vocal cords?
Because he has a healing Factor that kills his cancer cells
I remember when I first saw the Human Torch and I when I went over fire with him. He didn't take any damage and for me at that time, I was blown away
Right
What I found interesting was that the Wii version of Ultimate Alliance 2 is formatted the same way as Ultimate Alliance 1 with the same sound effects and animations.
5:01 XD My reaction whenever I see Moon Knight in something.
And just by remembering my time with Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, I ask, "Where's everyone else?"
I mean, Avengers is great, but it lacks the core members such as Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) and Ant-Man (Hank Pym).
Excelsior,
Rest in Peace...
Stan Lee

Jacob Williams I know crazy right? I learned that like a few weeks ago!

Moangus PIckard also, you can just go to marvel mods and you can find the instructions there.
