  • Last year, Ferrero acquired the Butterfinger brand from Nestle, but for some reason, they thought it needed some improvements. Now that it's 2019, you'll start to notice that the old Nestle Butterfingers getting cleared out to make way for ones with a new recipe. Ferrero must have really hated the original bars, because they changed just about everything - from the chocolate to the peanut butter center to even the wrapper itself. How big of a difference could it be? Is it possible that these are, in fact, better than their predecessor? Well, there's only one way to find out... A BLIND TASTE TEST! Check out the review and let me know what you think.

Never by work for order from or have anything to do with keeping this Ferraro company in business. They should be banned from America sued for false advertising (saying they improved it). And forced to give up the rights to butter finger. They are not allowed to sell it and they are not allowed to own it. Kick them out of America and off out continent as well. Just bought one. If you liked the old one, like I did, you wont like this. It just doesn't taste like a Butterfinger. They didn't address it much, but the filling tastes way different and is much more crumbly. It melts away, and not in a good way.
    The chocolate is stronger, but it also, really, really tastes like peanut butter. And not necessarily in a good way. It tastes like peanut butter out of the jar. If that's what you're looking for, you'll like it. But it doesn't taste like a Butterfinger at all. Pretty sad.

    • @ConsumerTimeCapsule

    • @ConsumerTimeCapsule
      @ConsumerTimeCapsule  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But hurting/sticking to your teeth is what Butterfingers do. It's like making a Haribo gummy bear less chewy and calling it better. That was the experience. You can't radically change it and keep the name without folks being disappointed.

    When you think of the original butterfinger. It's simply delicious. Flaky, sweet and salty center, the soft coating of chocolate. Perfect candy bar, especially with popcorn at the movies...
    The new one? Higher quality or not, that original flaky sweet and salty center is gone. It tastes burnt, less sweet, just more bland. Not necessarily bitter per say, just off. It does not go with popcorn as well.
    Sometimes you don't know what you got till it's gone. I guess I enjoyed butterfingers more than I thought. Cause it's a damn shame.

      Gotta agree with you on all fronts there. It's an important lesson to both consumers and brands. For consumers, no matter how big/popular your favorite product is, it can all change in an instant. For brands, connections go deeper than just a name and a label... you need to maintain the essence of a product if you decide to mess with it.

    The most important factor here is the removal of TBHQ = Butane. Yes, lighter fluid in Butterfinger, Reese’s and many things with peanut oil use this as a preservative.

    • @ConsumerTimeCapsule
      @ConsumerTimeCapsule  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That seems like a good reason to change the formula, but the taste of the new one is significantly worse, which is still a problem that needs to be addressed if they expect the brand to continue to thrive.

      Consumer Time Capsule This is absolutely true. But as most of us know, these companies all have market research teams that keep track of the general republic’s response, and in time once enough people have spoken they will very likely have a “new improved” or “classic flavor” Butterfinger release at some point.

The old Chocolate the did not go away so fast and the flavor would mix with the orange awesome stuff that sticks to your teeth. Giving it the amazing orange and chocolate mixture oh just so perfect. By the way that high fructose corn syrup making up the old chocolate I can tell by how long it takes my saliva to break it down. The corn stuff can sit in my mouth a while. And normal sugar is gone almost as fast as I put it in my mouth.

    For me it's so strange. I bought one after months of hearing how bad the new one is. Butterfingers were once my favorite candy bar. I gave it a try. And I can't say it was that bad. But I couldn't really give a definitive answer to myself as to how good it was. So I tried another, and I thought it was great. It was strange because it was more chocolatey and flavorful, and had great texture compared to the first one I had but I don't think I noticed. Tried another one about a week later, and man it sucked. It was just like everyone described. It's like I bit right through a roasted peanut that had low quality chocolate on it, and it was also really hollow compared to the others I had eaten. I could chomp through it with no effort. It wasn't good at all. I feel like these new ones aren't necessarily complete butt, but they're definitely no consistently good.

    I wonder if this might turn into a "New Coke" situation where so many people write to Ferrero and demand they change back to the old recipe. In my opinion, I actually like the new one better.
