Be different, paint it that cream color of the bronco you like! I think it would look pretty slick with those stripes! I’ve personally always liked the color combo of green stripes and cream on a truck.
Neil, the retro stripe is awesome. What about painting the trucks a metallic brown? Think: Fall Guy GMC colors. And it would be tough to see dirt on a brown truck.. just an idea.
Neil, some tips for the Betta. 1. It doesn’t like any turbulence in the water. When it’s windy and shakes it gets confused and swims in circles or constantly goes in reverse which causes it to spit out the debris that’s in the basket. 3. It has extendable feet that might help it not run up shore. 3.The remote is useless. There a lag in the signal. 4. Keep the sonar eyes clean or it will swim in circles. Other than that it’s a great little robot. You spend hours waiting watching it and hoping it picks up the ONE large leaf that it passes by inches over and over.
I work in a rock quarry operating a loader. I see over 100 dump trucks a day, five days a week. No two are the same because people are all different. Make it your own. What you want it to be and what you want to be seen in.
I used to work in bodyshop at Fords Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. We used glue on over lapping seams and spot welds to hold them together until paint plant can cure the glue in their 350° ovens. If the welds were bad from the robots, we just pop riveted the seam together until the glue was cured! Luv ya's from Kentucky!!!!!
The skimmer was designed to turn when it hits a vertical wall. Maybe if you devise a way to extend the "bump" sensors down a couple inches, it will turn before it gets stuck on the pond edges. And if the manufacturer wants to capitalize on the concept, they can license it from us! ;)
I've had both. My current truck is white with gloss black on the bottom of the truck and the black always shows the dirt first. No matter how much I try to avoid puddles and dirt the black is just always filthy
Ford Windsor white may be the paint color you are looking for. A TH-cam channel suggestion for paint tips is paintucation by Kevin Tetz. You have probably already seen him. Enjoyed the show.
You probably haven't gotten a lot of comments for this but I would suggest thinking about JD construction yellow for the cab and gray for the bed. The last couple paint jobs you've done on your channel have been these colors and they already feel like your branding to me. That way you can keep the logo colors we're all used to! And it would match your 318 and skid steer great!
I second the notion- maybe even a retro-style charcoal grey stripe on the cab. I think “Koch” hand painted on the doors in a tonka font would look super cool :)
That white used on a lot of the older Fords was Wimbledon white. The stripes on the Bronco and trucks I think was called the “Free Wheeling” edition. That dump truck would look great while and be much more practical.
All my trucks are black. I think it’s the best looking color when it’s clean, yeah it gets dirty but when I clean them it’s like a breath of fresh air and make me feel like I accomplished something. All 3 of my trucks are gloss black, and you bet when I get a dump truck, that will also be black. As for striping, growing up, dad had a dump truck business, his two trucks were black with red stripes so my one truck took that theme. However with the way my TH-cam Channel and Farm business is going, I’m leaning more towards a gold on black
There will probably be a lot of criticism against using epoxy for this kind of repair by the traditionalist, but it is what is used widely in aerospace and car manufacture. Your only problem might be your application. You need to key and degrease the surface you are bonding to, and the surface should be stripped of paint or primer, because your bond strength will now only be as good as your paint to metal adhesion.
Ah that makes perfect sense. Well shoot. I guess we'll see how long it takes to come loose. I can still weld some spots around the outside I guess. Maybe I'll just keep a few suitcase weights in there to hold it down 😂 Or maybe some self tappers to tie it together!
We used it extensively in the manufacturing plant I worked in. While it might not bond the metal as well as a good weld, it sure stuck it better than one of my welds.
you could always drill small 1/8 to 1/4 inch holes through both panels, then weld up the holes. The penetration will act like rivets bonds. Between the epoxy and the spot welds, your floor would be perfectly strong bonded. If you were closer to north Georgia, I’d love to have welded that in for you lol.
It works great IF you prep the surface.. You can't leave the panels shiny and factory finished.. You need to scuff it with a Maroon scuff pad before you use the panel bond.. Also we have been using that stuff for over 20 years at Collision centers.
✨🇨🇦✨. For sure black is probably the nicest choice for a truck 🛻. With the 80s stripes it will look incredible. But it will also be incredibly hard to keep it clean and shiny ✨. So for me it’s an absolute no choice. Got friends who got black sports cars and 10 minutes after they finished to shine it the wind blew up and dusted in seconds all the hard work they put on it. So………. The cream, beige colour with the orange/brown stripes is a must choice too. From Montreal Canada 🇨🇦. 👋🏼🇨🇦🌸✨
For those of us with projects looming and left over from Summer, watching you work through similar issues of finding the motivation just to get started is extremely helpful. Especially the "just do one thing" discipline. Keep organized and try to not go too crazy! 🤠👍
Good morning Neil! Another great learning experience. I’m intrigued by the epoxy. Definitely need follow-upon your thoughts after a while to see how it’s holding up. Tell the family hello from Michigan especially your mom and dad. Take care my friend
Hey thanks Mike. Yes if that epoxy works it is a great solution. I maybe should have had bare metal though. We'll see how it does I suppose. Hello to all of yours as well!
There’s a large company here that hauls road salt in the winter . Their trucks are silver/gray .their trucks always look clean even when they are not . Also I’ve used that epoxy a lot before. It saves a lot of a lot time But I would wool wax the bottom when your done. We have had a lot of success with that brand of undercoat.
I have to admit, I bought a black truck because it looked great and got rid of it in 6 months. It was so hard to keep it looking good. I decided to go white and I’m loving it. White is very forgiving and with the paint stripes you’re looking at, I think it’ll look great. Maybe some black accents. It’ll look sharp no matter what you do!
We've had our Betta skimmer for a month now and really happy with it. It gets stuck on the vac hose but amazes me how it gets unstuck. Hope it works for your pond.
I may be in the minority here but I say KEEP IT BLACK! You've been thinking about the fleet of black rigs with retro theme and if you don't paint it black you'll never know. The reality is while it is tough to keep black vehicles clean, you're not daily driving these trucks. I suggest looking on marketplace for a couple of old RV carports to park your rigs under to keep them out of the sun and elements and will help to keep your rigs as clean (and shiny) far longer tan being in the open.
I used to own a black car and only looks good briefly when polished. It doesnt even need to be dirty to look dirty, just dusty. In the UK we get occasional rain that contains a lot of sand which is whipped up from the Sahara desert and then it really looks bad! Can only imagine what corn dust would look like!
The off white with the stripes on your highway vehicles would be legendary as brand identity and the picture of the bronco with that scheme looked great. 1000% back the idea of off white with stripes
Hey Neil, I don't have a pool or pond but I have an idea for the pond skimmer you bought. How about putting a pool noodle around the unit so it will hit off the rocks first and might bounce back quick without getting stuck. All the best 🇮🇪
Thanks for the video Neil ! I have a friend who used epoxy (JB Weld) to patch an oil leak from a cracked block in the engine of his transfer dump truck. He didn’t think it would work but the cost of fixing (or replacing) the 3408 Cat diesel exceeded the value of the truck. Three years later his excavating company was still using the truck every week. He eventually sold the truck with full disclosure about the epoxy engine patch. I’d paint the trucks white because I’m practical and don’t care much about looking cool. 😆
Black! Until 2020 I have had white trucks and expeditions. Finally got the courage to buy a black 2019 F-150, platinum package and I love it! Gets dirty, yes. But if I keep it waxed, I just need to rinse it between waxes. I loved seeing you switching to black with your Ford. I lucked out and bought mine at the start of the pandemic in May 2020 when they had large inventories. The good ol’ days!
I did the same thing 12 years ago ish and I used Roof and Gutter Silicone.I still drive the vehicle every day and the panels haven't moved.Worked a treat.
Neil, a couple of videos ago you were eyeing the International Scouts, and you have mentioned your past history with them several times. Meanwhile, the Bronco keeps sitting… What are the odds of swapping out the Bronco project for an International Scout? Or does the Bronco hold too much sentimental value to move it along? Obviously, keeping the Bronco and getting a Scout would be cool! But space might be a limitation there. As for the dump truck paint color, I’m with you, there’s too many choices! I personally would probably go red.
Thanks for the shout out Neil! I understand getting away from black. I’ve owned several black vehicle. Look awesome but hard to maintain. I may do a off white layout like the bronco and send to you
Black with the stripes would look killer. Set up a little wash station and keep em clean lol. Ken white construction has black everything and they look great
Looking forward to seeing it done, black would look great but extremely time consuming to clean.. after all it is a work truck. I like the idea of your off white with the throwback accents from the snowmobile.
Neil, you know by now that the panel bond is to be used for "metal to metal" bonding. May I suggest you seam seal all the edges top and bottom with a proper seam seal product (not caulking) to keep moisture and debris out of the bonded areas which will work on degrading the paint you left behind which is only as strong as paint. It will be OK for quite a while if you don't, but if you keep this rig, you'll wish you did. Keep up your drive mate, it's infectious. Cheers 🇨🇦
To keep your pond vacuum from getting stuck, you could try carbon fiber dowels that point forward. That way those bump the rocks first before the vacuum is beached
I like the cream color with the retro stripes, I had one black car and told myself never again, too much to keep clean. My new F150 is carbonized grey, I love it, it never looks dirty, and when it rains, it looks like you just washed it, be well my friend.
👍 Nice job with the epoxy, had no idea, I'll be using that for sure, thanks. Just looked that skimmer up, maybe you can fashion something out of PVC pipe with your heat gun to re-position those radar sensors further out in front and angled down a bit with protective "bumpers" to suit your gravel bank situation, you've got the skills. I see they have a newer model that has adjustable legs underneath to avoid getting stuck on stairs, maybe a 2" looped back plastic/split PVC strip on either side underneath a few inches down acting as under water bumpers may help or cure as well. It's a pretty cool thing, don't give up on it.
If you like the black color, do it! I also have a black F-150, 4 door, seldom have a problem keeping it clean. I had it professionally ceramic coated 3 years ago. I keep it outside and rarely wash it. A good rain makes it look great with NO water spots. Go with the retro, be well, be safe!
Pretty cool. As someone that has an ICD in my chest and can’t use welders, the epoxy is a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing. As far as the paint job, I would go with white, and the retro strips. However on the back side of the truck, I would interrupt the striping and add the DDD logo in the same striping format. So it’s simply clean.
Perhaps get your pickup truck colour correction polished and then ceramic coated. That will help keep it looking clean all the time. You could use ceramic coating on the dump truck as well if you painted it black and it will help keep it looking clean and any dirt will just hose off.
Great use of the Step Brothers reference. “So much room for Activities” But seriously I like the off white with the graphics. You are lucky. (And great) See you on the next one.
That a neat way to do bodywork Neil. Looks better than the good old fashioned Bondo. I think the color the F750 is currently works for it and makes it stand out compared to the larger one. Just think, you might be teaching the girls to drive in it one day...
Oooooo I have a 2015 gmc sierra all terrain edition in “white diamond pearl” paint. In person it’s a beautiful off-white. It’s like a rich ivory. unfortunately, it is three layers of paint to get the pearl effect (tri-coat) and it’s not easily repaired because getting the color to match can be difficult. However, the color is beautiful and thought I’d let you know about it. Love your videos, love your work ethic, appreciate You and your family! Thank you for the wholesome and wonderful content!!
For car welding, you don't draw beads, you spot weld it. Like, you drill holes into the top sheed and then spot it over and over, 1 second bursts only into the drilled holes. The main frame is a difference of course, but for the shell, you spot weld.
I love your idea of using the freewheeling graphics. I think white or gray would look great but you definitely have to do the broncos style graphics on B pillar.
First truck i was ever involved in painting was an R model mack ex- fire truck and it came out amazing . I didnt know anything about the process but learned a lot we did it in a dingey shop and my old boss wet down the floor with water and now 20 years later i still see that truck around and smile she still looks great and it certainly wasnt because the guy we painted it for took care of it !!!
@digdrivediy I'm sorry that was the point of the entire comment and I forgot to put it !!! We did black with this beautiful metal flake in it that truck came out beautiful 😍
I have an idea on your floating pool skimmer. Since it is getting hung up on the rocks, what if you were to put 1 ft long probes on the front of it. You'd have a probe on each side. So when the probes hit the rocks it'll back up. And change direction. Pretty sure that would work for you. Good luck!
Black would look great when it's clean and would drive you crazy when's it's dirty. I really think the off white with the retro stripe incorporating black with the orginal color ideas is the perfect comprise of practical and your dream. Still love seeing that 200s in the background in your videos!
Hey Neil. If money wasn't a question, I would do a paint fade! Dark Gunmetal gray on the bottom fading upward to a medium to light silver. My second pick and a bit cheaper would be Gunmetal gray with Metallic flake would be sharp looking.
I’ve been watching your content for a while now. Got hooked on the pond project, and been watching your older content now too. I plan on watching everyone one of your videos. So, thank you for all the great content. This is my first time commenting. In my opinion, if you want black do black. If you are worried about it showing all the dirt, don’t. It’s a dump truck. A clean dump truck is an unused dump truck. But…..I understand the OCD. I suffer from that too. Solution: build a simple “car wash”. With some pvc pipes, well placed spray nozzles, and a water source to rinse off your equipment (not just your dump truck, all of your equipment will benefit). It won’t help with the paint getting hot, but that’s what oven mitts are for! lol. Hope this helps.
Anytime you are channeling The Who to make it through a job, you know you’re making progress! I don’t have a clue if you put the epoxy on correctly or not… but, my Tundra has a bunch of joints that are at least sealed (if not adhered) with it. If dirt and moisture can’t get into a crack… it won’t corrode there. I hope the skimmer works out. Surface skimming beats dredging it out of the bottom. If it stops only 50% you are leaps ahead. I don’t have a color preference… however I do agree that black is the worst color for showing dirt. Every morning dew is an excuse for gathering dust and debris. And, when it gets a good cleaning shower it ends up looking like a spotted streaked up mess. Good luck with the paint job and I hope the RV sells well too.
Thanks as always Dave. Yeah I just keep imagining how great the trucks would look in black, but imagining the amount of time it will take to wash them. Maybe buying the black truck ahead of time was a good practice exercise. I wash it a lot but through the auto wash in town... Cause I never have time to do it by hand! I can't imagine how time consuming the dump will be!
Hey. Here to comment on the paint scheme. Look up a 1980 scorpion sidewinder. I have one of the snowmobiles. It's a metallic gray with the same decal coloring. You said local trucks use grey but I think this type of color with the same scheme would still differ enough. Just an idea for you. Congrats on getting some work done to her!
Perfectionism is the mother of procrastination, not getting started is the brake on/of progress, you just beat them both. Have you ever considered doing a light grey color, not quite white, definitely not black? I over the years have leaned that direction because it dies hide dirt, salt spray, and mud pretty decent in my book anyway. Just a thought, truck is going to look nice all cleaned up and painted, no matter the color, it’s just who you are, thanks for the update, enjoyed watching.
Nothing like using JD suit cases for body work 😂 !!! You didn’t tell us how well the epoxy worked ?
Yeah I forgot to shoot that! So far it worked fantastic! I guess time will tell if it rattles loose or not.
I think cars are put together with it for sealing, or some kind of sealant.
I mean that's essentially what jbweld is and that stuff works really good.
Be different, paint it that cream color of the bronco you like! I think it would look pretty slick with those stripes! I’ve personally always liked the color combo of green stripes and cream on a truck.
Always look forward to your weekly uploads! Btw was rewatching your pond playlist and noticed your playlist was out of order. :)
The white Branco design looks awesome
Neil, the retro stripe is awesome. What about painting the trucks a metallic brown? Think: Fall Guy GMC colors. And it would be tough to see dirt on a brown truck.. just an idea.
Honestly I love the colors on the L9000
Neil, some tips for the Betta.
1. It doesn’t like any turbulence in the water. When it’s windy and shakes it gets confused and swims in circles or constantly goes in reverse which causes it to spit out the debris that’s in the basket.
3. It has extendable feet that might help it not run up shore.
3.The remote is useless. There a lag in the signal.
4. Keep the sonar eyes clean or it will swim in circles.
Other than that it’s a great little robot. You spend hours waiting watching it and hoping it picks up the ONE large leaf that it passes by inches over and over.

I'm jealous of you seeing all those dump trucks! 😉
@@digdrivediy By Friday afternoon, the only truck I'm looking for is the UPS truck. I don't have to load them.
I used to work in bodyshop at Fords Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. No matter the content it's always worth a watch!
Thanks for the entertainment.
I totally agree.
Thanks I appreciate that!
Do off white, then do your colors. With green, yellow, and black stripe’s.
Boy that statement hit home about getting started!!💪🤗🇺🇸
Thank you for another great video! I was very excited when I saw it was about the F750!

The last two things are key! Staying organized is tougher with too many projects piling up.
Love your channel, it's a no brainer to keep your DDD color scheme motif in any custom paint job you've got going forward...
You cannot please everybody every day. Just go with your heart, and what your wife says. Paint that beast WHATEVER COLOUR makes you happy.
Happy wife happy life

With heavy equipment, always use red as the color of choice. Red hides rust better as things get scuffed.
RewAtched! Neil looking at it again for the storytelling...you are the best at telling a story! It easty to follow and engaging to the listener!
Go for white, dump bed also! Black details. Super cool 😎

Brown surely? It's the ultimate vintage colour, it won't show the muck as much and goes swimmingly with the colours in the stripes!
You said it just as I started typing. My favorite option by far is white/tan w the retro stripes like the bronco you showed.
Ford “Oxford White” w/ those graphics would look great!
Hello from the Netherlands Koch Family .
thanks for the video Neil 1👍.
Kind regards, Hollandduck
Thanks for the shout out Neil! I understand getting away from black. I’ve owned several black vehicle. Look awesome but hard to maintain. I may do a off white layout like the bronco and send to you
Like the video Neil on your Truck and other Thing .
The off white with striping looks pretty cool.
I like the white bronco with the stripes (armor all colors).
Understand the need for black. But the white with the decals look great!
As always, your approach to any problem is spot on.
Black with the stripes would look killer. Set up a little wash station and keep em clean lol. Ken white construction has black everything and they look great
Good job Neil. You have so many projects on your books it is no wonder you run out of time.
Spray can wizard. So true.
Keep up the good work.
Cream colored truck with the gold, green, and black. That would look awesome!
I like the white for base color. Really enjoy your videos. Admire your values. 🙏🏻😇
I like the black and retro and the off-white and retro. I don't think you can go wrong. I like the idea of this retro scheme being part of your brand.
Looking forward to seeing it done, black would look great but extremely time consuming to clean.. after all it is a work truck. I like the idea of your off white with the throwback accents from the snowmobile.

I like the cream color with the retro stripes, I had one black car and told myself never again, too much to keep clean. My new F150 is carbonized grey, I love it, it never looks dirty, and when it rains, it looks like you just washed it, be well my friend.
I think you go with the off white with the retro stripe in the DDD COLOURS GREEN YELLOW WHITE ❤👍🏻🏴
I have a design background and would totally agree with the `Off White', looks good in summer and winter, and is much more unique to you.
I think white with stripes would look nice. Great video
“So much room for Activities”
But seriously I like the off white with the graphics.
You are lucky. (And great)
See you on the next one.
I vote for the white with retro stripes
The white Bronco design is the one to use. Unique and looks great!
I really like Bruno yellow for a dump truck. You would certainly stand out😊
Thanks for sharing yer interesting Life with us...
For car welding, you don't draw beads, you spot weld it. Like, you drill holes into the top sheed and then spot it over and over, 1 second bursts only into the drilled holes.
The main frame is a difference of course, but for the shell, you spot weld.
Great job.
What color do you paint it?
@digdrivediy I'm sorry that was the point of the entire comment and I forgot to put it !!! We did black with this beautiful metal flake in it that truck came out beautiful 😍
I have an idea on your floating pool skimmer. Since it is getting hung up on the rocks, what if you were to put 1 ft long probes on the front of it. You'd have a probe on each side. So when the probes hit the rocks it'll back up. And change direction. Pretty sure that would work for you. Good luck!
Im thinking the white with the retro graphic will be awesome!
Black would look great when it's clean and would drive you crazy when's it's dirty. I really think the off white with the retro stripe incorporating black with the orginal color ideas is the perfect comprise of practical and your dream. Still love seeing that 200s in the background in your videos!
I really like the off white bronco you shared. I think that's the best balance of the style you want while keeping the trucks looking clean.
White with the stripes would be great!
Hey Neil. If money wasn't a question, I would do a paint fade! Dark Gunmetal gray on the bottom fading upward to a medium to light silver. My second pick and a bit cheaper would be Gunmetal gray with Metallic flake would be sharp looking.
That cream/white Bronco with the stripes is super sharp!
I think it would look great with the off white paint and the retro stripes.
I say white or off-white with the retro stripes. That would look so cool!!!
the off white looks real nice
That white one with the retro stripes looks sick. You should use that.
Panel bond rocks! it really holds modern cars and trucks together! Love the content, THANK YOU!
Paint the F-750 black, it's a very classy look. My dad painted his LTL 9000 black to match his fleet at the time and it looked great!
Still getting votes for black now. That's good.
Go light gray. They look great even dirty!
In my opinion Louie with the red paint and the gray and black strip is the way to go!
