  • In this video I adjust the suspension. It stays well but then I make a fool of my self (as usual)
    Never been on a motorcycle before and during lockdown I decided to learn how to ride. This is my journey and my thoughts.

    I've just found out that you can put a handle onto the hook wrench. I comes right with your toolbox.
    This makes adjusting the shocks preload a lot easier!

    Why is your rear suspension has no mud guard? Dirt and tiny rocks will ruin it. Im an MX rider i know this is true bro

    I don't think you needed to adjust the preload, because the basic setting is 5 and the comfort setting is also 5? Should it already be at the right setting?

    • @vanyer401
      @vanyer401  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re right but I had to do it for three reasons.
      1st: I needed to see if I was able to easily do it myself. It is supposed to be fully adjustable by people with no similar experience. I.e. me!
      2nd: I couldn’t find an instructions video for the Svartpilen online.
      3rd: I had to check that it was in the correct position in the first place. For the front suspension for example I noticed that one of the knobs was not symmetrical to the other. My suggestion is to always check these things yourself (says the guy who didn’t check when bought the bike 😅)

  • @El_Rudo
    @El_Rudo ปีที่แล้ว +2

    To adjust the preload on the shock it is much easier to turn if you have the bike on a center stand and the link fork at full extension. Just be careful because the factory skid plate that runs along the exhaust causes the balance to be off. Better to have someone hold the bike while you are turning the hook wrench or a proper skid plate like the one on the Svartpilen 401 Super Marauder: th-cam.com/video/rccHU6rSg0k/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for posting the video. I’ve tried using the spanner on the top of the rear spring - it ain’t moving! So I’ll stick with the factory setting. Or did you find a better/easier way of turning the spanner?

    • @vanyer401
      @vanyer401  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I’m afraid I haven’t found anything better. It is hard as you can see from my struggles. You have to make sure that you’re using the spanner extension and at the correct position of course. In my experience, Svartpilen owners are smarter than average so I’m sure my clarification above is not needed :))))) maybe if you have a buddy lifting the back in order to alleviate some pressure? Although the chances are low because the preload doesn’t work like that (I think?)

    The 2024 Svartpilen 401 in India only has 4 on each side for compression and rebound i.e. if 2 is mid it can only move 2 on each side +/-.
    Rear suspension's rebound also have only 4 clicks, can anyone else with 2024 Svart 401 confirm this ?

    Out of curiosity how tall are you and after you adjusted your suspension, were you able to flat foot or reach the ground better?

    • @vanyer401
      @vanyer401  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m 178cm. Before the adjustment I could touch ground completely flat. After the adjustment I haven’t noticed any difference. Still can touch the ground flat but exactly as before. If the surface is uneven the I can’t because it’s a tall bike. All in all the suspension adjustment is not the solution if you’re shorter. I think I am the absolute limit (size wise) for this bike. Please keep in mind that height it’s not an appropriate metric in this instance. Inseem length is more important so if you’re 175cm and have longer legs then it’s better.
