Had a 1968 IIA SWB. Best vehicle I ever owned. Parts in Canada were tough to come by but the British military base in Alberta would often part out LR's, parts of which would be bought up in auctions and appear randomly in used car/parts markets.
The worst: Lucas electronics (aka Lucas, Prince of Darkness). I switched everything over to Delco and Bosch.

and in Spain was an important CKD, in Linares, Jaen, Metalurgica de Santa Ana, Land Rover Assembled in Spain, that is to say CKD, completely knock down, from 1958 to 1983, since 1983 manufacturing begins entirely in Spain, achieving a better quality Land Rover Series than those made in England at that time by British Leyland. From 1960 to 1970 Santa Ana began to manufacture its own parts in this period, improving the quality of the Spanish Land Rover over the English one, where British Leyland had many problems, financial, assembly quality and others. Santa Ana begins to export to North Africa, South America and other markets demanding the quality of Land Rover.

Did the land rover came about because of a competition for a new vehicle to be used by the British military.
They're two main runners in the competition one was a vehicle by an Irish man and the other was rover.
The competition was win by the rover even dough the other vehicle was seen to be a better vehicle.
So why did the DOD go with the Rover and not the other vehicle.
This actually occurred during the second world war and to the end of the war.
A number of examples were actually built and used before the end of war by the British forces.
Growing up this was also shown that the land rover was used during the war.
Even by the SAS.. this was widely documented with film footage at the time by DOD and later showed on British TV in a documentary on the land rover.
Because I had watched the documentary when it was showed back in the late seventies or early eighties, I always liked the land rover to me it was a great vehicle many examples were used here in Ireland by farmers and off roaders alike with all generations of the vehicle been used the Defence Forces of Ireland used them with a small number still been used today.
We all like the old land rover and its going to take time to get used to the new vehicles types.

Safe trip to Sainsbury to do the weekly shop.. That is all Land Rover is now all about is it not ???? The other thing Land Rover is good at is taking a slating from all motor enthusiasts!!!!!!!!!! Lets not get all sentimental about this car it is if you are honest a bag of shit that made loads of money for those that repair them!!!!!!!! And all that REPAIR THEM WILL SAY THE SAME !! However they do have something about them now having owned a series one A two door Range Rover A four door Range Rover and as we speak a L322 !!! also had a series 3 So i think I am in a position to say a few words OH and a Defender !!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to drive a car and do nothing else but are boring get a Toyota NO QUESTION If however you want to drive a bit of history get a Landy .... The one plus for Landies is how simple they are to fix and run untill today when they have got out of controll The only word I can use to defend the defender and others is SOUL AND THESE CARS HAVE MORE SOUL THAN YOU COULD EVER DREAM OF "LONG LIVE THE OLD LANDY" AND THE NEW ONES CAN JUST FUCK OFF!!!!!
New Land Rovers as we all know are not Land Rovers they are just money making machines for the wealthy even old Land Rovers seem to be for those with money HOW FUCKING SAD IS THAT ONE Anyway time moves on as we all do and it tends to get worse does it not but what the hec its called moving with the times Perhaps just perhaps its time to stop this so called moving with the times and take a long hard look at where we are all going HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND LETS HOPE 2023 GET BETTER ????????????
