    "Chronograph doesn't lie."
    Well. It presents what it perceives. And they can vary wildly from piece to piece of the same model from the same manufacturer. That's okay as long as you use the same one every time.
    Interesting results. New to Creedmoor. Yeah, very late to the game. Wasn't interested at all until I won an upper and found 6.5CM ammo half the $ of 6.5 Grendel. So I guess I'll spend some time with it.
    Nice presentation.

    I’d love to see you take this out hunting and post some footage of that this season. I’m curious about this rifle performing I have it on layaway as a small pack rifle for hunting.

    Yep, Grendel for shorter barrels, Creedmoor for long.
    Every cartridge has an optimal and a practical barrel length. Not always the same.

    300fps with 140eldm is 5 inches at 300yds, 11 inches at 400yds and 18 inches at 500yds.

    @BLACKRIFLEREVIEWS 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    With the short barrel, you sacrifice the Velocity of the 6.5 creed.same with any other high velocity cartridge .

    Those velocities are not indicative of most Creedmoor rounds from a shorter barrel. They represent Winchester white box quite well. With a quality loading and 123s you should ve a lot higher. Most likely 2600 or more.
    My 18 inch shoots 140s at 2630, for instance.

    I see a lot of people saying the 6.5 Grendel is just as good in this barrel length but I would argue that since creedmore is easier to find and around 10 bucks cheaper for a box I say that dog hunts

    Personally I think 20 inches is the minimum barrel length for 6.5 creedmoor. Anything under that you are given up the advantages of the 6.5 and might as well just use a three oh hate lol. I have a 20 inch on an AR and it's still great out to about 800 yards but past that it really falls on its face compared to the 24 inch barrel on my savage 110 precision. If you want a lightweight close range (inside 500 yards) hunting rifle for small/medium game I don't see a problem with a short 6.5 creedmoor though, bet it's still extremely accurate.

    • @terryleblanc6868
      @terryleblanc6868 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was thinking the same thing until I watch the video the other day of an 18-inch 65cm where he shoots tight groups from 100 all the way up to 700 yards but I wouldn't shoot an animal pass 300 with 65 Creedmoor

    • @thatoneguy454c
      @thatoneguy454c ปีที่แล้ว

      @terryleblanc6868 they are still accurate out of a short barrel, but the velocity just isn't there. Out of an appropriate barrel length the 6.5 creedmoor still has .357 mag energy levels out to 800 and 9mm energy out at 1000-1100. I won't hunt animals bigger than a white tail with a 6.5 creedmoor, and I agree that it's not really ethical to use one for hunting out past 300-400 yards. The 6.5 creedmoor is more for two legged animals

    • @charltonlwalker
      @charltonlwalker 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The advantage of the 6.5 CM is not the velocity, it’s the high BC of the bullets.

    • @kylefroelich527

      a short 6.5cm is better then a short 308 in every aspect. If you need a 500 yard deer gun, neither are THAT great with that short of a barrel.

  • @patman3310
    @patman3310 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Those velocities are usually from a 24 in barrel right? So 16 that’s pretty impressive

    I've always been a fan of 16" barrels on my 308s, in fact I bought another Howa when I 1st saw the 16"! After watching your videos I pulled the trigger and bought another in 6.5! I have a 16 upper in the works for my DB10 as well. I've always believed you lose about 300 fps +/- with a 16" barrel. I was concerned because everything Legacy put out in specs said the 6.5 was a 1:10 twist rate. I had already purchased a B&C stock and a PT&G DBM, I run Surefire muzzle devices; 6.8 MB on the Howa, 7.62 Warcomp on the DB10. Thanks for your content, accuracy with different ammo video coming next?!
    I'd really like to know if it likes heavy or light bullet weights??

      Hey thanks for the comment! Unfortunately i had to move this rifle along in order to get other stuff for the channel. However i do know this rifle did tend to favor the 140ish grain weighted projectiles.

      Why not 7.62 x 39 or 300blk in a 16-inch barrel?
      You're not one of those people who put 223 through an 11.5 are you?
