The default saturated colour pallet of FO4 is among my favourite things about the game. I remember the decade of brown and grey gritty games that preceeded it, and I will not willingly return
the thing is, the grey, dirty, grimy color palette made fallout, fallout. The first 2 fallout games are a masterclass of atmosphere, with its gritty post apocalyptic soundtrack and grimy visuals. Fallout 3 arguably has the best atmosphere out of all the games, and new vegas brings back the grimy deserted atmosphere from 2. Fallout 1 was special, because it had this isolated feeling like you stumbled into somewhere you werent supposed to be. IMO, fallout 1's atmosphere is my favourite. Fallout 4''s atmosphere is like a woosh went over todd howards head, completely missing the point of the fallout games before it.
I would actually disagree with the direction this "Welcome to Paradise" mod takes and went the opposite way. Instead of making everything look even more muddy and boring single tone I'm running the Healthier Commonwealth mod that assumes that after 200 years nature has recovered itself somewhat. Which means adding green,, fluffy grass, flowers and leaves without overdoing it.
I agree, I like the colorful saturated look of Fallout 4, the world has moved on from the destruction of the great War, it's no longer apocalypse, but post-apocalypse. I also like the overgrown green lush vegetation. It's feels more like it's been 200 years since the fall of civilization and less like mad max without cars. FO 4 vanilla veg is way too brown and lifeless imo
I like using BNS (Boston Natural Surroundings). Looks great, but the conifers may not be for everyone. It reminds me of the mountains, which are my favorite place to visit so that's one reason I like it. I combined it with a grass mod and a parallax terrain mod and it looks amazing. It still has some of the original trees mixed in and it looks good. Haven't uninstall the mod in several years. There's another flora overhaul called "Rustbelt Flora" that used to be on Bethesda Net and Nexus, but I can't seem to find it anymore. That one was really good as well. It added more trees and had a subdued color palette. Just as the name implies. Rusty browns, yellows, and oranges to recreate autumn colors. Not overdone like some Fall color mods. The post-apocalyptic hellacape is a fun aesthetic, but it only makes sense if it were just after the bombs fell. Otherwise, mods that add living flora are more interesting in my opinion. However, I hate the overgrown ones I've seen, almost like you're in a jungle. That's too much. Boston is in New England for crying out loud. It's going to have deciduous trees and pine barrens. Recreating Boston's real-life flora is what I like to aim for.
Agreed while I love fallout I'm more a fan of when the areas the game takes place in actually look like they are starting to grow again and actually have more than one color to them best example I can hive would be fnv love the game but the world itself looks so damn lifeless amd dull.
@@nathanmontgomery8650it’s a nuked desert my guy, what do you want it to look like lmao deserts that haven’t been through nuclear war and nuclear fallout look the way you describe.
Re: Landscapes looking flat, this is a verrrry common issue with terrain texture mods for Bethesda games, for a couple reasons. The first is simply that modders are often looking at textures in isolation, as a single game asset in photoshop, rather than in context of how that asset is used in game, and don't have the benefit of a dev pipeline giving them a style guide for things like scale and detail density to keep assets consistent with how they are intended to be used. Ex: Putting tons of tiny details in a dirt texture looks great when you're way zoomed in on it, but you don't play the game zoomed in on the dirt, and that small scale detail is unreadable from the distances you do normally play at, making it all look flat and uniform. The second is that modders VERY often break terrain blending shaders without even knowing it, meaning you get hard edges and shadows between textures and where the geometry changes, whereas in the vanilla game, there are shaders to blend those textures together smoothly and prevent lighting artifacts.
Phoenix has made some excellent modlist. Cheers for showcasing Welcome To Paradise, its the only modlist I use on Fallout and I use the one she had made for Skyrim which keeps in line with the vanilla game, it is called Legends of the Frost, I recommend checking it out
I like the more vibrant colors from vanilla. I mean both looks are realistic. The vanilla looks like it has been a long time since the war and the world's athmosphere has returned to its original form, letting sunrays hit the earth giving the world its color back. The modded one looks like the nuclear winter is coming and everything has turned dark. it comes down to preference.
I would recommend building your own mod list. I built upon The Midnight Ride, sorted the loading order out, I got 250 ESPs and something like 160 ESLs, runs perfect.
Website says modlist is unavailable, I assume this is because its updating to the newest version of the game... maybe not. Any other way to get it? Im mostly interested in the ENB or whatever it is thats making the colors more realistic.

ENB and field of view is a really good overhaul blurring the background to make one in focus is very cinematic along with all the mods of editing textures to your own preferences.
So Nexus Premuim downloads all the mods by default and organizes them for you? Also is this a mod of a bunch of mods together? or all seperate mods? I'm unsure.

I love playing with 400+ mods but man do I need to find someone who knows what they’re doing to set up for me. I got invisible heads, purple teeth, the nuka sticker poster won’t spawn, I always have either 95 or 0 in vats despite only having 5 perception, and I make free legendary mods by accident.
I personally value my own hand crafted load order so I can’t see myself ever committing to one of these collections. Having said that I bet a collection would be an excellent framework to build off of, removing what you don’t want and adding things you do. One day maybe.
i dont know where else to get this noticed. if anyone remembers xfactorgaming, his channel just got hacked by one of those bitcoin scams. its livestreaming now. he used to make battlefield videos.
I have a love/hate relationship with Sim Settlements. On the one hand, it's amazing and is one of the sole things that saved Fallout 4 for me at all which felt very underwhelming compared to playing New Vegas or even 3. However, I have very bad luck with the settlements causing issues like CTD if I fast travel to one (I'm guessing due to the amount of things loading in at once).
Overgrown vegetation and fallout seasons: Summer mods helps with the color palette, theres a few damage and loot adjusting mods and some that help to make the intro go much quicker.
Really wanted to play this mod list, but the lack of survival support made me hesitate. The author stated it isn't supported, but I'm not really sure if it would work anyway. They just didn't test it.
Because you need to downgrade your Game with the downgrader tool, if you read the discord guide they tell you, WTB was not updated in 9 moths so they dont have that in the website.
I just wish there was a mod list to remove all the futuristic laser + alien BS from the game. Like just give me some good realistic post apocalyptic vibes. Good old weapons.
Yea not to be rude but if you want a post apocalypse shooter game that doesn't have retro futurism, then don't bother playing fallout, it's the core of it
Playing Fallout 4 PC with a controller should be a Capital offence (unless you came direct from console peasant status). Why would you give up that pixel perfect accuracy, for one that is a laid back on the sofa using aim assist type a thing ? Blasphemy.
