I don’t doubt your expertise, but you’re focusing on “juice cleanse” rather than soups/shakes etc. There’s no reason to miss out on any food group including protein; the fact is that taking food in liquid form makes you feel fuller and takes the edge off your appetite. Like most diets, it’s not a long-term solution, but having a tin of soup for 250 calories instead of a 600 cal sandwich does have a cumulative effect.

In my past 3 years of trying to gain weight... It's true about shakes if fruits and veggies giving some digestive probs... But i didn't DO that. As studying nutrition over 45 yrs.. it's combo of protein, fat and fiber that keep our system going. And I need over 2500 calories a day (less stress, too so i don't lose what I gain) but there's countless solutions, even vegatarians know this. So, maybe I make simple foods , soft scrambled eggs, smashed potatoes with peas, occassional ground meat (any) and fish... The smoothies and homemade bread I make give plenty of nutrition in protien, fat and fiber. You just need to work with your own body (figure it out) as your body is different than mine . Good gutt health is best to balance for both gaining and losing weight. ( yes. only my opinion 😊)
My mom is a diabetic and every time she goes to the hospital they always complain about her protein in her urine is super high and that she needs to slow down. That is an issue a lot of diabetics have. You might want to go to the doctor and get your protein levels tested in your urine. Then ask how much protein is good also my mom went on a liquid fast and she did not have to take her diabetic pills for months
Don't be doing a liquid diet people! It's more body shaming tactics! Every human needs a healthy diet with at least 3 healthy meals of solid food a day. Not a fucking liquid diet, you are not a baby!
The 3 meals a day model is very dumb. People even in the early to mid 20th century only at twice a day at most. Even less frequent the further back you go

What about weight gain shakes for bulking diets, are they bad?
Depends what they have in, most likely yes because they just have loads of simple carbs with no nutrients and possibly seed oils.
