Out with 2024, and in with 2025. Happy New Year, everyone. :-) I hate to see you so down, Ben. I know you've told us there are some things that have happened to you this year that you can't discuss with us, and I understand that. I hope concentrating on your next trip to Ferndale, your book coming out, and your excerpt in the David Soul book helps support your spirits some.
Great list Ben! I haven't seen Nosferatu or Blink twice yet, but I agree with how much I loved these movies. I will admit though I did like Salem's lot 2024 more than the 79 film. I'm sorry! I wish WB would had more faith in the movie and released it to theaters and in its entire 3 hour cut. Hopefully a Director's cut of the film will see the light of day. I think my favorite non horror of the year would be Alex Garland's Civil War. That movie was butt clenching during one scene.
Thanks for the awesome list Ben I know this year has been a hard one it has for myself as well but like you mentioned there was some good things that came along as well. Congratulations on finishing your book what an incredible accomplishment! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Nosferatu not to overhype it but I absolutely loved it and I hope you will too. I really agree with you on blink twice its a movie I feel a lot of people missed out on Zoe Kravitz really showed her Talent as a director. I really hope 2025 brings you only good things because you truly deserve them your such a kind soul. Hugs My friend and wishing you the happiest of New Year's.
Hi Ben, well, it’s been a while since I watched and commented as I go so I’m gonna give it a whirl. Funny I didn’t watch Nosferatu until just yesterday because I didn’t want to see if it made my list and it actually was my number 10 this year. Abigail actually did make my list this year it was Number 7 for me. Terrifier 3 was my number 3 film this year, but I am a pretty heavy duty slasher guy so that probably comes as no surprise to you lol Maxxxine is one that I didn’t put in my honourable mentions but I probably should’ve. I didn’t mind Maxxxine at all. It was a decent film and I know people were hard on it but I did enjoy it. It just didn’t make it into my top 10. Longlegs was my Number 1, the film was brilliant to me and utterly beautiful. I can’t say enough great things about it. The only thing I wish was different were that it was a little more scary. I didn’t find it very scary, but I really thought it was utterly brilliant. And wow, I had no idea that is Anthony Perkins son, holy crap! Where have I been??? Yeah hands-down it’s my favourite film of the year. That’s funny I included Ghostbusters frozen empire in my top 10 and I know it’s not an exact horror film and I pointed that out as well but very cool. It was my number 9 this year. The Substance also made my list. I gave it my number 5 spot this year totally mind blowing film, and it felt like a combination of sort of Ex Machina, Infinity Pool and Pumpkinhead lol fantastic film. Now Alien Romulus, I actually screwed up on mine because it was in my honourable mentions and for a while it was on my top 10 list, but I completely forgot to mention it and I had it written down. It was just a blunder on me. I thought it was the best alien film, I had seen probably since aliens as well great flick! 👍 Salem’s Lot for me was also another one on my top 10 list it’s in my honourable mentions and I thought it might hang on for that spot, but there was a few others that I enjoyed just a pinch more but overall, I thought it was a great film and I thought people were definitely too hard on it because it’s a good little movie and I agree it should’ve went to theatres. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is actually my number 4 pick this year buddy I loved it lol Man we have similar taste as always brother! I actually did see a quiet place day one and I did enjoy it. It certainly could’ve been an honourable mention as well for me. I still thought it was pretty good, 2024 was a solid year for horror. Holy shit!!!! You picked smile 2 as your number one?!?! lol buddy I am so impressed. That’s my number 2 of the year for me behind only Longlegs. I totally agree. I think Naomi Scott is Oscar worthy in her performance. It’s the best performance I have seen on screen in a horror film since Toni Colette in Hereditary she blew my doors off, unbelievably great film. I’m so happy you picked it as you’re number one lots of people didn’t give it that high of a ranking. I am really impressed, buddy wow 👏👏👏👏 Great list and if you can find a half hour to spare please check mine out Morbid Mattski’s Top 10 Horror Films of 2024 th-cam.com/video/kHQ0nVfL-2k/w-d-xo.html I’m sorry it’s so long. I just had a lot to say about all these movies and man you picked a lot of great ones that I did as well! Much respect as always sir and here’s to a fantastic 2025 for both of us! 🥂
Ben, im also a big fan of the original salems lot, I grew up with that movie, I love it. I dont mind the 2004 version though it doesnt come close to 79. I really enjoyed salems lot 2024, it looked great, the production value was there and was well acted, but it did feel rushed as its a story that needs time to flesh out the characters better and thats its only flaw in my opinion. Do you know if a longer version of the 2024 movie exists and if so will it ever get released? I think it would benefit a lot and would be a great movie if it had bin 3 hours long
While I liked Barlow in the remake, I felt it was kinda lazy to make him look like the original minus the blue skin. They should’ve done something creative like what Eggers did with Count Orlock. I got to see Nosferatu. Also Bill Skarsgard confirmed that his new Pennywise series is going to be a hard R
"BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE!" (Beetlejuice 3) Where Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton) Actually Tries To Evolve (Not Change) From Bad Guy To Hero, And I'm So Really Rooting For The Ghost With The Most To Kinda Sorta Step Up And Start Acting Like The Kind Of Friend And Hero Lydia Deetz Needs Him To Be. In Fact I Believe BJ And Lyds Should Set Their Differences Aside And Start Working As A Team Alongside Astrid (Jenna Ortega) To Save The World (Both Realms Of The Living And The Dead.) Also Beej Has Just Gotta Finally Succeed In His And Lydia's Wedding. Remember What Wynona Ryder Said In That One BTS Interview? Plus I Really Can't Wait To See If Astrid Will Return For This One, Lydia's Kid Is Far Too Good To Not Do Another Sequel With The Ghost With The Most.
It is New Years Eve, there is a year in recap period. The honorable mention list begins @ the 4:20 mark. Ben does an excellent analysis of his movies. He is a remarkable critic, with a great sense of detail. He is very passionate. Also, you can click on the "Header" description of the video and it gives you the top 10 list in detail and the time line in the video.
@@natureboy1313 agreed , give Ben a chance.he's had a world of movie "reviews" but don't expect vicious chop jobs done on properties . his more mature review mainly based on why HE likes it is refreshing.
Happy New Year....😊 keep us scared buddy
