Please can you tell me how you insert the iridium into the HX Stomp effects loop? What cables go where and do you have to use any patch settings to bypass it or include it? Thanks
Hope you are doing good! I was curious if you are still still using your Benson Preamp pedal and if you would recommend it for someone who only wants one overdrive on their board? Thanks!
Do you have any phase issues when running an HX Stomp amp panned left and Iridium (FX loop) right? I assume the D/A and A/D conversion for the iridium puts the transient a few milliseconds behind the stomp’s amp. Wondering if you’ve ran into this?
Hey great video! I’m currently have a helix but im debating on switching it out for some pedals. I’ve been considering the walrus acs1 because of how small it is and I feel like I have too many amp options with the helix that I don’t even use.I came across your video with the mooer preamp live and wanted to know why you switched it out with the hx stomp? I was thinking about having the acs1 as an amp modeler with the boss OD 200 to stage through overdrives. Having said all of that. I wanted to know if you would recommend using preamp live as an amp and overdrive option?
Hey there. Yeah I get what you’re saying, I tried to go just helix for awhile and ended up going back to pedals. Regarding the preamp live, it’s a great unit but I only really used the vox emulation and a MASSIVE part of the tone you heard in that video was attributed to the blubox ir di’s. The hx stomp has way more capabilities and is an incredible piece of gear. Between the two, I’d go with the stomp every time, especially for all the wet effects. As far as the acs1, to be honest, I didn’t love it. It had an over compressed hifi sound to me that I couldn’t get into. They may have fixed that through an update, but between the two, I prefer the iridium, especially when using with drive pedals. Hope that helps. Thanks!
This sounds better than just about any spaceship Stryfecta board I’ve seen. Just average sized and it’s awesome. This is the type of tone I strive for and I’m not quite there yet. Getting closer…
More versatility. I can move the iridium around in the signal chain, use patches with both the stomp and iridium amps, or bypass the iridium entirely. I walk through that more at the end of the video. Overall, it just makes it more versatile.
Love the set up! How do you keep pedalboard noise free? I ran an out board overdrive (Wampler Euphoria V2) in front of the HX Stomp and it’s really noisy when I turn it on even with low gain.
Does Praise&Worship require very specific sounds these days? I look at the culture a bit from the outside and it seems reeeeally strange, sort of like an EDM genre where everything has to be just so.
Nah it's probably gonna change lol. I think historically it has change a whole lot from whatever middle age time till now. Like I'm thinking try checking out "Nothing Is Impossible by John Michael Talbot" and just think for a second that this was most likely the popular genre back then lol. Then way later it went to rock where rock was considered the devil's music. But for fun, try checking out "Jesus Is My Friend by Sonseed." But most of today's music is probably somewhat EDM or like those new country style genre songs.
Most of it is derivative of the U2/Coldplay sound. But you've also got some groups that follow the trend of pop music. Right now its the hip hop and EDM stuff.
Irmão esse timbyde drive que você usou a na abertura eu gostei demais, poderia me indicar um pedal custo benefício parecido com esse timbre bem como o amp e ir que usou? Parabéns fica com Deus 🙌🎸
Hey! It’s really hard to give a recommendation for something that has the same sound. If you’re looking for something more cost friendly, I’d look into something like the POD GO and get a good patch with a quality IR. There are a lot of drive pedals that sound very similar to others. The most significant part of the sound is the amp and IR. Hope that helps!
@@Vallguittarx3 Oh okay got it. The Benson preamp is kind of in its own camp, but any blues breaker style circuit should accomplish what the golden boy is doing. Maybe try a Coppersound Fox Catcher. Here are some other drives (different circuits) that I like a lot: Barbershop v2 (minimal sound coloring) Morning Glory (slight mid bump imo) Plumes (tube scream with different clipping options/super versatile) Archer (silver) (Klon clone/fat mid bump) Looking Glass (good tone shaper/minimal color) Spark (eq, boost, SUPER versatile)
Sweet pedalboard! So did the Benson take the place of your Morning Glory or did the Golden Boy? I am finally getting a Morning Glory after wanting one for years! I always enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! Actually I swapped the MG out with the fox catcher from Coppersound, but ended up not really bonding with it. At that time, I was looking into the Benson stuff and decided to pick up the preamp. I really like the sound of the pedal with my guitars. I use it more as an overall tone shaper than a drive or fuzz. The GB took the place of two pedals: J. Rockett Archer and Farfield Circuitry Barbershop v2. Mainly made the switch because I needed space and the GB was on sale for a great price.
I am DIGGING(!) your board! Many of the same pedals as me and I'm looking to integrate my PirateMIDI bridge6, just like you've done your morningstar. I have a similar size board with pedals that do the same kinda function as you. I'd say the thing that's different in soundscape is the microcosm and Friedman BE-0D for distortion and metal possibility. I'd be very interested in some help with my board. I'll list my pedals also with singnalchain: Xotic Wah->JHS FUZZ series 3->EHX pitchfork+->Strymon Compardre->Walrus Audio Warhorn/Ages combo->Xotic SL drive-> Friedman BE-OD->JHS Muffaletta->OBNE Reflector V3-> Walrus audio M1->Alexander pedals Rewind->Strymon Timeline->Strymon Big Sky-> Hologram Microcosm I'm thinking about replacing the two JHS fuzzes with the walrus audio eons and finding a smaller reverb than the big sky. Looking to integrate these pedals for the main big pedalboard with midi, and having a Nano+ og metro max size pedalboard for the small and easygoing rig Looking forward for you feedback
Thanks! I run the iridium stereo in the loop. A lot of times (especially recording), I like to use a little bit of the iridium room reverb. It gives the sound a great sense of realism.
I kinda feel the same. Most p&w players run the same pedals and sound very much alike. Not much that makes for a unique tone. But I guess if you are covering a bunch of the new songs for church services, the goal is to get pretty close to the sound of those songs.
WHat kind of patch cables are those small right angle ones??
Keep up the great work.
Man. Besides your tone, your playing is so good!
Inspiring setup/rig. Inspiring playing too 🙂
Thank you!
Love how you fit so much on a small board. I use the same board by Rockboard!
Thank you!

Love the sounds bro! Also notice there’s no gap between the Specular Tempus presets and that’s awesome !!
Thank you!

It's a great pedal, but you can get close with cheaper options for sure.

No I haven't experienced that.
You are awesome bro! Have a great day!

Thank you so much!
your tone is great! and props for being the only P&W player on youtube that can actually play guitar!
Thanks so much!
David Hyslop can shred.
What a stupid statement.
Do we worship pedals and stuff?

Thanks! Are you using good quality cables? I also run a gate in the stomp on the input.

Honestly, I change them all the time, but I can do a video showing my approach if that helps.

Awesome vid! Are you running stock IRs in your iridium?
Thanks! In the iridium, yes. Stomp, no.
Such a sick setup! Do you just send one cable out to iridium to use in the stereo fx loop?
Thanks! I run the iridium stereo in the loop. A lot of times (especially recording), I like to use a little bit of the iridium room reverb. It gives the sound a great sense of realism.
Barely seeing your pedal board… get rid of the iridium. I heard the whole video the iridium is taking away if anything.
Cool pedals by the way !
very typical worship pedalboard and sound. literally 90% of worship sounds out there.
