- I recently went back to the HX Stomp from the iridium. This video walks through three different patches I use and shows just how great it can sound.
I used two guitars. One is my Suhr HSS Antique, the other is a Fender Eric Johnson Strat.

Ha! I went with the blueSky. Mostly for price but also because it has all I need. Sometimes I'll run it with the Flint when I want to really expand the sound.

Haven’t really ever truly loved my kemper. I’m not sure why. But I’ve been eyeing the stomp for a while to have something for travel. Decided to pull the trigger. I’m kinda hoping to replace my kemper with it and be able to roll into gigs with just my pedalboard. Plus my church has 4 kempers. So, I have access to them for Sunday am.

Sounds are all amazing - thanks for sharing! Also, I saw you had a DD-500 in a previous video and now have the timeline. Anything motivate the change? I have a DD-500 myself, as well as a stomp, and have been considering getting a big sky since it’s hard for me to achieve what I want for reverbs on the HX. Thought about going timeline/big sky since it might be easier to “match” if they’re made for each other.
Also, are you selling your presets for everything? If so I’d be interested. Sounds really great.

@@dojyr3130 Well it sounded good, but I wasn't a big fan of the small little screen. I went threw a few different modelers, but now I'm back where I started. Couple analog pedals threw an oramge rockerverb 5 mkiii. It has a built in attenuator which is the cats meow for home practice. Hope that helps

But a question I had for you was your sound is very clear and your drives sound incredible. I have a protein and kilt v2 and just got an at+. But my stuff doesn’t sound nearly as great as yours. What are some tricks you use for such a great sound? Also, I know you said you used the DH impulse for the ac, do you use the same impulse response for all the rest of your patches or do you use different ones?

Hey great vid! Just a question, I’m having a similar set up, I see 4 cables connected on the Timeline, I know one goes from FX Loop and then 2 out to BigSky, where is the 4th cable going into?

What adapters did you need to make the HX Stomp play nice with the DISO+ and Truetone CS-12? Looking into doing the same thing, but unsure what direction I'm needing to go to make it work.
Sounds great. Really practical and well thought out setup. Do you still have the AC15HW or did you move on to sims only?
I am currently only using amp sims. I plan to buy another amp soon, but needed to scale back for a move. The AC15hw is a great amp, still highly recommended.

Love your playing and tone. What level do you run direct into the house (line or instrument) around -12db?? Also, does your stereo loop clip with the hx stomp? Great tone, great playing bro, keep up the good work!
Usually running around -10 or so, it’s running line level when I do. I’ve been running amps recently. Stereo loop has never been an issues
in the stomp.

GREAT setup!!! Could you explain a little more about how exactly you are powering the Stomp with your CS-12? What kind of adapters are you using? Thanks!
You will need the green 2.1mm to 2.5mm line 6 barrel adapter on one end and a red polarity reversal adapter on the other end. The line 6 adapter flips polarity so you need to correct it on the back end.
halo.. external overdrive pedal is better for boosting hi gain amp better than overdrive on hx stomp?

? Also are you running stereo out of the fx loop of HX stomp into Timeline? If so, are you using one of those dual TS to TRS cables? What's the purpose of running stereo out to the timeline if the signal before that is mono? Sorry for the fundamental questions! I'm new to the stomp! Thanks!
I am running the timeline and big sky in stereo. I hit the front end of the timeline in stereo with a TRS to dual TS cable. The purpose of doing this is to allow any stereo effects I want to use before the amp to remain stereo when hitting the Strymons. Hopefully that helps!

Hey! I have an almost identical pedalboard, literally the only pedal thats different is the compressor i use, a keeley mini. I am struggling managing dsp for a dual pitch or pog style pedal.
I currently run dual amps with a chorus and a gain boost.
Do you still have your preset available? or any kind of update on it?
What other compressor would be good if I can’t get a EGO?

I'm using a Boss gX-100. only $600. it does a great job. Why does no one use in in P&W? Am I missing something?
I thought the HX Stomp had balanced outs?! Why would you still need a DISO+?
Do you have to use a TRS Y cable to go stereo out of the stomp into your timeline/big sky? I just got the big sky today and I'm trying to use a normal patch cable from the stereo send of the stomp, into the left input of the big sky and out of left and right of the big sky into the left and right return of the stomp. I have my FX loop block of the stomp between my amp and IR and I can't hear anything past the FX loop with it turned on...

Just came across this video, great tones! I have the Helix floor and love it but I miss my external delays and verbs as well as my analog OD’s. Been kicking around the idea of putting together a rig like this for a while. Curious if you had to adjust any settings on the HX stomp like input impedance or something to make it play nice with analog OD’s?
I’m currently putting together a hybrid rig. Can’t let go of some of my delay and verb pedals, they just sound sooo good and I think require less time and tweaking.

Incredible sounds! How do you manage volume on the the Hx Stomp patches?
I monitor through my interface in a DAW and check they are all hitting the meters the same. Pretty straight forward.
Great tones. You convinced me to give a Stomp a try after having tried and moving on from an Iridium. I was curious what your patches look like. In addition to the amp and cab, are you using a compressor and/or EQ to help dial it in? Just looking for any tips to help get me more into your ball park.
Very simplistic. Find an IR you like (I love tone junkies IR’s) and dial in the amp to taste. Use high and low cuts after the IR if you need to get rid of boom or harsh top end.

I’m seriously considering getting a stomp with my pedal board. Do you ever have problems with clipping using your drive pedals?
Definitly check one out. The new Firmware 3.0 is out so you have even more blocks for creating really nice sounds. Since one could also use it for bass (yes there are bass Pre/Amp/Cabs, parallel compression etc.) it opens a wide range of possibilities.
My band uses 3 Stomps, 2 guitars, 1 bass, to get all the live sounds. Even the FOH-Dudes will kiss you for not installing mics etc. No more amplifting - if you prepared you are gig-ready in less then 10 minutes. Except for the drums :D
I think the HX Stomp is worth its price for giging musicians, bedroom players, hobbyists... and so on.
If you are into recording, this device will speed up the process by making it really fast to setup and dial-in. For me it unlocked creativity so you can concentrate on making music, not the time consuming stuff around.

That board is awesome, so the tone that comes out of it! I wonder how would you use the DISO Plus when you're running direct to a mono PA system, as it only sums to mono on the 1/4 outputs only. Does it mean you have to run mono on stomp/bigsky/timeline so you could use a mono xlr out from the DISO?
I am running the summing side as my input (they are bidirectional) which allows me to sum to mono on the XLR outs. I almost never sum to mono though as it makes the timeline sound a little like a chorus.
@@WorshipGuitarSound Cool! Just to clarify, there are 2 DISO Plus on Pinstripe website. One with summing for both xlr and 1/4 inch outputs and another one with summing only on 1/4 inch outs. Are you using the latter? Thank you for answering my questions. Really appreciate it!
Still using the TAPE and the Dotted presets on the timeline ?
Similar, tape was replaced for now by an analog setting. It all achieves the same effect.

Is the strymon iridium still a good choice for an amp modeler if i dont need any effects?
I think so. I really enjoyed playing through it and for the right player, it could be a good fit.
What pickup do you typical use?
My favorite is the 2 position on my HSS Suhr antique (bridge + middle).
What kind of amp u using sir?

Question on your morning glory use. Do you engage the bright cut switch when you use it?
I like it bright, but my Suhr is a little dark so I like the cut turned off.
Are those HX stomp presets up anywhere?
Not currently, looking to get these out for everyone.

iridium is way better than hx stomp try it both so you will know
I've owned both. Both are really good. It totally depends on what your needs are and what style of pedal you enjoy using. As far as amps sounds go neither is "way better" than the other. You just have to learn the pedal to get the most out of either. The Iridium is easier to learn, so you get to the good sounds more quickly. The HX Stomp offers you way more control and other options.
@@imyourmutter yeah, the HX stomp is all about detail while the Iridium is more of a plug and play. I had both and miss the easy access of the Iridium, but the tweakability of hx stomp is insane
