    Those worked out great! Way cleaner results than I've ever gotten with my 3D printed debossing die. Oh and of course I like the black version the best haha. Great video bud!

    Nice job! They came out great! If you start using these more consider getting a small arbor press from Harbor Freight. They are much quicker/easier then clamps. Keep it up!

    I engraved the outer edge of my "die" with a gradient to curve away the hard edge. Thanks for the video.

    I’m curious what laser engraver you use? I have been looking at different lasers and trying to decide on one for myself.

      I use Epilog lasers. You can see more about them at the link. If you have questions, let me know.

    You didn't show us how to make the pattern to print the dies. So far I have had no luck getting illustrator to produce a file that I can use to create a debossing die. I can do embossing just fine, but inverting text doesn't work. I suspect I may have to use pathfinder to merge the black negative space. Also, it may be best ramp engrave. Not sure how to do that with Xtool Creative Space. May need lightburn.

      There not really anything special about the artwork. You can either design is so the not debossed parts are black or you can use the stamp feature on the Epilog software. The negative space is what has to get engraved for the debossing to work.

      I'm on an Xtool P2. It looks like some of the other laser cutter software has those options, but not Xtool creative space. I had to use pathfinder to carefully create a negative vector in illustrator. There may be an easier way though--I'm new to illustrator and Xtool.

      @@ToddJohnson15 oh man. Yeah, I’ve never used the xTool so I’m not familiar with what the capabilities are.

    Can i do embossing on artificial leather with this technique? Do i need to apply heat?

    • @MakerExperiment
      @MakerExperiment  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sunil Kumar Dash you should be able to to an extent. I didn’t apply heat when I did it.

    Your video title is inaccurate since you don’t actually show how you make the dies. You merely showed how you used them. I’d really like to see the die making process.

    So, I buy $60k of machinery to make a die that I can get another company to do for a couple of hundred. I'll pass.
