The day my dad brought home a brand new 1959 Star Chief 4 door hardtop ("vista roof") was the day I defeated my childhood asthma with a huge shot of adrenaline. Never looked back. The 59-62 Pontiacs were the height of GM styling. Dad later bought me my "college car" - a 1962 Catalina 2 door sedan. Great memories. Love them Pontiacs!

That incredible styling is impossibly gorgeous! Absolutely beyond belief! The big American cars of the late '50s to late '60s were the envy of the world, in fact the envy of our entire galaxy!

Is it any wonder that this car (medium priced) outsold the Plymouth (a low priced car) to take the #3 spot of BEST selling car in 1959! Pontiac really hit it "out of the park" with this one!!!

That is a real dream car. Everything about this car is beyond fabulous. The '59 Bonneville hardtop was finest looking car of the day and it's power train matched it. The 389 and Hydamatic transmission gave this big car big performance. Pontiac super deluxe styling and supreme interiors were just wonderful. What a find. I love this car.

Amazing survivor, only original once. Happy that it went to someone that will continue to preserve it. First year "Wide Track". Pontiac had beautiful and unique styling after Bunkie Knudsen took over the division in 1956 and was tasked with changing the image of an old mans car, Thanks for sharing.

Semon "Bunkie" Knudsen had nothing to do with the design of this car. He supervised the 1958 Pontiacs, but not those afterward. Harley Earl was in charge thru 1960, and then Bill Mitchell.

The detailing...Pontiac was at the top of the game...going all-in to leave their old frumpy image behind forever. 389 and Wide Track...probably as good a performing car as you could get back in '59. Lol...the 'candy bars'...I always called them cheese graters.

This is the most beautiful Pontiac I have ever seen! Pontiac has a special place in my heart.
I owned a 62 Bonneville Safari wagon used in 1970. What a car! It was $5000 new. Had every option available at the time. Speed control, 4 speed automatic, power everything. 303 hp 389. Wagons were the best for hauling my guitar, amps, mics doing gigs back then.
Our drummer hade a gorgeous black and white 61 Chevy Nomad 348 tri power wagon to carry his drum set. He converted the automatic to a 4 speed transmission. Our other guitarist/keyboard player had a 62 409 Impala.
We played together since jr high 1966-72. Never crossed paths again but often wondered about the cars the had. I sold the wagon in 72 for $20 Transmission went out again stuck in 2nd gear and no reverse, timing chain wore out and then
the engine froze. Miss that car😢.
It would be worth up to $40,000 or more for one fully restored.
