Just picked mine up and I’m coming from a Thule pro t2 xtr. This is great idea, but what on earth is up with the time to install and uninstall the rack from the hitch. The Thule takes maybe 30 seconds. This one, I have to tighten a hitch bolt to 100 Nm to install and uninstall. That’s not an easy walk in the park each time I want to take this off. Seems like a simple hitch tightening mechanism, like the Thule, would have done so much here to save time and headache
There’s no doubt in my mind that it would fit your Hipeak folding e-bike. I also tested this rack with an Engwe L20 folding ebike (which is very similar to your bike) and it worked great
It's a pretty beefy rack and weighs about 53lbs. Mine is the 2" hitch, but there is a 1.25" version as well. It doesn't have a hitch tighten mechanism, but there is very minimal movement. Hope this helps and thanks for the question!
@@BikeHombre Thanks. I assume that if I get a cable lock and put it through the racks bottom bars and through the bikes should be safe enough. How about the hitch lock? How securre is that?
Unfortunately, I must have received a defective unit. 1. The threads on the hitch bolt do not match the hitch. 2. First time I tried to lower the bike stabilizer the the plastic holder broke off. Will be returning to REI.
Solid product from Yakima! Great review, seems like a fantastic product with some great features

Awesome information,thanks
go Saints! great review.
I wish you had shown how easy or hard it is to install on the vehicle. I would need to take mine off and on for every trip.
@@GuyMarsdenMakesStuff It’s easy to install, but it is heavy. Might be a little heavy to install and remove every ride
Is this rated for e-bike 65 hipeak bike folds. We have RV travel trailer 26 ft Keystone Springdale.
Need to have hitch put on camper 1:39

Do you need a hitch extender for this? I have a 2024 Wrangler Sahara 4XE with a standard 2" hitch.
Yes, I added a hitch extender due to the wheel on the back
@@BikeHombre Awesome, thank you. Did you go with the Yakima Straight Shot?
@@user-wb9th4mm1d I had a Curt extender that I had laying around that I'm using
@@user-wb9th4mm1d I would use the YAKIMA backswing.....solid product...check it out
A couple questions... How much does the rack weigh? Is it a 2" hitch and does it have a way to tighten the hitch so that it does not wobble.
Thanks

great review, does hitch come with a locking mechanism to prevent theft
Yes, there’s a lock (with 2 keys) so that the hitch can’t be stolen from your vehicle. Thanks!
@@BikeHombre but no locks any other place to secure the bikes.?
@@osint6372 You have to provide your own bike lock cable that wraps around a bar that's there specifically for the lock cable.

Can the hitch lock mechanism be handled by one person. Someone in another video mentioned that it's a bit tricky.

That’s a bummer, luckily you can get your money back. I’m surprised that the rack made it through QC.
ROFL a hitch rack (typically only used for $3k bikes.
